Can establish a positive, stable and long-term relationship with a young person.

Is reliable, non-judgemental, a good listener and able to engage with a child/young person.

Meeting with the young person on a regular basis in the community for a couple of hours.

Join the small, diverse and friendly team of an independent advocacy charity in Lewisham as Trustee. Lewisham Speaking Up is a rights-based organisation that speaks up for independence and power for people with learning disabilities and/or autism. You will contribute to the governance of a grass roots local charity with a great track record. There will be opportunities to meet with beneficiaries and learn about their lives. You will be helping to address the discrimination and inequalities faced by adults with learning disabilities.

We all work together towards our vision for a society where people with learning disabilities are listened to, recognised, respected and included in all decisions about their lives. We are looking for trustees who are committed to helping the organisation achieve this. Our beneficiaries are included at all levels of the organisation from being Board members to being paid staff, volunteers and participating in all our services.

A Trustee must be willing to offer scrutiny, assistance and advice to support the charity's operations, stability, and growth.  You will work with other board members and the charity’s Director in achieving this.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a friendly, patient, and non-judgemental person with an interest in disability rights and equality who is passionate about and committed to the organisation's mission, vision, and values.

Some of our board members have a learning disability (known as experts by experience) and we expect all board members to support and give positive encouragement to our board members with learning disabilities. We need trustees who will show commitment to the charity's vision and mission and are willing to understand the issues affecting the people we work with. Experience or knowledge of people with learning disabilities would be useful but is not essential. Previous charity experience or knowledge would be useful but is not essential. 

We require a trustee with at least 3 years' proven experience and skills in one or more of the areas listed below:

• Human Resources (HR) - processes, policies and recruitment
• Media/Digital - support website, social media, communications
• Legal - support with the charity's legal obligations
• Management – project/programme management and coaching/mentoring

We are seeking new Professional members of the Registry Steering Committee (RSC) to help shape the future of the Registry and ensure it meets the needs of people with CF, clinical teams, researchers and other stakeholders.

This is a voluntary role (unpaid), but reasonable expenses can be claimed for travel to attend meetings in person if required.

This role part time and home based.  This is a UK based role and candidates need to be UK based.

Term and commitment

• RSC membership term: three years (minimum one term).
• RSC meets quarterly (commitment to attend at least two meetings per year).

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to strategic discussions and decision-making about the Registry’s direction.
• Review RSC papers and related documents outside scheduled meetings.
• Act as an advocate for the UK CF Registry.
• Optional: Join the Registry Data Review Group. This group meets online every six weeks and members provide Registry data request approval.

Essential experience and attributes

• Knowledge of cystic fibrosis and its key challenges.
• Ability to actively contribute to committee discussions and support informed decision-making.
• Ideally some experience working with the UK CF Registry or using its data outputs.
• CF clinicians and AHPs should be members of relevant professional bodies (e.g., BTS/BPRS, RCP/RCN, Cystic Fibrosis Specialist Group, CFMA).

The Treasurer is a trustee responsible for overseeing the financial affairs of the organisation, ensuring that finances are managed in line with legal requirements, good practice, and the organisation’s charitable aims.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

• Ensure the organisation’s financial resources are managed responsibly and sustainably.
• Lead on financial strategy, planning, and risk management.
• Oversee the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Read Easy provides free, confidential, one to-one reading coaching for adults who struggle with reading, through a network of volunteer groups. Read Easy groups are changing the lives of individual adults across the country by providing them with the support they need to learn to read, and in turn opening doors for them to all sorts of new opportunities in life. As the Team Leader you are responsible for the proper and effective direction of your local group. This role will appeal to someone with enthusiasm and energy who will enjoy managing a team of diverse volunteers. Ideally, the Team Leader will remain in this role for at least two years.

How we will support you

You will be provided with the Management Team Handbook, training/induction, policies, and guidance specifically needed for this role, including access to support from a Read Easy UK Regional Adviser, via your Team Leader. You will also be invited to Read Easy UK’s regional forums and annual conference which gives volunteers an opportunity for networking with those from other groups.

● Leading the Management Team in setting goals and planning activities so that it functions effectively in delivering reading coaching to as many local people as possible.

● Encouraging and supporting Team members to fulfil and enjoy their roles, and managing succession planning for the group.

Family Friends carefully recruit, train, and match volunteers with families in Central-West London. Our volunteer befrienders offer practical and emotional support based on each family's unique needs and potential. We offer two volunteer opportunities - Big Buddies and Parent Buddies.

Volunteers will aim to help parents to discover their strengths, build confidence, and resolve difficulties. Volunteers meet with their match weekly for a period of up to 12 months.

Activities might include:

• Supporting a parent to take their children on days out.
• Helping to strengthen family relationships.
• Providing a listening ear.
• Helping parents to build confidence in themselves.

Essential Criteria:

• You must be able to commit to the Parent Buddy programme for a minimum of 6 months.

• Must have lived in the UK for the last 2 years

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop

Our Broughty Ferry Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

We know that our shop teams are stronger when they are inclusive and representative of their communities. Everybody can make a real difference. People come to us for all sorts of reasons, from all backgrounds, and we will do what we can to find a role that works for you.

What happens next?

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. Are you passionate about supporting older adults and making a positive impact in your local community?
Queen’s Crescent Community Association (QCCA) is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our vibrant 55+ Programme in the heart of Camden.

QCCA is one of London’s most active and inclusive community centres, offering a wide range of free activities and support services for older residents (55+). Since 2002, our mission has been to help build a happier, healthier, and more connected community—especially within one of Camden’s most deprived neighbourhoods.

What We Offer – Weekly Activities

As part of our commitment to improving wellbeing, reducing isolation, and encouraging meaningful engagement, we run a variety of sessions each week, including:

• Chair‑based exercise
• Coffee mornings
• Gym sessions
• Drama sessions
• Reflexology

Volunteer Role

We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers who enjoy socialising and building rapport with older people. Key responsibilities may include:

• Welcoming and chatting with participants
• Supporting the setup and pack‑down of activities
• Ordering and organising supplies
• Keeping accurate attendance records
• Acommpany outings and events in London (e.g., gardens, museums, music and theatre trips). 

This role is ideal for anyone who enjoys connecting with people, contributing to the community, or gaining experience in a supportive charitable environment.

If you have a particular skill or hobby you would love to share (art, music, movement, crafts, language, etc.), we would be delighted to explore incorporating it into our activity timetable.

Volunteer Hours (Options)

This is a voluntary role.
Activities run Monday to Friday, and each session lasts 2–3 hours. Volunteers can choose the days and sessions that best suit their availability.
