Are you ready to lead the UK’s pioneer in intergenerational arts into its most ambitious chapter yet?
"I will never look at a teenager the same again!" — Older participant
"I will see the older generation with a new perspective." — Student
At Magic Me, we bring generations together through extraordinary creative projects that dismantle ageism, build lasting community connections, and reduce loneliness across London. 92% of our participants report increased confidence to try new things, and 93% feel more connected to their community.
As we prepare to launch our bold 2027–2032 Strategy, we are looking for an inspiring, networked cultural leader to step into the role of Chair of the Board of Trustees (or join as part of a Co-Chair model) and help us tackle ageism and connect the generations.
Why this role stands out:
- You will take post in April 2027, right at the launch of our 2027–2032 strategy co-created with over 60 community stakeholders.
- You’ll help us create London’s first Intergenerational Borough in Tower Hamlets, forge exciting arts & cultural venue partnerships, and launch a 40th-anniversary physical and digital archive.
- You will lead a stable, healthy charity holding £150,000 in unrestricted reserves (50% above policy), anchored by Arts Council England NPO status and strong Trust & Foundation funding.
- You’ll act as a strategic sounding board and mentor to our dynamic Co-CEOs (Executive Director and Creative Director) who took the helm in late 2025.
- You'll steward our active, engaged board and be supported by four high functioning sub-committees (Creative Strategy, People, Fundraising & Marketing, Finance, Audit & Risk) so the Chair can stay focused on high-level strategy and advocacy.
Open to alternative leadership models!
Collaboration is at the heart of our values. We actively welcome applications for a Co-Chair structure or pairing with a Vice-Chair. Whether you are a senior arts leader seeking your first board leadership role or an experienced charity Chair looking to partner with a passionate creative practitioner, we’d love to explore how this could work for you.
Who we’re looking for:
- Arts & cultural leadership: Experience leading major programmes, projects, or organisations in the creative or cultural sector.
- Advocacy & door-opening: A natural networker who can connect Magic Me with high-profile cultural partners and funders.
- Passion for participatory arts: A genuine belief in the power of creative practice to change lives, challenge preconceptions, and strengthen communities.
- Inclusive & warm approach: Strategic clarity paired with empathy, excellent facilitation skills, and a strong commitment to EDI and anti-ageist principles.
We particularly encourage applications from candidates from racially minoritised backgrounds (including the Bangladeshi community in Tower Hamlets), LGBTQ+ individuals, and disabled candidates. Connections to Tower Hamlets are welcome, though not essential.

Settle is a charity that supports young adults as they leave the care system and move into their first home. We provide intensive one-to-one coaching support, helping young people develop the skills and confidence they need to sustain their tenancies, manage their finances and live independently. Our preventative approach to homelessness helps care-experienced young people build stable foundations and thrive in adulthood.
All our Trustees bring different personal experience and professional expertise to support our work. To make sure we keep young people at the centre of our decision-making, we aim to always have at least two Trustees with care experience.
We are now looking for new Trustees to help us deliver our mission. We are seeking people with experience in one or more of the following areas:
· Policy influencing and/or strategic communications
· Support for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness
· Support for people seeking asylum and refuge
Our aim is to recruit at least two new Trustees, who between them bring experience across all three areas. We don’t expect you to lead an area of work at Settle – that’s the responsibility of the staff team. We are keen to benefit from your advice, insight and understanding of the key issues we’re dealing with.
We are committed to increasing the diversity of our staff and Board team, and we particularly welcome applications from people from minoritised ethnic backgrounds, or with other lived experience of discrimination. We are proud to be a member of the Care Leaver Covenant, and care-experienced applicants who meet the criteria for this role will be guaranteed an interview.
Our vision is a 21st century Britain where no young person is homeless and all young people get a fair chance at doing well.

We would still be happy to host you if space is available. However, in a situation where the shared houses are full, this would allow us to offer an opportunity to someone that cannot afford to pay rent.

Consider applying to become a Communications Coordinator. Whether your experience lies in the humanitarian sector or elsewhere, we are looking for people with expertise that can drive us forward as an organisation.
Looking for an internship?

St Basils is looking for a new Non-Exec Director / Trustee with Marketing & Communications experience to join our Board
About Us
St Basils works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, to enable them to find and keep a home, grow their confidence, develop their skills, increase opportunities and ultimately prevent homelessness.
We help just over 4,000 young people each year across the West Midlands, with services in Birmingham, Coventry, Sandwell, Solihull, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Our services range from providing supported accommodation to outreach, advice, support, employability and engagement services to help young people regain the stability they need to rebuild their lives, gain skills, confidence and employment and move on. Our new Director / Trustee will sit on our Business Support & Audit Committee which oversees central functions, including Finance, HR, Fundraising and Marketing. This committee meets virtually, one a quarter.
Although the role is voluntary, reasonable expenses will be paid for costs incurred in undertaking the role.
About You
You will be an experienced professional in marketing, communications, PR or brand strategy, ideally with experience in the youth or homelessness sectors.
You will demonstrate sound judgement and be able to challenge confidently and constructively, although you do not need to have Board experience.

