About The Role
Welcome Hosts help us create a great first impression. They’re on hand to provide a warm welcome and help visitors make the most of their day. Whether it’s pointing visitors in the right direction or letting them know what’s on today you will be encouraging our visitors to make the most of their visit to Slimbridge centre, and to understand our work to save wetlands for wildlife and people.
At WWT we believe that the best way for people to understand and connect to wetlands is to experience them, so we bring awe-inspiring nature up close and let it do the talking. At Slimbridge Wetland Centre visitors can explore unique wetland habitats and the amazing array of birds, mammals and amphibians that inhabit them. Our volunteers help to welcome and inspire visitors, and look after our unique habitats and heritage. Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

We are particularly looking for people that are available to help on Saturdays and Sundays. Please note, this role is not suitable for Under 18's.

Time commitment: You can pick from full-day (9.15am until 4pm) or half-day (9.15am-1pm or 1-4pm) sessions. Or speak to your volunteering manager if different hours would better suit your circumstances. We are currently looking for volunteers on Saturdays or Sundays. A minimum commitment of once a fortnight is preferred.

About the Role
Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) is a national conservation charity that has saved over 357 churches at risk. CCT operates the third largest heritage estate in charitable ownership in the UK, and its unique collection of English churches includes architecture, archaeology and art from 1,000 years of history. Attracting c.2m visitors a year, CCT keeps these churches open to be enjoyed by everyone as places of heritage, culture, spirituality and beauty.
The Board of Trustees of CCT is responsible for safeguarding and ensuring the future of this collection of outstanding historic buildings.

Safeguarding and promoting the reputation and values of CCT.
All trustees are asked to become 'champions' for one of CCT's areas of work, a role which provides them the opportunity to get more involved in understanding, supporting and promoting CCT's work in these areas. We are seeking two passionate and committed trustees to join the Board with an interest in conserving and using beautiful old churches. We would be particularly interested to hear from people with the following skills although a lack of specific experience in these areas would not rule out candidates who meet our other more general requirements.

Location: Wide geographic spread across UK
Closing date: 8am Monday 24th November 2025
Screening interviews: Will be undertaken between 1st – 12th December.
In person interviews will be held in early January.
Trustees work pro bono calendar days c. 1.5 per month (4 board meetings and 4 sub-committee meetings per year, as applicable plus ad hoc engagements, events and a two-day tour each year to different regions)

About us:
Our vision at Bluebell Wood is for every baby, child and young person with a life limiting condition to access specialist palliative care, where and when they need it. You will join our fantastic team where we all play our part in achieving our vision and creating an incredible culture for everyone.
Our services:
Our uncompromisable support services are wide-ranging and bespoke to each family. We provide symptom management, end-of-life care, post-death care, short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and more.
We support families across a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families, staff and volunteers to use.
Every year we need to raise £6.7m to keep our doors open and only around 17% of our income comes from government sources, the rest must be raised through fundraising activity.
The role:
As a trustee, you'll play a vital role in helping us deliver our mission. You'll be part of a dedicated board that:
- Sets our strategic direction and ensures we stay true to our values and purpose.
- Overseas our finances and governance, making sure we use our resources wisely and legally.
- Supports and constructively challenges our leadership team to help us grow and improve.
- Acts as an ambassador for Bluebell Wood, championing our work in the community and beyond.
