WHO ARE WE?
Palmed Academy, the education arm of Palmed UK, is training the next generation of healthcare workers in Gaza. There is an extreme shortage of health workers and limited educational opportunities for medical, dental, and nursing students in Gaza.
We aim to provide medical, nursing, and dental students with the resources, training, and opportunities to advance their education and become the future healthcare workforce in the Gaza Strip. We do this using a hybrid learning model - an online learning platform supported by international faculty to supplement on-the-ground clinical teaching by local faculty and healthcare workers.
This program is entirely free for the students. It costs about USD 150 / month to produce One Future Healthcare Worker through this program.
OUR IMPACT
2100 Palestinian medical students are continuing their undergraduate education through GEM’s hybrid model. We have expanded to include nursing and dental programs. 200 new doctors graduated in Gaza in January 2025, and our first cohort of nurses is set to follow in summer 2025.
JOIN US, DRIVE THE CHANGE
Your support empowers the next generation of healthcare workers in Gaza to save lives and rebuild hope - one student, one patient, and one community at a time.
We need support from the global community to build awareness, forge partnerships, lead on new initiatives and projects, and help us in social media, marketing, and fundraising. Lend your skills for a sustainable impact on Gaza’s healthcare!
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Palmed Academy is seeking a talented web designer to volunteer with us in building a new website. This is a great opportunity to showcase your creativity, build your portfolio, and contribute to an educational initiative that makes a real impact.
Our current website has a complex back-end interface that is difficult to manage. We are looking for a web designer to build us a new website using a no-code or low-code web design tool (e.g., Squarespace, or similar), ensuring it has a clean and simple back-end interface. Once built, the site should be easy to update by volunteers with no coding knowledge, so that content changes and updates can be managed smoothly by our team. This is a short-term project that should ideally be completed within 3-6 months, depending on the volunteer's availability.
Skills required
- Experience designing websites with no-code tools, e.g., Squarespace
- Strong eye for design, layout, and user experience.
- Be able to make the site responsive across devices.
- Create a clear handover process for future maintainers.
- Be collaborative, patient, and motivated by making a positive impact.
Be part of a dynamic and growing international volunteer team dedicated to making real change in the current and future healthcare in Gaza. As this is a volunteer role, hours and working arrangements are flexible to your availability. Be part of a supportive, mission-driven environment where your work truly matters.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

We are recruiting Trustee Board Members!
Brassington Community Heating Management Trust, (BCH), is recruiting enthusiastic directors and volunteers to manage a new board of trustees which it intends setting up to own and run the village heating network that is currently being designed by Equans Ltd.
Location: Remote-based within UK (preferably Derbyshire)
Remuneration: Volunteer
Start Date: October/November 2025
Time: 1-2 days per month
Overview
Brassington is a lively Derbyshire village on the edge of the Peak District & one mile north of Carsington Water and the edge of the Peak Park. It has 233 houses, two farms, and two small industrial facilities. The village is not connected to the gas grid, and oil, LPG, or solid fuels heat the majority of homes. The centre & northern part of the village is predominantly older, solid-walled housing, much of it terraced and built directly onto the limestone substratum. The southern area is predominantly characterised by 1950s semi-detached housing, with some newer properties interspersed throughout. The roads in the centre of the village are narrow & some houses face directly onto narrow ‘jitties’.
BCH was founded in 2021, and it aimed to develop a cheaper means of providing heat and hot water for the village community than was then available. We were aware of the heat network which was being constructed by Swaffham Prior village in Cambridgeshire, and were also conscious that such networks were common practice in Scandinavia and N. Europe. A heat network offers an effective way of reducing the high carbon impact of heating and hot water used in the village. It also enables the removal of oil and LPG tanks, improves air quality, and eliminates the liability to replace defunct boilers in individual households.
Job Purpose
We are looking for board members/trustees to manage the proposed Trust, which will own and run the heat network on behalf of the village community once it has been designed, built and commissioned by BCH. If you are interested in community energy, want to be part of an organisation actively tackling climate change, and have time to spare each month, we would love to hear from you!
- Leading the Trust
- Participate with the Derbyshire Community Energy Hub
- Stakeholder engagement and collaboration to establish the heat network
- Oversee finances of the Trust
Person specifications:
We are particularly interested in applicants with the following skills:
- Management and project management
- Accounting and financials
- Communications (e.g. marketing, social media, digital)
- Legal and property ownership
- Stakeholder engagement (e.g. interfacing with village community, articles, press releases)
- Renewable energy and heat district network
How to apply
Please apply through Charity Jobs by submitting your CV and a short cover letter (500 words max.) explaining why you would like to join Brassington Community Heating Management Trust, outlining what skills you would bring to your role.
We will then invite a shortlist of individuals to interview. Interviews will typically take place on Zoom. Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs regarding the application or interview process.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

Ready to make a difference to the lives of young people in Croydon?
For over 180 years, Reedham Children’s Trust has provided support to the most vulnerable children and young people in Croydon. We believe every child deserves a healthy, happy, and fulfilling life, and we know that when the right support is offered, family problems and disadvantage need not continue through generations.
Reedham Children’s Trust funds local projects and innovative programmes to tackle the barriers and challenges that too many children and young people in Croydon face daily - which is why we are exploring a merger with Croydon Voluntary Action to create a dynamic new entity that will ensure Reedham’s legacy can continue through new strands and activity.
Our Trustees already play an important role in helping our charity fulfil its ambitions and aspirations by supporting the strategy, providing robust governance and being ambassadors for our work. But as we enter the delivery phase of redefining the charity’s future, we are particularly keen to strengthen our board with fresh Trustees who are aspirational and strategic leaders, from a range of professional and personal backgrounds.
What are we looking for in a new Trustee?
1) We want our Trustees to reflect and understand the communities we serve. Lived experience of the challenges our beneficiaries face is welcomed, as are Trustees who live/work in and around Croydon.
2) We value enthusiasm and commitment as much as experience and professional knowledge. This includes - but is not limited to - individuals early in their careers. If you are a confident communicator with a strong understanding of the importance of strategy, and are ready to commit your time and energy, we will give you the tools to be an excellent Trustee.
3) We are interested in candidates who are open to learning as well as to contributing from their place of expertise. In particular, candidates with experience of change management, fundraising, marketing/branding and the delivery of projects and services in a local community like Croydon would help during this exciting chapter.
What being a Reedham Trustee can offer you:
- Professional development in governance, safeguarding, finance, advocacy and fundraising.
- The opportunity to support young people in Croydon and improve their life chances.
- Friendly and supportive meetings and engagement with staff and other Trustees as well as visits to projects and partner locations.
Commitment Requirements
- Attend four regular Board meetings a year in and around Croydon (including reading/preparing for meetings) as well as quarterly online briefings.
- Regular engagement with the charity’s work through visits to projects and active participation in meetings and events.
- Engage with information by remote and through digital channels.
- Act as a critical friend in meetings and whenever a new project or activity begins.
- Be an advocate for the charity in your daily life.
For an informal chat with the CEO or Chair of Trustees, please get in touch via email.
PLEASE NOTE: PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY AND WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
This is a non-remunerated position and all Trustees are asked to give approximately 12 days per annum for meetings, preparation and events.
This role in the current Board structure will run until 31 March 2026, with scope to become a Trustee in the new entity.
Please visit our website to learn more our our work and projects, and include any interests or observations in your expression of interest.
We believe every child and young person in Croydon deserves the chance to thrive and to look forward to a healthy, happy, and fulfilling adult life.
