As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We are looking for volunteers in the South Kent area.
Volunteers would be expected to attend regular network training evenings, on line training and specific face to face training for the role. Once trained for the role would be expected to assist at First Aid, PR and fundraising events.
Volunteer training opportunities meetings are held on a Tuesday evening from 19:30 -21:00, full training for the role will be provided and volunteers will be able to cover first aid events, and community engagement activities within the community.

Volunteers would be expected to commit 100 hours of volunteering a year in a clinical capacity. They will also be expected to keep in regular contact with their line manager and keep up to date with their training.
This role will require an in-person interview, which will take place provisionally in Birmingham City Centre. Interview dates/times will be emailed to you should your application be successful. Please ensure that you are able to attend an in person interview in Birmingham before submitting your application.
Once your screening for role has been completed, you will be invited to attend your local St John Ambulance Network for a Welcome and Induction.
Training for this role consists of online learning modules and a 6 day in-person course, normally spread across three weekends. Your local Network will support you through the training process.

The Emergency Responder role will see you bring your clinical skills to all kinds of events here in Plymouth. Whether that be at the bigger events such as British Firework Championships and Armed Forces Day, or whether that be at smaller local events such as fetes, local farm summer fairs, school fayres, or a regular Saturday at Plymouth Albion Rugby. You could have the opportunity to become part of a wonderful team at our Plymouth Network, delivering a higher scope of clinical practice and giving back to the community. Want to learn first aid? Enjoy going to local events? Want to meet people and make new friends? This is the role for you. St John provide first aid treatment and care for members of the public at a variety of events. We support our local communities in all sorts of ways including first aid cover, CPR training, community response, and providing first aid training to schools and community groups. This is a fantastic role offering all sorts of opportunities within Cumbria and beyond. We are currently recruiting for Community First Aiders in both Whitehaven and Keswick and would love for you to join us! Full training and support will be provided including: Welcome programme introducing you to the project & wider charity Training in appropriate SJA policies St John Safeguarding training relevant to your role A two day Community First Aider training course The opportunity to be part of a local unit, where you will have ongoing support from peers and further learning & development opportunities Expected Time Commitment ideally two events per month (average event shift 1-8 hours) but this varies. For our Community First Aiders, we ask for a commitment of 60-80 hours a year. This can include time on events, delivering engagement in the community and attending training on Monday evenings. Community Companions support patients by offering befriending. It’s a gratifying role for someone reliable, a good listener, and with a few hours during the working week to spare.
