About us

Who we are

The YEW Collective exists to support young people and communities to thrive. Its vision is of communities where young people are valued, included, and able to reach their potential. Its values centre on co-production, inclusion, and genuine relationship-based practice; reflecting the organisation's foundation in grassroots youth and community work, and its ongoing commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion, early intervention, and place-based delivery.

The YEW Collective has been formed from the merger of both West Rhyl Young People's Project and Prestatyn & Meliden Community Action Group, meaning that we have over thirty years experience of supporting the young people people and communities of Rhyl, Prestatyn, Meliuden, and the surrounding areas.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

The YEW Collective is committed to equality, equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EEDIB) across everything we do, guided by a policy led by our Strategic Charity Lead and supported by staff and trustees. We take a proactive stance against discrimination, harassment and victimisation, go beyond the legal minimums set out in the Equality Act 2010, and take an intersectional approach that recognises how overlapping identities and experiences of disadvantage — including poverty — can compound one another. As a Wales-based organisation, we're also committed to promoting the Welsh language and culture, ensuring people can access our services and express themselves in the language of their choice. We aim for a workforce genuinely representative of the communities we serve, and we make reasonable adjustments so disabled staff, volunteers and young people can participate fully.
