About us:

H4All is working to advance the health and wellbeing of residents in the London Borough of Hillingdon.

This is done through our Community Champions programme, which is an initiative made up of organisations and local volunteers who promote positive wellbeing messaging and share healthcare information.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for committed volunteers who are interested in public health and meeting people in the community. As a Community Champion, you’ll be conducting community outreach, making new connections and supporting us with Community Health projects.

This is a meaningful opportunity to reduce health and social inequalities in the borough of Hillingdon, while gaining practical experience and benefiting from free training.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with the public as part of community outreach efforts, including attending our roadshow events and speaking with residents about health programs and activities. This role will take place at different locations and venues across the London Borough of Hillingdon.
• Support the community by providing information on health services, resources and support networks.
• Complete a monthly log detailing any health outreach undertaken.
• Assist in survey data collection.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in community health or outreach would be beneficial.

Commitment required:

• Full induction and Mandatory online courses, as well as Blood pressure checks training before starting your volunteering.
• Attend relevant training when offered.
• We ask for a commitment of 6 months due to free training and individual support/development offered to our volunteers.
• This is a flexible role, and you can select which outreach events or projects to join based on your commitments. We accept however much time you can spare.

Reporting to: Health and Wellbeing Programme Officer

Documents Required:

• In your application form, you will be asked for 2 references who have known you for at least a year. They can be from a professional, a friend, a support worker etc.
• A basic DBS check is required for public-facing roles.

As a new year begins, many families in Southend-on-Sea are facing ongoing challenges — from isolation and mental health struggles to financial pressures. With a little time and consistency, you can help make this year a turning point for them.

By volunteering as a Family Mentor, you’ll offer practical and emotional support that helps families stay strong, connected and hopeful — one visit at a time.

What you’ll do

As a Family Mentor, you’ll:

• Visit a family in their home once a week for at least six months
• Listen without judgement and offer encouragement
• Help parents build confidence and develop positive parenting skills
• Support families with everyday challenges
• Reduce isolation by connecting families to local community support

You’ll be fully supported throughout your volunteering journey. We’ll carefully match you with a family and provide full training, regular supervision and ongoing guidance.

Who we’re looking for

You don’t need professional experience — just warmth, reliability and a genuine desire to help.

You’ll need to be:

• Aged 18 or over and based in or near Southend-on-Sea
• Able to commit to weekly visits for six months
• Willing to complete a DBS check and provide references
• Patient, empathetic and happy to stand alongside families through challenging times

Training for this role will take place on 4th and 5th February. You’ll need to be available on both days.

A Community Research volunteer gets involved in several tasks throughout the course of a research study. These tasks will vary based on project, timing, and the skillset of the volunteer:

● Drafting project planning documents and carrying out background research

● Carrying out face-to-face or telephone surveys and interviews

● Leading focus groups, webinar discussions and activities. Writing up notes from these sessions

● Carrying out audits of service information available online

● Logging surveys and inputting data

● Analysing data/feedback

● Using databases and spreadsheets to create charts and pivot tables

● Contributing to the production of engaging and accessible research reports

● Participating in working groups, planning and debrief sessions

● Producing infographic summary reports, highlighting, and simplifying the key findings from our report.

● Attend meetings with externals partners to discuss, promote and showcase the study/report

This role includes face-to-face engagement which requires travel across the borough, sometimes up to 3 hours to a location.

As a Visitor Engager, you’ll be out in the heart of the Wetland Centre, welcoming visitors and helping them connect with the amazing world of wetlands. From bringing conservation stories to life at our Arctic Adventure and Mission Possible exhibits, to inspiring families with hands-on activities and talks, this is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

You’ll help visitors discover incredible wetland species, support unforgettable experiences for all ages, and play a key part in sharing WWT’s vital conservation work. If you enjoy being outdoors, engaging with the public, and inspiring others through nature, this role could be for you.

We are particularly looking for people available to help on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Unfortunately this role is not available for Under 18's.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll roam some of the most exciting exhibits around the centre, welcoming visitors, answering questions and helping them get the most from their visit. By sharing your knowledge of wetland species and seasonal highlights, using hands-on props and guides, and supporting family-friendly activities during events and school holidays, you’ll help bring WWT’s conservation work to life.

As an Adult Carers Activities Volunteer, you support adults aged 25 and over who juggle demanding caring roles. About The Role

At WWT we shape unforgettable experiences; we want people to feel part of something amazing and this includes our youngest of visitors and the people they visit with.  We are therefore looking for keen and enthusiastic people to help run our weekly Wednesday term time toddler group: The Gosling Gang. You will enjoy working with other volunteers, families and young children; have good communication skills, an outgoing personality and an ability to think on your feet.

We are looking for up to ten UK university students to join our volunteer Student Ambassadors team and help Ygam achieve its social purpose by reaching out to students at university. This will be achieved by advising Ygam on the needs of students, supporting with content development, organising activities at your campus, and join us at events to raise awareness of gaming and gambling harms.

Sometimes we come across one-off community tasks that just need a few volunteers to give us a good old Yorkshire helping hand. We also know life can get very busy and people don’t always have time to commit to a regular volunteering role.

Being a Community Squad volunteer is a flexible way to get involved. You’ll find out when and where one-off tasks are happening near you, and you can choose to help whenever it suits. There’s no ongoing commitment, you’re in control.