A Board away day is held each year, usually October, and every other year this includes an overnight stay. This will be fully paid for by St Basils.

We offer a series of essential online training courses (for example GDPR, Cyber Security, EDI, Safeguarding, Risk Management) and the opportunity to do additional online or in-person training, such as Psychologically Informed Environment training. As part of our commitment to race equality, we provide mandatory Anti-Racism training for all staff and Board members.
You will be part of a knowledgeable and supportive Board and have the opportunity to work alongside young people with lived experience.
You will have the guidance of a knowledgeable Chair to support your development as a Director / Trustee, and you will have access to St Basils’ Senior Leadership Team to help you fulfil your role.

About Swansea Carers Centre
Swansea Carers Centre is a vibrant, welcoming Tier 2 charity supporting unpaid carers across the City & County of Swansea. Every year, over 1,800 carers access our services, and more than 10,500 carers have registered with us since our founding. We provide welfare benefits advice, counselling, respite opportunities, dementia support, young adult carer projects, volunteer‑led initiatives, training, social groups and more. The services are all designed to ensure carers feel valued, connected and empowered. We also look to identify hidden carers and make certain that people looking after others can find the support they need.
An unpaid carer is anyone who provides support to a family member, friend or neighbour due to a variety of reasons which could include illness, disability, mental health needs, addiction, or age‑related frailty. Many people do not recognise themselves as carers yet they take on vital responsibilities that can have a profound impact on their wellbeing, finances and daily life. Our vision is a society where carers are recognised, respected and supported as equal partners in care. Our mission is to make a positive difference to carers’ lives by working in partnership with carers, statutory bodies and voluntary organisations.
The Role
The Chair will lead a committed Board of Trustees, ensuring Swansea Carers Centre is well-governed, financially sustainable and forward‑looking.
You will work closely with our CEO and Senior Management Team to embed strong governance practices, support strategic decision‑making, and champion a culture of empowerment across the organisation. This is a pivotal leadership role at a time when carers’ needs are growing, and the charity is strengthening its strategic direction.
We are particularly seeking a Chair who can:
- Embed modern, effective governance approaches
- Support the Board to focus on strategic leadership rather than operational detail
- Empower staff and volunteers to deliver high‑quality, carer‑led services
- Build strong partnerships with local authorities, health bodies, funders and community organisations
- Represent Swansea Carers Centre with confidence and credibility
Monthly Board meetings are held in person in Swansea, and we welcome applications from candidates based elsewhere who are willing to travel to attend.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Board to ensure balanced, inclusive and focused discussion
- Promote high standards of governance and regulatory compliance
- Provide strategic leadership and support effective decision‑making
- Build a strong, supportive working relationship with the CEO
- Ensure trustees receive timely, relevant information
- Champion carers’ interests and represent the charity externally
- Support succession planning and Board development
- Attend approximately 12 Board meetings per year, plus occasional sub‑committees and events
Term: Three years, renewable
Who We’re Looking For
Essential Experience
- Experience chairing Boards, committees or senior governance meetings
- Strong understanding of charity governance and trusteeship
- Proven leadership and excellent communication skills
- Strategic thinker with sound judgement
- Ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships
- Commitment to improving the lives of unpaid carers
- Financial awareness and comfort with digital tools
- Integrity, emotional intelligence and a collaborative approach
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Chair or Vice Chair
- Experience in voluntary, community, health or social care sectors
- Knowledge of charity finance, fundraising or organisational development
- Experience working with diverse communities

About the club:
Saltire Thistle Football Club is Glasgow’s LGBTQ+ inclusive football club, founded in 2010 to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ people to play football, meet new people and be part of a community. Today, we bring together a diverse, mixed-ability membership and offer opportunities to get involved both on and off the pitch, from regular training and matches to social events, fundraising and community activity.
We are proud to be about more than football. We work with partners across the LGBTQ+ and wider community to promote inclusion and challenge discrimination in sport, while creating a club where everyone can feel welcome and involved.
Our 15th anniversary year in 2025 was a particular highlight. In addition to producing a podcast ‘The Saltire Thistle Story’ we were delighted to be recognised at the national Football v Homophobia Awards, winning both the Grassroots Clubs Award and the FvH Scotland Award in recognition of our commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion and our impact within the community.
As we look towards the next chapter of the club, we are excited to build on that work, grow our membership (which totalled over 70 in season 25-26) and continue creating opportunities for people to get involved in football, regardless of experience or ability.
To find out more about the club check out our LinkTree which links to our website and social media pages.

Act as a visible and approachable point of contact for members to raise feedback, ideas or concerns relating to inclusion and equality.
-
Work with the wider committee to identify opportunities to maintain the club’s inclusive ethos whilst ensuring the experiences and voices of our diverse membership are reflected in the club's development.
