ROLDA UK are now seeking Volunteer Community Outreach Officer to help reach out to local volunteers, facilitate small activities in the community, and raise awareness of our charity's mission to rescue and rehabilitate stray and abandoned animals.

Your Role

• Help ROLDA UK build a local presence within your community by networking and growing local volunteers who are interested in animal welfare and ask them to join you.

• Create new opportunities within your local community and grow a network of volunteers who can get involved in local fundraising events like charity walks, bake sales, and helping to run local stalls etc.

• Inspire and encourage local volunteers to join your community group, collaborate, share ideas, and plan effective activities.

• Help raise awareness about ROLDA UK within your community by recruiting for volunteers to join your hub and help build local networks.

• Support your local community hub by organising regular online and in-person gatherings. Attend community events to discuss ROLDA UK’s work and encourage others to support the cause.

ROLDA does not support visa applications for volunteers. All in-person volunteers must have the legal right to volunteer in the country where they are located. Are you passionate about improving children’s literacy and life chances? Schoolreaders is a leading children’s literacy charity and we’re seeking new Trustees to join our Board. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your expertise to help shape the overall direction and vision of our innovative and impactful charity.

Schoolreaders is a UK-based charity that provides one-to-one reading support to children in primary schools by matching them with local volunteers. We became the largest in-school reading support Charity in England in the 2024/25 academic year, supporting over 35,800 children each week. A significant portion of the children we support (45%) are eligible for Pupil Premium funding, and over 50% of partner schools are in disadvantaged areas.

As a Trustee, you will work with the executive team and other Trustees to ensure the charity remains mission-drive, financially resilient, and effective in delivering its high-impact literacy support. The role involves shaping and challenging our strategy, championing evidence-based interventions, and acting as an ambassador for the charity. We are looking for candidates with expertise in two key areas: IT and digital marketing, and education.

Specific experience desired includes:

IT and Digital Marketing
The Board would benefit from stronger insight into organisational IT systems and efficiencies in operational processes, particularly the management of cyber security risks and the strategic adoption of artificial intelligence (AI). Broader experience in overseeing IT strategy and infrastructure would also be highly valuable. If candidates also bring digital media experience — such as online recruitment, fundraising campaigns, or strengthening web presence — this would be an asset, but it is not the primary focus. This expertise could come from any sector, and candidates may have held senior leadership roles such as Chief Information Officer, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Digital Officer, or similar positions with responsibility for IT strategy, systems, or security.

Education
The Board welcomes applications from those with current experience as a primary school practitioner, ideally within the state sector. Insight into challenges linked to deprivation and the use of educational technology would be particularly valuable in shaping policy, practice and partnership development. Candidates may have held leadership roles such as Head of Department, Assistant Head, Deputy Head, Headteacher, Chief Executive, or Director of Education. Appointees will also join the Education Safeguarding Consultation Group (meets three times per year).

Above all, successful candidates will be motivated by the mission of Schoolreaders and committed to supporting children’s literacy and life chances.

This is a voluntary role, though reasonable pre-agreed travel expenses will be reimbursed. The commitment includes six virtual Board meetings per year, one in-person annual meeting, and an annual strategy day. The initial term is three years, with the possibility of renewal.

We’re looking for one Support Group Volunteer over the age of 18 years old, based at Fosse Rider Pavillion, 241 Glenfield Road, LE3 6DL.

You’ll be volunteering every third Thursday of the month between 10:30am and 12:30pm.

As a support group volunteer, you will help with the running of the group.  The role is designed to suit the needs of the group, and the skills of people offering support. If you enjoy getting to know your community, working with others and making a real difference then this is the role for you.

• Guide the Board on building external relationships with funders, partners, and stakeholders

Person Specification: 

We are looking for candidates who can bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to provide oversight at a senior level to join our strong and committed Trustee Board including: 

Essential 

• A strong track record in education, with clear evidence of career progression including teaching experience and holding a senior position of responsibility. 

• Proven leadership skills. You will display a record of leadership and a proven track record of working at strategic and senior levels, with an ability to provide sound governance and oversight alongside objective, independent judgment. 

• Communication skills. Demonstrable effective written and oral communication skills, the ability to influence others and to advocate on behalf of IH London. 

• Strategic thinking ability. You will demonstrate a proven ability to think strategically, analyse complex concepts and actively contribute to the strategic direction setting of IH London, both over the long and short term. 

Desirable 

• Extensive experience in English Language Teaching (ELT), both in the UK and internationally. 

• Demonstrated engagement with wider industry bodies and professional networks. 

• A history of sharing expertise and knowledge with colleagues and peers. 

• Experience of working within a commercial education environment. 

• Awareness of recent developments and innovations in learning technologies.
