In this flexible role, you’ll help place new boxes and collect and bank donations from Sooty Boxes in local shops, cafés and other businesses in your area. Whether you volunteer on your own, with a friend or as part of a group, you’ll be making a real difference in your community.

As a Volunteer Donor Relationship Co-ordinator, you will play a crucial role in forming and maintaining relationships with our donors, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated, whilst forming & implementing a strategy to keep them donating. This role would suit someone who is confident, enthusiastic about building strong connections, and passionate about the welfare of refugees & asylum seekers.

Key responsibilities:

• Identify and approach local high net worth individuals/businesses to approach for a regular donation
• Develop a donor relationship strategy aimed at maximising engagement and satisfaction.
• Personally reach out to existing donors to thank them for their contributions (& send seasonal cards/other personalised messages to maintain positive relationships).
• Build relationships by engaging with donors via phone calls and emails to understand their motivations for donating and gather feedback used to improve our efforts.
• Encourage previous donors to continue their support.
• Keep detailed and accurate records of all our donor interactions to ensure we have up-to-date information on our supporters.
• Create and distribute surveys to gain insights into our donors’ needs and expectations.
• Further down the line, host webinars or live Q&A sessions to answer donor questions and provide updates on our work.

Requirements:

• Strong communication abilities

• A confident individual who is comfortable engaging with a diverse range of people

• Set overall policy, defining goals, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets;

A little bit about us:

Teach A Man To Fish is an international educational charity with one all-encompassing mission: to empower young people with the skills they need to succeed in school, work and life. We use our school-business model to guide young people and their teachers in the planning and setting up of student-led school businesses that are both educational and profitable. Since 2006, we have supported over 438,000 young people and trained 19,000 teachers through our programmes to set up school businesses which have generated more than $2,000,000 in income! In 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting schools worldwide, we launched a new programme: the Enterprise Adventure, a free mobile app for teenagers who want to learn about business and have a positive impact on their community.

The role:

We are looking for one or two volunteers to support the work of our International Programmes team. The ideal candidate will be available to volunteer for 15 hours per week for at least 3 months (ideally more). If you are based in London, you are welcome to volunteer from our office in Finsbury Park, otherwise you may volunteer from home if you prefer. 

You will have the opportunity to get involved with a wide variety of tasks depending on your skills, interests and the time of the year. These include but are not limited to:

• Helping to deliver our marketing strategy (e.g. social media content creation, website updates, carrying out research to increase our reach)

• Helping to deliver our communications and engagement strategy to programme participants (liaising with and engaging young people and teachers through newsletters, blog posts, social media, videos and WhatsApp)

• Supporting with designing educational materials and thinking of business quizzes (knowledge-based and trivia-based)

• Supporting with coordinating the review of School Enterprise Challenge, the Enterprise Adventure and the Trash To Cash Challenge submissions and sending feedback and certificates 

• Contributing to the Monitoring & Evaluation of the programmes through data analysis to inform donor reports and programme improvements

• Gathering and analysing feedback from programme participants (for example through surveys and ‘user testing’ sessions on Zoom) 

The successful candidate(s) will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a positive can-do attitude, with lots of initiative.

Essential:

• A passion for international development and education/entrepreneurship

Terms:

Location: Our office in London (Finsbury Park) or remote.

Hours: Ideally 15 hours per week. You can fit your volunteering around other commitments (e.g. holidays, studies or another job) and choose whether you would prefer to volunteer for 2 or more full days a week, or spread the hours over more weekdays. The time commitment is flexible, so please state your availability in your cover letter.

Length: Minimum 2 months with the possibility of extension. Starting at the end of August/early September. A commitment of 3 months is preferred.

Basis: Voluntary position. Travel allowance will be provided.

The Elizabeth Fry Charity provides support to women, mostly on licence from prison, who have a range of complex needs. Through our work, we help women to begin to address the issues they face, improve their lives and reduce the likelihood of further involvement in the criminal justice system.

To achieve our strategic plans, we require strong financial oversight to support sustainable growth, ensuring robust financial management and governance across all activities. We are therefore particularly interested in individuals who can bring:

• Professional experience in finance, accountancy, or audit (chartered or qualified desirable)
• Experience in financial governance, risk management, and internal controls
• Ability to interpret financial statements and support budget setting and monitoring
• Strategic insight into financial planning and sustainability within a charitable or regulated environment

Trustees, both individually and acting together as the Board, use their skills, knowledge, expertise, and contacts to govern the Charity, safeguard its assets and apply them as efficiently and effectively as possible to further its charitable objectives.

In this role, the Trustee with finance expertise will support the Board and Senior Management Team in maintaining strong financial oversight, contributing to strategic decision-making, and ensuring the Charity’s resources are used effectively to maximise impact.

Trustee of the Rose Road Association Charity – Voluntary Position

The Rose Road Association has been working with children, young people and their families from across Hampshire and the surrounding counties since 1952. The children who attend The Association have profound and multiple learning difficulties and physical disabilities. The charity currently employs around 200 staff and has a turnover of c£5m

The range of services provided includes activity schemes, residential short breaks, family information and advice services and community support to over 300 families in Hampshire and surrounding counties.

We are looking for people passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of young disabled people – could you become part of our dedicated Trustee Team?

Commitment

6 meetings annually in addition to occasional one-off events. All of our Trustees hold a lead role for a certain aspect of the organisation, this could include occasional additional meetings with Officers.
