This is a fantastic opportunity for an early career Communications Intern/Officer to be based with an NGO in the heart of Madagascar.

Living in the coastal town of Fort Dauphin in the southeast of Madagascar, this role will support the team managing SEED’s media and communication work. The successful candidate will work with both national and international staff to assist on a wide variety of tasks, from supporting with planning and scheduling content across our range of social media platforms, creating digital media for marketing and social media and day-to-day administration tasks. The role is predominantly office based with some ad-hoc travel to our rural projects. The diversity of activities undertaken will provide a wide-ranging experience for an early career communications and media professional who can effectively and efficiently deal with a comprehensive range of tasks related to the complex world of overseas development work.

Duties and responsibilities

• Create and write social media, website and newsletter content with staff across all departments in line with SEED’s strategy

• Work with the Senior Media and Communications Officer to develop and edit content, ensuring different platforms are used to best advantage SEED’s positioning 

• Provide timely, day to day monitoring and replying to questions and debates across platforms

• Support the development of individual giving and fundraising campaigns, through all stages

• Work with the Senior Media and Communications Officer and Project Officers to storyboard and develop content as well as engaging and creative social media and awareness-raising campaigns 

• Support the review and evaluation of social media platforms against marketing KPIs 

• Occasional travel to field sites to generate content to be used on social media and other outlets at the direction of Senior Media and Communications Officer 

• Shoot and edit visual high quality content that documents project activities at a national and international level

• Build capacity within the wider team, improving communication between teams internally and with external partners

• Support with the promotion of the organisation through editing blogs and articles

• Work with the IT Officer to maintain and advance the organisation’s website

• Ensure distinctive and consistent brand identity across all communication outputs

• Provide research as directed on industry trends, potential partners and content topics

The Survivors Trust is a national membership organisation for specialist voluntary sector rape and sexual abuse support services in the UK and Ireland.  We have 120+ member agencies who are all independent charities providing a range of counselling, support and advocacy services for women, men, children and young people, partners and family members who have been affected by sexual violence of any kind at any time in their lives.

The impact of sexual violence of any form, whether experienced as an adult or as a child, can be devastating and can last a lifetime. Survivors may experience a wide range of physical and mental health problems as a result of being sexually violated, affecting every aspect of their health, lives, relationships, education and work.  We aim to raise awareness of the support survivors need and the work of our Member Agencies in providing this crucial help.

TST is in the unique position of having member agencies that are working with all victims and survivors of sexual violence and sexual abuse.  We are well aware of the issues facing organisations that are delivering trauma informed services and can support them and policy makers and commissioners to understand how services need to be developed and provided.  TST is an independent inspection body for our UKAS accredited service standards for specialist sexual violence organisations.

We provide an accredited Diploma for Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVAs) and CPD accredited workshops.  We have also established a quality mark for educational establishments and corporate organisations, our Trauma Informed Educator and Trauma Informed Employer Quality Marks (TIE).

RoadPeace was established in 1992 by Brigitte Chaudry, a mother whose son was violently killed by a van driver who ignored red traffic lights. Following its 30th anniversary, Roadpeace is looking towards the next chapter and after reviewing how to develop and strengthen the charity, is in the process of creating a new strategy.

About the opportunity  

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Smart Works Greater Manchester Board of Trustees.

The Corporate Relationships Trustee will support in developing the corporate supporter base across the city region, with the aim of increasing the funding received from organisations. This will involve supporting the Fundraising and Partnerships Manager to shape the our corporate partner “offer”, engaging with corporate supporters, and building the narrative of our social value proposition.

Securing corporate funding / financial donations as an income stream will enable the Charity to continue delivering the Smart Works service across Greater Manchester, helping women to secure employment and gain financial independence. The corporate partner offering will include securing formal, multi-year Charity Partner status for Smart Works Greater Manchester across the city region and increasing corporate participation in fundraising challenges, such as the annual Cycle for Smart Works challenge and payroll giving.

The time commitment for this voluntary, unpaid role is an average of 0.5 day per month, with more time given at busy periods of the year. There will be a requirement to sit on the Fund-Raising Sub-Committee, with meetings taking place every three months, and to attend Board meetings taking place every quarter.

Civil society is under greater pressure than ever before, from a range of sources, and we are proud that our response has been characterised by imagination and ambition. Our outgoing chair, Rosie Ferguson, has played a crucial role in strengthening and consolidating our position over the past few years, and as her term of office concludes she leaves a very strong legacy for her successor. But we also know that there’s no room for complacency, and we are looking for a new chair to take up the challenge of leading us into the next phase with energy, commitment and rigour.

Candidates will share our passionate commitment to the power of civil society, and our vision for extending and deepening our reach within the sector. A skilled governance practitioner, able to work effectively with an engaged and expert board and a high-performing executive team, you’ll have a nuanced understanding of our business model and of how we can build on the progress of recent years. You must be eligible for membership of ACEVO, and experience of leading within our sector is essential.

