Role purpose
The Fundraising Trustee will bring expertise, insight, and strategic guidance to help the charity strengthen and diversify its income. Working with the Board and staff/volunteers, they will ensure fundraising is ethical, sustainable, and aligned with the charity’s mission and values.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the overall governance of the charity as a member of the Board of Trustees.

Mavar’s Service Users
Some men and women who have grown up in the closed world of the Charedi community hold personal and religious values that are not in line with the rest of the community. Attempts to follow their own path often bring them into direct confrontation with family, friends and neighbours who regard expressions of individualism or self-determination as heresy. These individuals fear that the community will ostracise them, leaving them feeling trapped, isolated and helpless.
Some may simply wish to explore options for obtaining a general education or improving their access to employment opportunities whilst wishing to remain within the ultra-orthodox community; others may look to divest themselves of the strictures of ultra-orthodoxy and to lead a more mainstream lifestyle. They all typically lack the everyday life skills to cope with the challenges of the secular world, which appears to them as a confusing, frightening and alien planet. Any effort to integrate with the outside, secular world is hampered by limited English language skills, cultural disorientation, lack of basic education or qualifications and negligible skills for employment.
Trustee Role Details
The day-to-day operations of Mavar are conducted by staff and volunteers under the leadership of our CEO and with the overall oversight of the Trustee Board.
Main Duties of the Fundraising Trustee:
- Contribute to the overall governance of the charity as a member of the Board of Trustees.
- Provide advice and support on fundraising strategy, ensuring income generation is planned and executed in alignment with Mavar’s budget framework and objectives.

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces.
If you are a professional fundraiser and would like to help but are short on time, we would love to hear from you even if you are unable to get deeply involved. We would appreciate one-off or ongoing advice on the phone, online or in person. We would welcome feedback on our fundraising strategy and past applications, any advice about trust and grant fundraising, and any other advice you can give.
The Fundraising Circle currently meets fortnightly on a Thursday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely. Volunteer Role: Trusts and Foundations
We were set up to transform the former Edward Hain hospital, in St Ives, Cornwall, into a community centre for health and wellbeing. The hospital was founded in 1920, with funds from the Cornish Hain Steamship Company. When it closed n 2021, our community, led by the hospital’s League of Friends, came together to save the building for the town. Now it brings together much needed health and wellbeing services, along with social, community and welfare support, all under one roof.
About the role
We are looking for volunteers to help us raise funds from Trusts and Foundations. Grants, such the one we secured from National Lottery, already help keep us open all year. Although previous experience in grant writing would be welcomed, it is absolutely not required. More important are your enthusiasm and desire to help local people. ideally, you will be able to volunteer at least one or two days a month on a regular basis and preferably have access to a computer.

The Income Generation Officer will play a pivotal role in enhancing the financial sustainability and growth of Mountain Rescue England & Wales (MREW), supporting 47 active mountain rescue teams across the region. This voluntary position is responsible for devising and implementing a robust income generation strategy to ensure the long-term funding and stability of the organisation.
Resource is required to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to support long-term funding and organisation growth, financial stability and the achievement of income goals. This will include building relations with major donors, corporate partnerships, legacies and individual giving. In addition, there is scope to drive income through MR membership and via grants from trusts, foundations and government.
Reporting to the CEO, the person will need to contribute to the MREW’s overall future strategy. There will be a need to understand the MR structure and to have the ability to work as part of the MREW Senior Management Team, and alongside trustees, liaison team, regional structure and local teams.
Using the MREW Income Generation Strategy, they will review all existing income generation streams to understand their viability and scalability, along with all potential new income streams to develop sustainable income for MREW.
Mountain Rescue England & Wales (MREW) is a voluntary organisation that provides mountain rescue services 24/7, 365 days a year, and offers support to communities during other crises. It consists of 47 independent volunteer search and rescue teams that operate across eight geographical areas. The organisation serves as the national body to represent the whole organisation, acting as an advisory body, linking with partner organisations and helping to standardise training and share information.
Objectives
The overarching activities for this role are:
- Develop an income generation plan, aligning with the financial planning cycle, with a periodic review and reporting cycle. Deliver against the plan.

How much commitment is required?

Volunteer: Data & Analytics / Funding Research Assistant
Jawbone Collective CIC
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical volunteer to support our data-driven decision-making and fundraising efforts. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys researching, organising information, and using data to tell a meaningful story — especially within a creative, community-focused arts environment.
You will help us collect, interpret, and present data that demonstrates our impact to funders, partners, and stakeholders. You’ll also contribute to researching grant opportunities, supporting funding bids, and strengthening our ability to secure financial resources for future programmes and accessible literary initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

Since 1979 the organisation has acquired eight climbing sites across England and Wales with legal ownership currently split between the Land & Property Trust (LPT, registered charity, No: 05611715), BMC Land Holdings Ltd and the BMC centrally. The sites include sport climbing, bouldering and traditional crags, the full list in date order of acquisition is:

Landownership and management is an important aspect of the BMC's work and responsibilities are split between the LPT, and the Land Management Group (LMG) add link which comprises volunteers with backgrounds in geotechnical engineering, law and environmental management. Day-to-day site operations are managed by a part time Land & Property Contractor (100 days per year), operating under the guidance of LPT and LMG, plus additional support staff providing core office services. Please note that these responsibilities do not extend to the BMC head office, or to owned / managed huts.
We are seeking up to four volunteer trustees to support the work of the British Muntaineering Council (BMC)’s Land & Property Trust (LPT).
LPT is a registered charity (No: 05611715) with responsibility for the overall management of BMC owned and managed sites. LPT was incorporated in 2005 and in early 2025, adopted a new constitution and Operating Agreement defining its’ purpose and relationship with the BMC. The sites include sport climbing, bouldering and traditional crags.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
- Attend a minimum of two LPT meetings each year and contribute to the work of the Trust
- Provide expertise, knowledge and support mainly through email correspondence throughout the year
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Background in land & property management, law, fundraising, finance, governance or the environmental sector
- Direct knowledge of BMC sites and climbing more generally will also be beneficial
- Email and/or phone availability and willingness to be contacted
- Good communication skills
- Resident in or near the area covered
- Understand and follow relevant BMC policies and guidance
WHEN, WHERE AND HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED TO GIVE?
- A minimum of 2 meetings per year wither online or face to face with follow-ups via email between meetings.
- Ideally this would be a 3-year term with the possibility to extend for a second 3-year term.

- Additional support will be required initially to consolidate the BMC's overall property portfolio under a single entity and fully establish LPT’s financial relationship with the BMC. This will require the chair to work closely with senior BMC staff and board members.
