To guide Hackney CVS through a new chapter, we are looking to strengthen our Board with individuals who bring professional and lived experience.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for our next Treasurer, and trustees to join our Finance, Audit and Risk Sub-Committee, with experience in strategic financial management, liaising with external investment managers and an understanding of investment policies and practice. Expertise in charity finance including understanding of Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) is also preferable.

Additionally, we are looking for individuals with expertise in change management, people and culture, ideally with experience in purpose-driven organisations.

We're keen to hear from both experienced trustees, and those without previous trustee experience interested in the opportunity to learn and develop.

We strongly encourage applications from local residents, and individuals with lived experience of the specific challenges and opportunities in Hackney and the City of London, and those representing the diverse communities we serve.

Key accountabilities

All trustees are accountable to the Co-Chairs of the Board.

Their role is to:

• Ensure that the organisation pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy

• Ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations

• Ensure that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuit of its charitable objects

• Ensure that the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets • Safeguard the good name and values of the organisation

• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place

• Ensure the financial stability of the organisation

• Protect and manage the property of the charity and ensuring the proper investment of the charity’s funds

• Follow proper and formal arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of the Chief Executive

In addition, trustees may take on specific responsibilities through our sub-committees or task and finish groups. Trustees may also lead for the board on significant projects or pieces of work to provide oversight and challenge.

Volunteer as a princess, superhero or jedi to bring magic to children who need it! 

Make a Smile volunteers can take on a number of different roles:

1. Characters - Visit children in costume, as well-known children's characters (eg princesses and superheroes). Provide support at events of a number of other charities, children's hospitals and council organisations through storytime, interactions and activities. 

2. Magic Makers - Visit children out of costume and provide enrichment such as arts and crafts, games etc. 

3. Committee - Help behind the scenes by organising events, recruiting volunteers, running training sessions, helping sort costumes, running fundraisers etc.

The Prout Bridge Project offers youth, mental-health and community services. It was set up by the community in 2016 in response to cuts in youth and family provision. The scope of our work has evolved in response to our community’s needs through the Covid pandemic and cost-of-living crisis.

We operate from the town of Beaminster in West Dorset, supporting a wider area of villages and towns covering parts of Dorset, Somerset and Devon.

Our aim is to support children, young people and adults to participate, thrive and connect as part of an inclusive and resilient community. 

Multiple essential services are housed under one roof including:

• Safe and supportive youth clubs where our young people can thrive, in sports, music, art, outdoor and other activities. 
• Experienced youth worker mental health support in schools and one-to-one sessions for young people who are struggling + outreach in the town, skatepark and surrounding villages
• A community hub, bringing people together in local social, sports and craft groups + a baby and parent group, providing a safe warm space, and giving easy access to advice services.

Migrateful is looking for new Trustees to help guide our next chapter! Migrateful runs cookery classes in London and Bristol led by refugees and migrants to support them on their journey to integration & employment.
 

Trustees play a vital role in setting strategic direction, strengthening governance and acting as critical friends to the executive team, ensuring Migrateful continues to deliver high quality, impactful work in line with its charitable purpose.

We are currently looking for a trustee with financial qualifications and experience, ideally including charity finance and fundraising, who will support the Finance and Risk Subcommittee. This includes overseeing budgets, monitoring financial performance, reviewing financial and operational risks, and providing assurance on internal control systems to support financial decision-making.

Trustees will play a pivotal role in ensuring Migrateful can continue to grow and deliver meaningful impact for migrant and refugee communities. They will help support the continued expansion of our cookery class programme, which provides vital training, employment and integration opportunities and a platform for migrant-led cultural exchange.

Who we are

For 15 years, Tutor Trust has been changing lives through high-quality tutoring, building long-term partnerships with schools across the North. We’re driven by a vision of an education system that provides excellence, equity and opportunity to every child and young person in the UK. Last year, we supported over 6,000 pupils across 149 schools, with 92% either entitled to Pupil Premium funding or attending schools in low-income areas. Our impact is proven: primary pupils made 7.07 scaled score points progress in their SATs, while secondary pupils made 0.86 grades progress at GCSE level.

We recruit talented university students, many from the communities we serve, who act as relatable role models while delivering evidence-based tutoring. Our approach works: Education Endowment Foundation trials showed our pupils made three months’ additional progress in maths, with even greater gains for those eligible for Free School Meals.

Following the end of the National Tutoring Programme, we’re continuing to successfully navigate challenges while maintaining our school partnerships and impact. We’ve diversified our programme, expanding into phonics, post-16 GCSE resits, and growing our specialist Tutoring Plus work for pupils with complex needs by 135%. We’re now implementing an ambitious strategy to 2028 that will see us broaden our reach, expand into new regions, and advocate for tutoring to become a permanent part of the education system, ensuring that every young person, regardless of where they grow up, has access to the support they need to thrive.

