The Greater Manchester Women’s Support Alliance is seeking new trustees to join our Board, including a Chair and Treasurer.

The Alliance brings together organisations across Greater Manchester that provide specialist support to women facing issues such as domestic abuse, homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use and social exclusion. By working collaboratively, we strengthen services, share expertise and ensure that women’s voices are represented in policy and commissioning.

We are looking for individuals who share our commitment to improving outcomes for women and who are interested in contributing to the strategic leadership and governance of the Alliance.

We welcome applications from people with a range of backgrounds and experience. In particular, we are interested in hearing from individuals with experience in areas such as:

• financial management or accounting (particularly for the Treasurer role)
• leadership or governance
• partnerships, policy or public sector collaboration
• the voluntary or women’s sector.

Previous trustee experience is not required, and we welcome applications from people who are new to board roles.

Time commitment: approximately four board meetings per year, plus preparation.

These are voluntary trustee roles, although reasonable expenses may be reimbursed.

Thank you for your interest in joining Girls in Sport as our new Fundraising Trustee. Established in 2017, we are a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) dedicated to improving the lives of young people.We are currently working in West Africa.

Sport for Social Impact

We believe that sport can be a powerful conduit for social change - from the grassroots.In sport we are challenging gender stereotypes. With a focus on locally led interventions in protected settings, our initiatives integrate physical activity and nutrition, that focuses on facilitating grassroots initiatives in driving forward attitudes to gender in communities, by sport empowerment, and fostering literacy outcomes for girls at risk, or affected by GBV, trauma, FGM, and child marriage. We work to empower girls in some of the world's hardest to reach settings. 

As we move through 2026, we are looking for a strategic leader to help us diversify our funding and scale our impact in Sierra Leone and wider communities where we replicate our model.

Our Mission:

We use the soft power of locally led sport programmes to promote sustainable development in advancing gender parity in communities facing poverty, conflict, and gender-related risks. Our Sponsor a Champion initiative uses sport and access to education to foster equal opportunities and support safeguarding awareness, literacy, and child protection.

Key Areas of Impact:

• Sport for Social Impact: Using sport to challenge attitudes to gender, and to empower young women to build self-reliance, resilience, and confidence to achieve the same aspirations as the boys. 
• Education & Literacy: Closing the gap in literacy between boys and girls through targeted school sponsorship interventions. 
• Social Welfare: Beneficiary and community sensitisation in safeguarding and protection, targeting the most at-risk beneficiaries, and signposting pathways to social welfare and trauma-support stakeholders in-Country.

3. Job Description: Fundraising Trustee

Role Purpose:

The Fundraising Trustee will advise the board and head of programmes in the provision of strategic oversight of our income generation, ensuring Girls in Sport has the resources needed to sustain its international programmes. You will oversee the development of a diverse funding mix, with a specific focus on high-value partnerships and institutional grants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Governance: Act as a member of the Board of Trustees, sharing legal and financial responsibility for the charity’s management.
• Fundraising Strategy: Provide advice and support on strategy, focusing on Trusts & Foundations, Major Donors, and Corporate Partnerships.
• Income Generation: Champion fundraising at Board level and encourage supporters to contribute to income-generation efforts.
• Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to fundraising regulations and best practices, including the Code of Fundraising Practice.
• Ambassadorship: Act as a spokesperson for the charity, promoting its work and helping to raise its profile within philanthropic networks.

4. Person Specification

Essential:

• Commitment to the charity’s mission and values regarding gender equality, sustainable development, and youth empowerment.
• Robust knowledge and experience of fundraising (e.g., trusts, corporates, or major donors).
• Strategic thinker, able to balance long-term planning with practical advice.
• Understanding of the legal duties and responsibilities of charity trusteeship.
• Experience of fundraising in an international development or small charity context.
• Existing networks that could support the charity’s fundraising efforts.

Desirable:

• Familiarity with Sierra Leone, West Africa or regional sub-Sahara socio-economic contexts and cross-border programming challenges in navigating funding and grant-making agencies

5. Commitment & Timeline

• Time Commitment: Approximately two hours per month.
• Meetings: We currently hold bi-annual Board meetings (online/in-person mix) plus occasional sub-group meetings.
• Term: two years, renewable three times.

About The Stray Cat Charity (TSCC)

The Stray Cat Charity is a newly established UK-registered CIO working to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome stray cats in Greece, starting in Patras. Our current priority campaign is to raise £35,000 to build a dedicated stray cat shelter in Patras, Greece, which will provide safe housing, veterinary care, and a pathway to adoption for vulnerable cats. As a growing new charity, we are building our fundraising and outreach network across the UK.

Role Purpose

We are looking for a motivated volunteer to support the growth of our charity by helping identify and connect with potential supporters in their local area. This includes community groups, schools, corporates, and potential major donors who may be interested in supporting or fundraising for stray cats in Greece. The aim of this role is to help generate awareness, build relationships, and support fundraising activity for our current and future campaigns.

