About us

Who we are

EASST is an independent, UK registered charity dedicated to making a difference in the field of road safety and sustainable mobility. Our mission is to save lives and prevent injuries by making road travel safer, greener and more sustainable for future generations. We work to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals through innovative international projects that aim to improve road safety standards, promote sustainable transport solutions, and create more inclusive communities through better mobility.

Through a vibrant network of local road safety NGOs, we concentrate our efforts in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, where road deaths are particularly high and vehicle fleets are growing. EASST is a member of the UN Road Safety Collaboration, has consultative status with the Economic & Social Council of the United Nations, and co-leads the Technical Secretariat of the Eastern Partnership Road Safety Observatory.

EASST also operates EASST Expertise Ltd, an international road safety consultancy and wholly owned trading subsidiary. EASST Expertise draws on a wide network of specialists to support, advise and manage road safety projects across the world, with all surplus revenues returned to support EASST's charitable work.

Our culture and values

Supporting sustainable development

Safe and sustainable mobility are key enablers for social and economic development.

Expertise

We are a network of global, regional and national experts in the field of safe and sustainable mobility.
Our projects and programmes are all grounded in the Safe System Approach.

Collaboration

Successful policies and interventions require an inclusive and representative approach.

Represent

We give our region a voice on the global stage, showcasing national examples of success. This is important for a region that is often underrepresented.

Locally driven

All our work is guided by lived experience and engagement with local stakeholders and communities. We use and build local capacity to ensure our solutions are relevant, effective, and sustainable.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

Ensuring equal opportunities and eliminating discrimination are crucial to providing a good workplace environment for all staff and effectively supporting our beneficiaries.

EASST believes that to contribute meaningfully to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in the world at large, and to meet the targets set out in the Sustainable Development Goals, (i.e. to “halve the number of road deaths” (Goal 3.6) and “By 2030, provide access to safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport systems for all, improving road safety, notably by expanding public transport, with special attention to the needs of those in vulnerable situations, women, children, persons with disabilities and older persons” (Goal 11.2)), a proactive approach that encourages diversity and inclusion is required.

Our policy is to comply with the requirements of UK employment law and the Equality Act 2010 as well as to provide an organisational culture that promotes equal opportunities and that is free of bullying, harassment, victimisation and unlawful discrimination, promoting dignity and respect for all, and where individual differences and the contributions of all staff and stakeholders are recognised and valued. EASST maintains a zero-tolerance stance on discrimination in any form in the workplace and within its projects.
