Across the UK, our 65 local branches work with disabled people to help them live the lives they choose. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.

As our local branch Finance/Treasurer volunteer, you’ll make sure your branch gets the most for its money. You’ll maintain income and expenditure records to document and report on branch finances. You’ll manage their accounts and make financial information easy to understand.

What the role involves

This is a varied role that each branch tends to do a bit differently, but it will involve:

• Accurately maintaining income and expenditure records to  document and report on branch finances

• Offering objectivity around the spending of money and ensuring money is spent in a cost-effective manner

• Approving income and expenditure with the other branch bank account signatories

• Ensuring that our financial requirements and policies relating to group finances are followed

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, and there’s an induction that covers all the areas above. You’ll also have chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us.

Essential Criteria:

Our Volunteer Treasurers/ Finance Assistants will manage the bank account for the local branch.  To be accepted by the bank you need an acceptable credit rating, be a UK resident and preferably live in the area of the REMAP branch you are applying for. 

What you’ll need for this role: 

• Confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email

• Experience in bookkeeping, budgeting, and planning income and expenditure

• Able to apply disability, equality, and inclusion practices

• Able to keep people’s personal data safe

• A commitment to our aims and values

You’ll also need to complete the induction checklist and some online training.

Where will I volunteer?

The Finance Volunteer role is largely home based, but it varies from branch to branch – some branches hold in-person meetings once a month or so, and their Finance Volunteers must be based in the area the branch covers. Your local branch will be able to provide more information.

Time commitment

This also varies, but it’s generally around 1-2 hours a week.

• Talk to customers about Gift Aid and other fundraising initiatives.

As part of the Government led Communities for Afghans programme, we are looking to recruit individuals or groups (UK BASED ONLY) to make up a team of 6 volunteers to support an Afghan family - you could be friends, neighbours, colleagues, faith groups, veterans, or community organisations are welcome.

We are currently focused on supporting families across Wales, West Midlands and Scotland but be keen to support elsewhere geographically where possible.  With this in mind, you may live in these areas, but we are also delighted to bring volunteers together remotely to support a family.

The Communities for Afghans programme is a community-led Government initiative supporting families as they rebuild their lives in the UK. It is a Government-approved scheme that enables local people to welcome Afghan refugee families into their community. Volunteers will be supported by us to find housing for a family, provide practical and emotional support enabling them to settle into daily life and feel a genuine sense of belonging in the community.

How community sponsorship work

1. Form a Sponsor Group: Create a team of six or more volunteers — friends, neighbours, colleagues, faith groups, veterans, or community organisations.
2. Training & Ongoing Support: Our partners provide full training, so your group feels confident and well prepared. This simple, practical training is offered before you begin and continues throughout the sponsorship journey.
3. Identify Suitable Housing: With our guidance, your group helps find long-term accommodation. We then match an Afghan family of the appropriate size and ensure the property is suitable and affordable. Government funding is available for rent deposits and related costs.
4. Welcome & Support the Family: Volunteers help the family register with schools, healthcare, benefits, and local services, while introducing them to the community and supporting them as they adjust to life in the UK.
5. Be the Local Point of Contact: You act as the family’s trusted guide, helping them navigate the area, understand local systems, and access opportunities that only residents truly know.
6. Commit for Three Years: Sponsor groups support the family for three years, providing consistency as they grow in independence, confidence, and resilience.

One25 Hub Service

 The One25 Hub provides access to a safe space for women who street sex work.

On Monday and Wednesday the women can see a specialist nurse, sexual health nurse, and GP.
On Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Friday women can also access the things they need like clothing and hot food.

Hub volunteer: Role Description

 We are looking for volunteers to join our team on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 12pm to 4pm to support in the running One25's Hub.

We are looking for 1 or 2 volunteers each day to support One25 staff manage the Hub space.

Volunteers will welcome women with a warm hello and a hot drink. Volunteers will also provide emotional support to women while also helping them access items such as sanitary products, condoms, personal alarms, takeaway food bags, hot food and clothing.

Commitments needed:

· 2 weekdays per month on either a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday from 12-4pm

· To complete a Volunteer Induction, Safeguarding and Boundaries training

· To complete the Volunteer Experience survey every 6 months

· Able to travel to and from St Pauls, Bristol.

· Attend probation review after 10 shifts and if requested external support (which we would fund).

· Take instructions from the Hub support workers

· Communicating to staff any safeguarding concerns you have about the women

· Being clear and firm with women around boundaries and hub rules.

· Receive ongoing support, regular debriefs and opportunities for external supervision.

We’ve got an exciting opportunity for a volunteer to support our Fundraising Team!
 

Role Description

We are looking for one or two Christmas fair coordinators. Our Christmas Fair is a large festive community fundraising event held at Warmley Community Centre, running across a single Sunday in late November from 10.30am to 4pm. It brings together our own Bristol A.R.C. stalls alongside third party stallholders, and includes a festive pet photoshoot, a dog show, live music, a bake sale, raffle and tombolas, refreshments and children’s activities. It is one of our key community events of the year and a really lovely day out for local people and their pets.

This is an event coordination volunteer role leading on the organising of the fair, with the help and support of the Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager and the Fundraising Partnerships Officer in the office, as well as some other volunteers supporting the event.

This will be the fair’s second year, so a full and detailed handover is already in place, along with ongoing support from the two staff members named above and a group of volunteers who have helped to organise it before.
 

What would I be doing as a Volunteer Christmas Fair Coordinator?

