Commitment and Focus
As Treasurer Trustee, you will support the Board’s oversight of FareShare Yorkshire’s financial governance. Working in close partnership with the Head of Finance & Business, you will help ensure the charity’s finances are well-managed, transparent, and aligned with its strategic objectives.
The Treasurer acts as a critical friend and source of support to the Head of Finance & Business, providing constructive challenge, guidance, and assurance to the Board. You will attend quarterly board meetings (held in Yorkshire) and chair the quarterly Finance Sub-Committee, helping to ensure effective financial governance and clear reporting to the full Board.
About FareShare Yorkshire
FareShare Yorkshire is a charity in its 27th year of operation and has experienced significant growth in recent years. Operating from three sites in Barnsley and Leeds, the organisation delivers surplus food provision services, employability programmes, and runs its own cookery school, The FullCrumb Kitchen. We redistribute enough food for over 100,000 meals every week by taking good surplus food from companies and getting it to where it is needed most.
Key Treasurer Responsibilities
Present clear, accurate, and timely financial reports to the Board in a format that supports understanding and effective decision-making, including:
Annual budgets
Internal management accounts
Annual statutory financial statements
Ensure the Board meets its duty to maintain proper accounting records and that financial resources are:
Properly controlled
Prudently invested
Economically and effectively spent in line with good governance, legal and regulatory
requirements, in liaison with the Head of Finance & Business.
Support the development, implementation, and regular review of:
Financial reserves policy
Cost management approaches
Investment policies
Advise and support the Board in carrying out its financial responsibilities, providing insight into financial risks, opportunities, and sustainability.
Chair the Finance Sub-Committee, setting agendas in partnership with the Head of Finance & Business and ensuring effective financial scrutiny.
Provide clear updates and recommendations to the full Board following each Finance Sub-Committee meeting.
Scrutinise financial information provided by the Head of Finance & Business and request additional information or clarification where necessary.
Support and challenge budget proposals and forecasts presented to the Board.
Monitor and advise on the financial viability of the charity, including cash flow, reserves, and long-term sustainability.
Ensure appropriate financial controls are implemented, adhered to, and regularly reviewed.
Advise the Board on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan and major decisions.
Support the Head of Finance and Business to:
Prepare information for the annual accounts
Manage the annual audit process, including liaison with auditors where appropriate.
The Trustee Role:
Ensure the charity fulfils its purposes for public benefit by:
Complying with its governing document.
Adhering to charity law and all other applicable legislation.
Acting always in the best interests of the charity.
Ensuring the responsible management of the charity’s resources.
Overseeing and ensuring compliance with statutory accounting and financial reporting requirements.
Declaring any conflicts of interest and exercising independent judgement in all decision- making.
Acting as an ambassador and advocate for the organisation and upholding its mission, values, and reputation.
Representing the Board and organisation at meetings and events, including acting as a spokesperson when required.
Safeguarding the wellbeing and interests of employees.
Contributing to the development of the organisation’s strategy by providing constructive challenge and insight.
Seeking appropriate professional advice where there is potential risk to the organisation or where trustee duties may be impacted.
Taking collective responsibility to ensure the legal and financial integrity of the organisation, including to safeguard its assets and long-term sustainability.
Ensuring appropriate procedures are in place for the appointment, support, and performance monitoring of the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Attending and actively contributing to Board meetings on a regular basis.
Skills and Experience
We are particularly seeking a Trustee with:
Senior-level experience in finance, accountancy, audit, or financial management.
Strong understanding of financial governance, risk management, and internal controls.
Experience of:
- Budgeting and financial forecasting
- Reviewing management accounts and statutory accounts
- Financial oversight within a charity, public sector, or commercial environment
(charity experience desirable but not essential)
Confidence in presenting financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data (advantageous).
The ability to provide supportive challenge and constructive scrutiny.
The credibility to lead financial discussions at board level while working collaboratively
with staff and fellow Trustees.
Ideal candidates will have:

This volunteer role involves being available for a mix of weekly drop-in IT sessions in which you will provide ‘floating support’ as well as pre-arranged one-to-one sessions in order to help clients complete more specific tasks relevant to them.
Digital Inclusion provides a crucial resource, helping people to take positive steps to improve their lives, by overcoming digital exclusion, accessing learning and securing work. In an average session, clients undertake independent learning and tasks, such as; completing searches on the internet, formatting documents and using email, paying bills, filling in forms etc
Increasingly, clients are asking for help with social media platforms, such as; logging into Facebook account, creating a LinkedIn profile or Instagram account to promote their business, or help with blogging.
How does this role make a difference?
All of life’s activities - including job seeking, accessing and managing benefits and housing - take place online. Clients without IT skills are hugely disadvantaged. This role provides clients with support, helping them to overcome initial fears or learning barriers. With increasing confidence, they will be able to access the internet independently.
Who will you be helping?
Users are adults from diverse backgrounds and can range from those who are complete computer beginners, learning the basics of IT, to those needing access to the resource for learning, job search or managing household finances. The service helps clients seeking to address digital skills gaps and improve their confidence in order to access the internet.
What will you be doing?
· Helping new clients to complete an IT Initial Basic Skills Assessment
What are we looking for?
· You have some experience assisting or coaching others.
· You are patient, a good listener and have the ability to motivate others.
· You are available for a period of at least six months to give you time to develop a rapport and fulfil learning objectives with the clients.
What is the time commitment?
We have open access and prebooked sessions for clients twice a week, on Mondays or Fridays, for a miniumn 3 hour slot per week.
We are asking for a 6 months commitment to enable you to build trusting relationships with clients and develop in your role. Volunteers find this goes very quickly!
How will you be supported?
· There is ongoing support by the Learning and Employment Manager.
· Free access to a range of e-learning modules on the Centre’s online e-learning platform
· You will be reimbursed for reasonable and agreed ‘out-of-pocket’ expenses such as travel, and also lunch if volunteering a full day.

The e-Assessment Association Ltd. (eAA) is seeking committed and experienced members to join its Board of Directors and help shape the future of e-assessment.
Following the Association’s incorporation as a company limited by guarantee in 2025, the Board plays a critical role in providing strategic leadership, governance and oversight, ensuring the eAA continues to deliver positive impact for members and the wider assessment community.
Three Director positions will become vacant in September 2026:
Two Ordinary Director roles, to be filled by Ordinary Members
One Organisational Director role, to be filled by an Organisational (Sponsor) Member.
Directors are appointed for a three-year term, as part of the eAA’s annual rotation system, which balances continuity with fresh perspectives.
The Role of a Director
Directors collectively support the delivery of the eAA’s objectives, including professional support for the sector, positive advocacy for technology in assessment, the development of good practice, and awareness-building across the global assessment community.

Our Shop Volunteers raise money for the people we support with a Learning Disability. Do you have a few hours a week to spare and share your time with us?
Our retail roles are varied and fun. You could be sorting donations from the public, dressing our window or serving customers on the till. There are many people from different walks of life and it's a great way to get practical experience and to meet new people.
This role will take place on a weekly basis for a few hours We will try our best to be flexible around the best time for you, but also need to consider the store opening times and volunteer rota. It could be a weekday or weekend, morning or afternoon, our stores are usually open 7 days a week. We’d appreciate any time that you can spare.
Whilst in the store, you will help with activities based on the needs of the Store Manager.
**Tasks you could get up to whilst volunteering could include:**
- Serving customers on the till
- Taking stock donations from the public
- Tagging and steaming stock for the shop floor
- Dressing the window displays
