Job description

We’re looking for a senior grant giving expert to advise our Global Programmes Committee which provides oversight for our exciting and rapidly growing Global Programmes work which improves the lives of the many dogs and cats we’ll never meet through our work with other rescue organisations and charities across the UK and overseas.

About us

At Battersea, we aim to never turn away a dog or cat in need of help. We give each one lots of love and expert care and get to know their characters and quirks so we can find them a new home that’s just right for them. We also help people make informed choices when getting a pet, we provide training and welfare advice, and we campaign for changes in the law when we see that dogs and cats or their owners deserve better.

All the knowledge we gather helps us to improve the lives of the animals we’ll never meet, through our work with other rescue organisations and charities. Our ambitious Global Programmes work aims to increase the impact on the welfare of almost 500,000 dogs and cats beyond our gates across the UK and in our focus countries over the next five years, through Grants and Programmes providing strategic funding and support to organisations and researchers within the animal welfare sector, and the Academy, supporting the professional development of staff and volunteers in rescues and rehoming organisations. We seek to advance change, by empowering local partners, so that more cats and dogs have a better future.

We’re looking for a senior grant giving expert to provide their expert insight, advice and support toe the Global Programmes Committee – a Board Committee which provides governance oversight on all aspects of Battersea’s Global Programmes work. The Committee meets four times a year, online, and the appointment is for an initial term of three years.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join us and help us be here for every dog and cat, wherever they are, for as long as they need us.

Equality, diversity and inclusion at Battersea

At Battersea, we are committed to providing equality of opportunity, and developing and supporting a diverse workforce and inclusive culture in all aspects of our organisation. We aim to ensure that this pledge, reinforced by our values, is embedded in our day-to-day working practices and our work together.

By hearing from and valuing different experiences, perspectives and contributions, we know we can provide the best expert care for every dog and cat who needs us. We particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities and from members of minority ethnic communities, who we know are currently under-represented at Battersea.

As a Disability Confident Committed employer, we're happy to discuss any support or personalisation you may need during your application and/or interview process as part of our workplace adjustments.

Closing date: 3rd March 2024

If you think you’re a good fit for the role, and you’re passionate about dogs, cats and our work, then we’d like to hear from you. All applications must be submitted before the closing date advertised; we reserve the right to close the vacancy early if a high volume of applications is received.
