Job description

Job summary

The post-holder will be responsible for providing receiving, checking and inputting to sage year end accounts received from over 200 parishes in order to help prepare the consolidated accounts for the Archdiocesan charity known as Birmingham Diocesan Trust.  Duties will include providing in the main telephone and email support to parishes with their accounts preparation via an online accounts package known as OPAS (which is a simple cashbook system) and will also involve visiting parishes to perform internal audits and training.

Main duties & responsibilities

The following is a list of the main duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by the post-holder:

  1. With the support of an assistant, process year end accounts received from parishes – checking for and correcting errors prior to inputting to Sage 200.
  2. Support the Diocesan Finance Manager to prepare the consolidated diocesan accounts ready for external audit
  3. Provide accounts support to parishes via telephone and email in the main.
  4. Provide finance training to parishes both remotely and locally.
  5. Undertake internal audits of parishes including writing reports with recommendations.
  6. To undertake any other related duties as requested.
