Diversity & Discrimination in The Charity Sector

Should charities be doing more to diversify their workforce?

A policy of diversity and inclusion is the key to unlocking the best talent; it means benefiting from a wide range of people no matter their ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation or social background. So how can charities be sure that they’re treating candidates fairly?

We asked our candidates and recruiters to share their experiences of diversity in the charity sector. Here’s what we found out.

Here’s a taster of what you can find…

  • 64% of charity recruiters do not do enough to encourage those with disabilities to apply for their jobs
  • Age, gender and ethnicity/race were the most common forms of discrimination
  • Only 3% of chief executives were from BAME backgrounds

Take a closer look at the candidate experience and discover what recruiters are doing to prioritise diversity.
