About us
Who we are
Plum Village UK is a working name for the UK charity The Community of Interbeing UK, which promotes the practice of mindfulness and mindful living in the Plum Village tradition in the UK.
Why Plum Village UK?
By using the name Plum Village UK we are clearly aligning ourselves with the Plum Village Mindfulness practice of Thich Nhat Hanh and the global Plum Village family. Increasingly Plum Village Mindfulness is a term people use and understand easily and will become more and more important as the community collectively continues Thich Nhat Hanh’s teachings.
The unique accessible, joyful, engaged form of Buddhist practice that has been developed by Thich Hanh Hanh and his students over the last 30 plus years is increasingly known as The Plum Village Tradition. We would like to clearly identify ourselves as the representatives of this tradition here in the UK.
What does the charity do?
* organises retreats with both UK teachers and Plum Village monastics
* supports a growing network of practice groups throughout the country
* runs introductory mindfulness courses
* facilitates outreach work to offer the Plum Village practices in appropriate forms to groups in need
* is working towards creating a Being Peace Practice Centre