Fundraising and Communications Internship  

We are seeking a Fundraising & Communications (F&C) Intern to support our peacebuilding mission through strategic communications, donor engagement, and fundraising activities with European supporters. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international development communications, while contributing to meaningful peacebuilding work in fragile and conflict-affected contexts.

Concordis Internships are designed as a two-way learning opportunity. We encourage interns to contribute the skills and experience they already have, while also exploring new areas of work and developing additional competencies. Interns are supported to take on responsibilities that align with their interests, learn new tools and approaches, and gain exposure to different aspects of fundraising, communications and peacebuilding.

As a F&C intern, you will work as an assistant to the F&C Manager and contribute to strengthening Concordis’ visibility, relationships, and impact. Position: Fundraising & Communications Intern

Location: Remote (working from home)

Reporting to: Fundraising and Communications Manager

Duration: 6 months; working three days (or 22 hours) per week (Flexible working hours; different time zones accommodated)

Role Description:  

As a F&C Intern, you will support Concordis’ external engagement and income-generation efforts. You will work closely with the UK-based team and relevant Programme Managers to achieve this.

Responsibilities may include:

• Gathering stories, photos and videos from programme staff. 

• Assisting with the creation of communications content (website, newsletters, social media, reports). 

• Helping design visual content and layouts for digital and print materials. 

• Supporting internal communications and programme communication needs.

• Monitoring engagement metrics and supporting reporting on outreach activities.

• Supporting fundraising campaigns, donor communications, and proposal development.

• Updating and managing the CRM system. 

Who should apply:  

For this position, we welcome applicants who have:

• A strong interest in peacebuilding, international development, or humanitarian work.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

• An eye for graphic design and some experience in using a design platform like Canva. 

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. 

• Confidence working independently and as part of a remote team. 

• An interest or experience in fundraising, donor engagement, or communications. 

• Skills or interest in one or more of the following: design, journalism, content writing, CRM systems, newsletters, social media, UX/UI, Squarespace (or comparable system).

Why we want you

As a community engagement volunteer you and your fellow branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community to ensure that that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

This role is diverse and allows for you to focus on the areas that you have skills or interests in. The role has flexibility and can work around your other commitments.

Below are some examples of possible activities you can take on or be a part of as a SSAFA Community Engagement Volunteer.

What you will be doing

• Activity Organisers - Love planning? Help coordinate amazing events like charity dinners, carol concerts, and local fairs.
• Event Champions - Be the friendly face of SSAFA! Help at events, chat with visitors, sell merchandise, and spread the word about our work.

• Promoting SSAFA Services - Help provide a warm, welcoming presence at Veterans Breakfast clubs, cafes or hubs - offering information about SSAFA services and signposting as appropriate.
• SSAFA Storytellers -Deliver engaging talks to organisations and groups, sharing SSAFA’s incredible history and mission.
• Community Connectors - Collaborating with the Community Engagement Manager to establish a local network, promote SSAFA's services, and respond to community opportunities such as gardening projects.
• Fundraising Heroes - Whether it’s rallying local businesses, organising events, or getting creative with unique fundraising ideas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping SSAFA’s support going strong.
• Administrators - Are you detail-oriented and love keeping things organised? Assist with branch and event administration, manage schedules and branch calendars, and ensure everything runs smoothly currently being undertaken.

The skills you need

• Be friendly and approachable.
• Confident to engage with the public, potential clients, volunteers and SSAFA colleagues face-to-face.
• Reliable attitude, staying connected with your Branch and/or Community Engagement Manager about your availability.
• Access to public transport or a car to get to events if necessary.
• Basic IT skills would be an advantage.

As a Grants and Funding Volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting our work. You will:

• Identify and apply for funding opportunities through compelling proposals
• Craft engaging campaigns to attract donors and increase awareness
• Develop clear and impactful communication strategies to share our mission and successes with stakeholders, partners, and the public

You'll collaborate closely with the admin team, a small group of volunteers who work behind the scenes to enable our success with our project goals. You'll also liaise with our Project Director to align your work with the trust's aims and objectives.

This role is adaptable to your skills and interests. Whether your expertise lies in campaign writing, digital communications, or event-based fundraising, we’ll work with you to tailor the responsibilities and focus areas to make the most of your time and talents.

To thrive in this volunteer role, we’re looking for someone who has a mix of the following skills, experiences, and qualities. While we don’t expect you to have all of these, the more you can bring, the bigger your impact will be:

Skills and Experience (any of these):

• Grant Writing: Proven ability to identify funding opportunities and write compelling grant applications that secure essential resources.
• Fundraising Expertise: Experience in planning, managing, or supporting successful fundraising campaigns. This could include individual giving, events, or digital campaigns.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to create impactful messaging across multiple platforms, such as social media, press releases, or donor communications.
• Digital Marketing and Social Media: Familiarity with digital marketing strategies, including using social media for engagement and online fundraising.
• Relationship Building: Experience in building and maintaining relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, or community groups.
• Project Management: The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results.

• Self-Motivated: Proactive and able to work independently while staying aligned with organisational goals.
• Creative Thinker: A flair for developing innovative ideas for campaigns, proposals, and storytelling.