With a significant amount of external change likely to take place in the early stages of the next chair’s tenure, we will look for a track record of working with agility and strategic creativity. You’ll need to balance your professional expertise with personal humility and curiosity, and current, practical knowledge of our sector across England and Wales would be a significant asset. An exceptional communicator, and passionate about the benefits of membership, you’ll ensure ACEVO remains the go-to organisation for leaders, aspiring leaders and stakeholders alike.

Calibre Audio is a national charity providing an audiobook and audio content service to anyone who is print disabled.

Our members may be blind, partially sighted, have dyslexia or other learning difficulties or even be unable to hold a book. Whatever the reason for their struggle to access print, our vision is an inclusive society where everyone has access to audiobooks.

Our Board of Trustees is highly motivated with a genuine commitment to use their business and life experience to help make a difference. We are currently looking to appoint a new Trustee to take on the position of Treasurer, joining the Board to support the charity as it moves into an exciting period of growth and development. As we celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2024, it is more important than ever that the charity is well positioned to broaden its membership and to maximise the opportunities presented by the ever-changing technology landscape.

To fulfil the position of Treasurer we are looking for someone who can oversee the monitoring of the organisation’s finances on behalf of the Board. A personal connection to the experiences of our members (visual impairment, dyslexia etc) is useful, but not essential. Other important skills include the ability to be visionary, think strategically and to influence key stakeholders, both within your sphere of expertise and more broadly. Strong communication skills along with a collaborative approach and a commitment to our aims are also vital.

Our Trust is situated on the West Coast of Lancashire and provides a comprehensive range of health and care services to the residents and visitors of Blackpool, Fylde, Wyre and North Lancashire. The Trust employs over 8,000 staff and has a turnover of around £648 million.

We operate in a rapidly changing NHS and health environment. This provides many opportunities, as well as uncertainty with the challenges facing the Trust and the NHS, can only be addressed through working in close partnership with the Trust’s health and care partners across the Fylde Coast and Lancashire and South Cumbria. 

About the role: 

Our Non-Executive directors work alongside other non-executives and executive directors as an equal member of the board. They share responsibility with the other directors for the decisions made by the board and for success of the organisation in leading the local improvement of healthcare services for patients.  

Despite challenges, the Trust is in an exciting position, working towards its ambitious vision to be high-performing organisation, operating as part of an integrated care system that provides high-quality, safe and effective care across its communities.

Our Non-Executive Directors are appointed for an initial period of three years by the Council of Governors. Re-appointment for a further three-year period will be subject to satisfactory appraisal and agreement by the Council of Governors.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

• Formulating plans and strategy
• Obtaining assurance and ensuring accountability
• Shaping the Trust’s culture and capability
• Ensuring that the Trust’s governance arrangements conform with best practice and statutory requirements

About You: 

We seek experienced Non-Executive Directors - not necessarily from the NHS - who will provide challenge and support to enable us to innovate and improve the delivery of the best possible health and wellbeing outcomes for our communities.

You will have an understanding of, and commitment to, NHS values of accountability, probity, and equality of opportunity, as well as the Trust, our values and the communities we serve. Your personal qualities include:

• Being prepared and able to make complex decisions, maintain an independent mindset and challenge constructively.
• A commitment to continuous improvement and delivery of high-quality services.
• Sound understanding of good corporate governance and risk as well as operating in a regulatory environment.
• Being a collaborative team player who participates and contributes effectively, bringing independent thinking and objectivity, and takes shared responsibility for decisions, outcomes and activities delegated by the Board.
• The ability to demonstrate local knowledge and an understanding and connectivity with the diverse. communities served by the Trust.  
• Having the necessary time and commitment to fulfil the requirements of the role.

You will need to become a member of our Trust and live in one of the following areas: Borough of Blackpool; Borough of Fylde; Borough of Wyre or the wider Northwest.

We are looking to recruit a trustee to join our Board, a voluntary position which offers so much. Whilst the position is unpaid, you will feel the rewards of being part of a charity that is making a real difference. We are committed to our objective of building the employability skills of our service users. In the UK only 48% of people with mental health problems, and 17.6% of people with severe learning difficulties, are in employment, versus the national 75%. Mental health issues and learning disabilities can be financially debilitating and very isolating. In addition, those living with mental health problems often face complex and challenging issues ranging from wellbeing, managing the benefits system and finding accommodation. Good work and the right help make all the difference, and that’s what Phoenix is all about.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance, strategic direction and business continuity of the charity, developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the Governing Document and legal and regulatory guidelines. Taking our responsibilities seriously requires a meaningful commitment and the ability to work as part of a small, friendly team.

Trustees bring different skills, experiences and perspectives, all really important and valuable in our work, ensuring a healthy approach and objective discourse. Previous board experience is not a pre-requisite, with a welcoming induction, mentoring and opportunity for training; we work as a team with a supportive approach.

Applications for this trustee role are invited from people who are based in or near to Swindon who would like to join our Board and have the capacity to be involved in our work. Trustees are expected to be able to attend the Board meetings and have the time to make an effective contribution to our work. Typically, there are 4 meetings per year. Occasional additional support will be valued for example at meetings with key stakeholders such as grant assessors and Swindon Borough Council.