About the role

We’re looking for two trustees who will join our board of Trustees and sit on our Education Committee, bringing the voice of secondary school leadership to our board. This is a chance to contribute to something genuinely transformative during a period of both challenge and opportunity for education, working towards a future where excellence and equity go hand in hand across the North and beyond.

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for people with secondary school leadership experience, such as headteachers, executive heads, or senior leaders in multi-academy trusts, who understand the pressures schools face and the realities of serving disadvantaged communities. You’ll bring an understanding of boards and governance, demonstrating strategic thinking and appropriate challenge, alongside a genuine passion for closing the attainment gap and creating opportunity for all young people to succeed.

We’re particularly keen to hear from leaders across Liverpool, Merseyside, Leeds, Yorkshire, and the North East. We are interested in people with experience of school improvement, Ofsted, or broader curriculum expertise alongside secondary leadership.

While our primary focus is on educational leadership, we’re also interested in hearing from people with expertise in digital, fundraising, PR and marketing; skills that will be valuable as we implement our ambitious growth strategy and build our vision of an education system rooted in excellence and equity.

Time commitment

Board meetings are held six times a year, typically at 8:00 a.m. for two hours, with most meetings conducted online and some held in person in Manchester. As members of the Education Committee, you’ll also attend termly committee meetings online, along with an annual half-day strategy session held in person. The overall time commitment is equivalent to up to a day per month.

RSPCA Milton Keynes & North Bucks Branch

Would you like to help our Events & fundraising team? We’re looking for a friendly, organised person who can give just a few hours a week to support our events team at the MK RSPCA. The RSPCA Milton Keynes & North Bucks Branch

The Milton Keynes & North Bucks Branch is one of the branches of RSPCA, but we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Much of the animal welfare work of RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which is run by volunteers who have the support of the National Society of RSPCA.

Volunteer Events Coordinator responsibilities

• Contacting stallholders to follow up on payments and documents
• Keeping our shared Google Drive and spreadsheets tidy and up to date
• Reaching out to local businesses for raffle prizes, donations, or sponsorships
• Completing event paperwork and liaising with organisers
• Coordinating with shop teams to gather donated items and arranging drop-off/collection

Starfish is an international development charity aiming to bring life, hope and opportunity to children in South Africa who have been orphaned or made vulnerable through HIV/AIDS and poverty. Starfish are looking for an enthusiastic person who is passionate about international development with good writing skills. The internship will be varied and include: researching trusts and foundations, writing applications, sending out applications & reports, managing data, and supporting event preparations. The Starfish UK London office is small and therefore you will become very much part of the team, being able to experience the operations of a dynamic international charity. This is a great opportunity to gain invaluable experience and enhance your CV. Desired experience - Use of Microsoft packages, organisational skills, good communication skills, research skills and the ability to work well in a team. Role starting February 2026. 

This position is for minimum 3 days a week, working from home with a March event in central London. 

Community and Fundraising Volunteers play a vital role in raising funds and awareness to support mums experiencing perinatal mental health challenges. This is a friendly, hands-on role where you’ll help plan, prepare, and deliver fundraising and community engagement activities. From supporting events and running stalls to chatting with supporters and sharing information about MumsAid’s services, you’ll be an important part of a welcoming and supportive team. 

No previous experience is required — just enthusiasm, reliability, and a genuine desire to support mums and their families. 

What will you be doing? 

• Supporting the planning and delivery of fundraising and community events, such as charity stalls, coffee mornings, sponsored activities, and awareness days. 

• Helping to create a lively, positive, and welcoming atmosphere at MumsAid events. 

• Engaging with members of the public, supporters, and participants, celebrating their involvement and encouraging donations. 

• Talking to people about MumsAid’s work and signposting to support where appropriate. 

• Assisting with event set-up and pack-down to ensure everything runs smoothly. 

• Handling cash and card donations responsibly, in line with MumsAid procedures. 

• Helping to raise awareness of perinatal mental health and the importance of early support. 

• Being part of a team that helps make MumsAid events inspiring, inclusive, and memorable. 

• Following MumsAid’s policies and procedures, including health and safety and safeguarding, to ensure events run smoothly.

• Overseeing an appropriate programme of awareness raising activities so that potential beneficiaries, volunteers and supporters are aware of SSAFA as first in mind for support.
• Building relationships with the regional and national SSAFA team, local voluntary organisations and, if applicable, SSAFA serving community teams, local military establishments, etc.
• Attending events as a key SSAFA representative.
• Providing timely reports and information to SSAFA’s central office
• Overseeing a programme of meetings including an AGM, branch meetings, committee meetings, training etc.
• Working with other volunteers, regional and national team members to attract and recruit new volunteers as required.
• Work closely with the community engagement co-ordinator to recruit, welcome, induct, support, and manage volunteers in line with SSAFA policies, such as the Volunteering Policy, Volunteer Code of Conduct, Data Protection Policy, and Safeguarding Policy.
