About us
Who we are
Young Change Makers exists to help young people turn ideas into action.
We believe young people should be able to make a difference in their communities regardless of their age, background, experience or financial circumstances.
Our aim is to provide young people with practical guidance, resources and support to help them develop their own community projects, campaigns, charitable initiatives and other ideas for positive change.
Young Change Makers is currently being relaunched, with a new team, website, resources and online presence being developed. This means we're recruiting people who want to help shape the organisation from an early stage and build something genuinely useful for young people.
As we grow, we aim to provide free educational resources, practical guidance, mentoring and opportunities that make youth-led social action easier to access.
You don't need to wait until you're older to make a difference
Our culture and values
Young Change Makers is built around the idea that young people's ideas deserve to be taken seriously.
We're creating a supportive, collaborative and youth-led environment where people are encouraged to contribute ideas, challenge existing ways of doing things and help shape the direction of the organisation.
We value initiative, kindness, creativity, honesty and inclusion. We don't expect volunteers to arrive knowing everything; we're much more interested in people who care about our mission, are willing to learn and can reliably contribute to the team.
As a growing organisation, our ways of working will continue to develop. Team members joining during our relaunch will have a genuine opportunity to influence our programmes, resources and future direction.
We also recognise that volunteering needs to fit around people's lives. We aim to work flexibly while maintaining clear expectations, good communication and accountability within the team.
Above all, we want Young Change Makers to be somewhere where young people feel listened to, supported and capable of creating meaningful change.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Young Change Makers is committed to creating an inclusive organisation where everyone is treated fairly, with dignity and respect.
We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation on the basis of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic or background.
As an organisation focused on young people, we recognise that opportunities to participate in social action are not equally accessible to everyone. Financial circumstances, disability, education, location, caring responsibilities and other barriers can affect a young person's ability to become involved.
We therefore aim to make our volunteering opportunities, resources and programmes as accessible as reasonably possible and to consider individual needs when designing how we work.
Recruitment decisions are based on the requirements of each role, an individual's skills and potential, and their ability to contribute to our mission. We welcome applications from people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
We are committed to continually reviewing and improving our approach as Young Change Makers develops.
