About the Role
We are looking for a Volunteer to assist in the running of the daily programme of activities at Headway East London. The Day Service is a new opportunity for people living with brain injury in the East London area to join our community.
Volunteering with us, you’ll get involved in the fun and creative activities going on at our Day Service. Every week is different: you could help in our art studio, assist in the kitchen or take part in a music session. You’ll be supporting our members one-to-one and in groups. You don’t need any special skills or knowledge, we’ll give you the induction you need, and support is always on hand, with regular volunteer meetings, training sessions and supervision.
Main Duties
- To help Headway staff manage the activity programme for each member by offering one-to-one support or in small groups.
- To assist members with specific activities that prove challenging for them i.e., using computers, cooking, engaging in art activities.
- To initiate discussion, games or activities and encourage members to take part.
- To help floor staff around lunch time (food preps. setting up tables, dishing out and serving food).
- To assist with keeping the Headway centre safe, clean, and tidy all times by taking on tasks such as collecting and washing cups, tidying up resources' shelves, wiping tables before lunch etc…
- To inform floor staff about activities undertaken with members and any significant changes in mood or behaviour. To take members to social events and outings and being able to assist individuals needing to use a wheelchair.
- To undergo training as required and attend volunteer debriefs and supervision. To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.
Person Specification
- Aged 18 or over.

Commitment

Training/Support
Each volunteer is given an induction which includes information on health & safety, fire precautions, confidentiality, equal opportunities, and a brief outline of the long-term effects of head injury.
As part of this role, you will receive ongoing support and you will have the opportunity to gain experience in Health and Social Care.

Position Overview
Based in the coastal town of Fort Dauphin in the southeast of Madagascar, this post will provide support to the Environment and Rural Livelihoods projects implemented by the NGO. The successful candidate will work within a combined national and international team to assist in the development of projects, from initial planning stages to final evaluations. Primary responsibilities include the writing of donor reports and proposals, providing additional support to the project team surrounding project management and monitoring and evaluation. The role is predominantly office-based with some bush travel. Duties and Responsibilities
● Write project reports, to a high standard of English, that clearly demonstrate the successes and challenges of the Environment and Rural Livelihoods projects, learning from the project and providing clear budgetary information
● Compile funding proposals based on past evaluation, team discussion and International best practice in an engaging and professional manner
● Conduct internet searches and searches through SEED’s funder database for potential donors to fund projects
● Take a leading role in gathering statistics and ensure that all existing statistics relating to the projects are accurate
● Work alongside the Communications and Media Officer to build a communications plan for the Environment and Rural Livelihoods projects, writing regular Facebook, blog posts and website copy
● Support the development of projects that fulfill local need and sit within the aims of SEED taking into account research findings, local needs and constraints, government objectives and SEED’s previous experience
● Conduct research into international best practice with regard to Environment and Rural Livelihoods programmes and take the lead in discussing these with the team
● Monitor and update project trackers according to project activities, ensuring the project is on track to meet project indicators and objectives
● Take an active role in project management meetings, leading these where appropriate
● Take an active part in international team meetings and support to other members of the team
● Work with national staff in increasing their skills and capacity, providing mentoring or training where appropriate
● Assist in data collection and basic analysis where required and where there is an Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Specialist in post assist them in developing monitoring and evaluation tools and completing MEL reports for projects
● Work alongside the Head of Project Development and Head of Finance in developing and managing the budgets relating to projects
● Maintain a database of projects and funders alongside the UK team in London
● Form part of the team representing projects or SEED when required
● Liaise with the UK team in London ensuring clear communication at all times
● Ensure all of SEED’s policies and procedures are evident throughout the work of the department, including those for safeguarding, whistleblowing, and anticorruption, and undertake continual training to ensure these are promoted at all times
● Complete other ad-hoc tasks as required by the Environment and Rural Livelihoods Programme Coordinators, Head of Project Development or Director of Operations and Heads of Departments to further the aims and work of the organisation.
Person Specification
● Hold an undergraduate in or relating to community health or have equivalent experience
● Demonstrate strong writing skills. Previous experience in grant-writing is an asset
● Demonstrate sound knowledge and keen interest in Environment and Rural Livelihoods and its interface with international development; previous experience of Environment and Rural Livelihoods or community-based work would be an asset

Statutory Financial Reporting

Reserves Policy
- Review the reserves policy.

What will you be doing?
Governing bodies are responsible for the strategic management of a school and will make decisions about a wide range of issues
The core responsibilities involved are:
· Ensuring accountability
· Providing support and challenge to the schools senior leadership team
· Monitoring and evaluating the school’s progress
· Budgetary allocation and control
· Shaping plans for school improvement and overseeing their implementation
· Setting the school’s aims and values
· Appointing senior members of staff including the Head Teacher
A school governing body is made up of representatives from the school, the parents, and the local community.
What are we looking for?
This vacancy is for a Primary School (ages 4-11). The school is looking to find a Chair of Governors who has got previous chairing experience (happy to consider in another capacity). They would love to find someone with a finance background with experience of managing teams. It would be great if you have good ICT skills.
You must be over 18, but you don’t need to be a parent or have children of school age. Often, it’s the outside perspective you can bring that a school needs. Professional experience in areas such as safe guarding, change management, and leadership skills are all useful to a school. Soft skills such as communication and problem solving are also great additions.
What difference will you make?
Governors make decisions that affect schools for years to come. Chair of Governors work in partnership with Head Teachers and the Senior Management Team to help deliver the best possible education, and help children realise their expectations and aspirations.
Our recent impact survey found that our volunteers bring £9.9 million worth of value to schools each year, and 9/10 volunteers would recommend being a governor to a friend.
As a chair of governors, you will be encouraged to visit the school to gain an understanding of the culture and ethos and to get the most out of the role. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet children, parents, and teachers, and see the impact of your work first-hand.

The Afghanistan and Central Asian Association (ACAA) is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support refugees and asylum seekers in learning English in its project in Lambeth.
Who we are:
ACAA works to empower and support refugees and asylum seekers by providing vital services that enable successful integration. These include English classes, mentoring, drop-in advice sessions, a legal surgery, employment and education training, counter-extremism workshops and youth and women's engagement services.
Role Summary:
Working as part of a small dynamic ESOL teaching team, responsibility for lesson planning and delivery will be shared between yourself and more experienced teachers. You will have the opportunity to shadow teachers and gain practical teaching experience before leading lessons. Classes meet in-person in Lambeth on evenings weekdays.
Duties will include:

Assisting a Head Teacher in preparing and delivering lessons

Help in admin and logistics for classes such as taking attendance

Supporting and motivating students to allow them to grow and enhance their
own skills by both achieving qualifications and becoming ready for work