As a Squad volunteer, you’ll regularly receive updates about opportunities across Yorkshire. There’s no obligation to sign up for any of them, but if something catches your eye, just put your name forward. We’ll send you all the details you need, and you simply turn up on the day!

Tasks vary widely, so there’s something for everyone. You might help at a community clean-up, plant spring bulbs, hand out leaflets, put out grit or clear a path when it’s snowed for a neighbour. Or you could be handing out popcorn at a cinema event, making cups of tea at a social club, supporting someone with their digital devices, creating glitter tattoos at a children’s event, or writing letters to customers who are isolated.

Position Title: Language Programme Lead

Organisation: Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees (SWR)
Location: Sevenoaks Town and surrounding areas within the district council area
Time Commitment: 3 hours per week
Remuneration: Voluntary Position (Expenses Reimbursed)

Organisation Overview
Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees (SWR) was founded in 2017 and became a registered charity in 2019. Initially focused on supporting Syrian refugees resettling in the Sevenoaks district under the UK Government Resettlement Scheme, SWR’s mission has since expanded to assist 16 refugee families from Syria and Afghanistan, as well as 50 Ukrainian families. In 2023-24, SWR raised over £70,000 to further its work, collaborating closely with local councils and partner organisations to achieve its objectives. With seven trustees, 110 active volunteers, and a supporter base of approximately 750 people, SWR is poised for a new phase of growth.

Role Overview:
As the Language Programme Lead, you will provide leadership in developing and delivering tailored language learning plans for refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. Your role is crucial in promoting independence and successful integration into society for these individuals and families, aligning with the charity’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
● Manage the delivery of language support tailored to the individual needs of each refugee through a team of 30 or so well-motivated language volunteers, usually, but not always operating one to one. This team have delivered at least 8,000 hours of language support since the charity started.
● Be actively involved in the recruitment of new language volunteers as required.
● Oversee necessary training for language volunteers and develop the promotion of best practice across the language programme group.
● Arrange for initial assessments on the arrival of all new families into the area and producing suitable teaching programmes that link with whatever other family support is required and what other stakeholders are providing.
● Work with the Volunteer Leadership Team to provide an effective overall support for our refugee beneficiaries.
● Liaise with key stakeholders such as Kent Adult Education(KAE), and the Kent ESOL Networking Group to maintain good relationships that support the provision of our language programme.

Qualifications
A working knowledge of ESOL and associated exams and qualifications would be beneficial.
Driver’s licence and access to a car would be extremely useful, given the geographical spread of the beneficiaries in the wider Sevenoaks area. This is not a role that can be performed online.

Impact and reward:
The Language Programme Lead will play a critical role in empowering refugees to achieve greater independence and integration within their new communities. You will help our refugee beneficiaries gain the language skills, confidence, and vocational training necessary to navigate daily life, access employment opportunities, and participate fully in society. You will play a big role in transforming the lives of refugees. In some cases of refugees who are illiterate in their own language, this will be genuinely life changing.

Female English Support Volunteer – Help Refugee Women Thrive

Location: Maidstone or Folkestone (at the client's home or in the community) or remote via MS Teams
Commitment: Around 2 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM)

Do you want to make a real difference in someone’s life? Join the Refugee Council’s Kent Resettlement Team as a Female English Support Volunteer and help refugee women and families build confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging.

About the Role

Language is one of the biggest barriers refugees face when starting a new life in the UK. By volunteering, you’ll provide a safe, friendly space for women to practise English, learn useful phrases for everyday life, and gain the confidence to navigate their new community.

You’ll work one-to-one or with small family groups in their homes, adapting activities to suit their needs. From informal conversations to creative exercises, you’ll make learning fun and practical.

What You’ll Do

• Support conversational English, reading, and writing
• Introduce everyday vocabulary (e.g., shopping, visiting a pharmacy)
• Encourage confidence and independence through engaging activities
• Work under the guidance of our ESOL Tutor and Resettlement Worker

What We’re Looking For

• Strong spoken and written English
• Friendly, patient, and supportive approach
• Ability to commit for at least 3 months
  (Experience with ESOL or teaching is helpful but not essential.)

Medaille Trust is one of the leading providers of support to survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking in the UK. We are working to provide refuge and freedom for survivors and fighting to see slavery in all its forms become a thing of the past. The need for this work has never been higher, there are more than 50 million estimated victims of modern slavery worldwide, and over 120,000 potential victims in the UK.

We operate ten safe houses and five outreach hubs, staffed round the clock by specialist staff, working with more than 600 men, women and dependent children each year.  We work to raise awareness in the UK and to provide preventive work in source countries. Our Pursue work helps survivors to engage with police and within the legal system to seek justice and to secure convictions against their perpetrators.

This role is based in the Hampshire area.

We are looking for Volunteers to help support us with coordinating and delivering activities, tasks will include:

•Organising and delivering activities for service user participation, which may include craft, arts, exercise/sport, education, wellbeing activities.

•Consulting service users to gain their feedback about what activities they would like to participate in.

•Helping to create a varied programme of activities.

•Offering a safe and comfortable experience for all service user, showing awareness of service users’ varying physical and mental well-being needs.

•Be able to regularly commit to volunteer monthly