As part of this role, you will be:

• Helping with the overall planning and coordination of the Christmas Fair, keeping everything on track in the months leading up to the event.
• Being the main point of contact for the venue, Warmley Community Centre, including agreeing the room layout and putting together a floor plan for the day.
• Assisting in recruiting, supporting and coordinating the team of event volunteers, including helping to run volunteer information sessions, allocating roles, creating the volunteer timetable, and keeping everyone informed and confident in the lead up to the day. 
• Recruiting and liaising with third party stallholders, including managing their bookings, stall fees, agreements and raffle prize donations. 
• Coordinating our own Bristol A.R.C. stalls and attractions, such as the children’s activities, the pet items shop, the bake sale, teddy adoption, the raffle and tombolas, and refreshments.
• Organising the key attractions that make the day special, including the festive pet photo shoot, the dog show and the live music, working with the volunteers and contacts who help to run them.
• Securing donations of prizes and items from local businesses and community groups for the raffle, tombolas and other stalls.
• Facilitating promotion of the event alongside the staff team, including posters, banners, local press and social media, and keeping track of where everything has been shared.
• Organising the preparation in the run up to the fair, such as the volunteer craft and prep evenings, sorting the floats and card payment setup, and getting the signage, floor plan and logistics ready.
• Overseeing the smooth set up and running of the event on the day, coordinating the volunteer team so that everything runs well from start to finish.
• Helping to make sure the event is safe and well run, including the risk assessment, first aid cover and allergen requirements, again with the support of the staff team.

What’s important for me to know?

here will be ongoing support from the Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager and the Fundraising Partnerships Officer, a detailed handover from last year’s fair, and an existing group of experienced volunteers who have helped to run the event before.

A lot of the groundwork is already in place from the first year, including templates, supplier and stallholder contacts, venue arrangements and tried and tested ways of doing things, so the volunteer would be building on solid foundations rather than starting from scratch. 

This would be a brilliant opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in event coordination and community fundraising, or for anyone who simply loves the idea of leading a joyful, festive event that raises vital funds for the animals in our care.

How are the shifts arranged, and how often would I volunteer?

This is a short term role running from September to late November, Initially your shift would be typically once a week, on the same day at the same time. We’re looking for someone who is available on a Thursday, preferably.  Occasionally during this time this role will involve some evening availability, mainly for speaking with the wider volunteer team and for the craft and preparation evenings in the lead up to the event. You would ideally be available for the full day of the fair itself, which runs on a Sunday in late November, with an early start for set up. 

What other dates do I need to be available for?

Subject to shortlisting, we shall be holding informal volunteer interviews for this role during September. If you are offered the role, initial on-site training for the role will begin in September.

Who will I be volunteering with?

• Our Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager and the Fundraising Partnerships Officer, will be the people you will volunteer alongside directly
• The office is also where the marketing and communications team work.
• You will be volunteering alongside a team of events volunteers and staff at the fair.

What skills and attributes might I need for this role, ideally?

Experience, enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved is always useful, and we would welcome hearing in particular about how you are:

• Organised, with the ability to keep track of lots of different moving parts and plan ahead over a number of months.
• Confident and friendly when working with people, as the role involves speaking with staff, volunteers, stallholders and the venue, and being a welcoming point of contact throughout.
• A natural coordinator who is happy leading a team of volunteers, allocating roles and keeping everyone informed and motivated in the lead up to the day.

Friends of Refugees London offers befriending and advocacy services to refugees and migrants - we are looking for an organised, friendly Volunteer Coordinator to help manage our volunteer programme, ensuring volunteers and clients have a positive experience from their first enquiry through to being matched and beyond. 

About the role 

This is a varied and rewarding coordination role that is pivotal to the charity’s work. You'll help guide volunteers through every stage of their journey with us, from initial enquiry through to them being matched with a client and throughout the befriending relationship. 

Working closely with our small, friendly group of trustees, you will be the main point of contact to keep our volunteer programme running smoothly through a mixture of administration, communication, and coordination. As a small charity, we're flexible and collaborative, and you'll have the opportunity to help shape how we grow. 

Key responsibilities 

• Respond to enquiries from prospective volunteers and help guide them through the application process.
• Assess volunteer applications and shortlist candidates. 
• Co-ordinate volunteer interviews with trustees. 
• Manage the volunteer onboarding process, including DBS checks, references and training invitations.
• Coordinate matches between befrienders and clients, with support from the wider team.
• Maintain accurate volunteer and client records using spreadsheets and online systems.
• Keep in regular contact with volunteers throughout their journey, answering queries, providing updates, and flagging any issues to the trustees. 
• Support the organisation of volunteer training sessions and other events as needed.
• Support the charity’s internal and public-facing communications.
• Help identify ways to improve our volunteer processes as the charity continues to develop.

You will work form our office based in East London to support with raising funds for our events and organisation in the long term.

- Assisting with researching and approaching corporate entities, national and international, for event sponsorships, partnerships, Charity of the Year partnerships, and donations from corporate foundations

- Assisting with writing and delivering compelling presentations and proposals for funding to trusts, foundations and other institutes

- Writing emails and speaking with potential partners over the phone about the work of Choice with the aim of securing funds for the organisation.

You will have the following skills and experience:

- A good level of  written and oral communication

- Experience of writing funding proposals and working in fundraising would be an advantage

- Knowledge of corporate fundraising techniques including Charity of the Year, sponsorship, donations, marketing would be an advantage
