About us

Who we are

Slavery is the fastest growing crime in the world.  There are thought to be 50 million people enslaved worldwide and, based on our own research using police data, more than 120,000 victims in the UK alone.

Justice & Care is an award-winning anti-slavery and anti-trafficking charity working with governments and police forces focused on the UK and Bangladesh, with cross-border partnerships to support. Through frontline programmes, policy advocacy and strategic partnerships, we work on the frontline to support survivors of modern slavery and bring perpetrators to justice, and in the corridors of power to create change at scale.

Justice and Care works in South Asia, the UK and Eastern Europe.  We work to keep communities that are most at risk to human traffickers safe.  We work alongside police to release and care for victims, to uncover and dismantle criminal networks and to spark systemic change.  We run innovative frontline work, rigorously test it and share what works to drive change at scale.

We have a strong track record of impact:

  • 5,063 Lives rescued

  • 1,134 Suspected traffickers arrested

  • 4,157 Survivors supported

  • 1,275 Exploiters prosecuted

  • 51,164 Police officers, public prosecutors, and community leaders trained in trafficking awareness

We know we cannot beat slavery alone, which is why we work closely with others including Governments, prosecutors, the police, other charities, businesses and others to fight the issue. Our work is always victim-centric and is focussed on learning best practice and then shaping systemic change.

Our work has led to major systemic change in India, Bangladesh and the UK. We have also won major awards in recent years including the coveted Thomson Reuters Stop Slavery Award and a UK Third Sector Award. Meanwhile, our groundbreaking work has received strong media attention including in The Sunday Times Magazine, the Guardian, Sky News, ITN and C4 news among many others.

Our culture and values

An Inspiring Purpose
We’re motivated by one thing, and one thing alone, the end of modern slavery.
It is why we dedicate ourselves to freeing the exploited, to dismantling the criminal networks responsible, and changing the policies that allow it to thrive. But we know we cannot do it alone.
That is why we join forces to end modern slavery – working with others to bring freedom for individuals and societies.

Shared Values
Collaboration: Building powerful partnerships with governments, officials, and agencies worldwide, and walking alongside the exploited to ensure their voices are heard and justice is achieved.
Courage: Fearlessly confronting the challenge of modern slavery, daring to envision a different world, and pioneering the pursuit of justice for the exploited.
Excellence: Striving for the highest standards in governance, impact measurement, and accountability, believing the fight against human trafficking deserves their very best.
Relentlessness: Persisting in the fight against modern slavery with hope and determination, standing with the exploited as they rebuild their lives, and pursuing all those responsible for their exploitation.
Pioneering: Being agile and innovative, learning from others, and leading the way as innovators in anti-trafficking efforts.
