The Organisation
Martin James Foundation (MJF) is a global network working towards one vision: a world where every child grows up in a safe and loving family. We support the transformation of child protection and alternative care systems, shifting away from institutional care and strengthening families and communities to keep children safe.
The unique composition of our Foundation brings together our Key Assets teams in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand and represents a network of over 1,000 foster care and child care practitioners. We combine this practical expertise with international advocacy and grant making through our MJF Global division to champion global care reform and support local organisations working to prevent family separation.
Structure
Our structure enables us to share and build on our collective experience, knowledge, practitioner skills, and proven best practice models as we continue to deliver innovative and quality services. Each organisation within the Martin James Foundation has its own strategy and mission of how it works towards our shared vision of a world in which children grow up and thrive in safe and loving families.
In addition, a set of shared strategic objectives enables us to achieve a greater combined impact. These objectives span a range of interventions that seek to support children, families and communities, as well as the structures and systems designed to protect them. Our work is informed and guided by the principles of the Guidelines of Alternative Care for Children, designed to enhance the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The Role of the Martin James Foundation Board
The Board of Trustees has strategic oversight of the charity, ensuring that ambitious strategic goals are set and worked towards effectively. The Board of Trustees works in collaboration with the Executive team to make decisions on key issues, offering support and challenge on a range of matters. The Board of Trustees acts as a point of escalation for internal and external stakeholders, for example any complaints or grievances, in line with agreed processes. The Board of Trustees also has legal oversight of the charity, including responsibility for ensuring that statutory and reporting requirements to the Charity Commission are met.
Board Statement of Values and Decision Making
Board Members embrace the entrepreneurial ethos of the Martin James Foundation. The Board is keen to take innovative approaches to delivering the Foundation’s work and commits to working collaboratively and effectively, as a collective decision-making body, to ensure the success of the charity. In doing so, board members commit to upholding the seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
The Role of the Martin James Foundation Trustee
All Martin James Foundation Trustees contribute to the effective governance of the Foundation, through supporting the Board to make objective, long-term decisions on key issues in order to advance the charity’s mission and goals. Typically, such key issues will include: strategy, goal-setting, programme or project design, relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. government), public relations, finance, safeguarding, or any other legal matters. The Chair will hold the Board of Trustees and Executive Team to account for the Charity’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. Each Trustee will support the Chair and Chief Executive and ensure that the Board functions as a unit and works closely with the entire Executive of the charity to achieve agreed objectives.

Howami Ltd
We help young menstruators improve mental health and menstrual literacy through embodied game-based app experiences.
We’re Howami, a bold, empathetic UK-based startup on a mission to transform how young people and their carers navigate menstrual and emotional health. We are soon to launch Million Moons, a global storytelling and fundraising initiative that will shift how the world talks about and understands menstrual health and youth emotional and mental wellbeing.
If you are someone who:
Believes young people deserve better?
Feels called to build something bold, compassionate, and culturally transformative?
Cares deeply about young people, emotions, cycles, and the hidden work of growing up?
Thrives at the intersection of creativity, activism, and social impact?
If yes, you might be the teammate we’re looking for!
The role
We are looking for an in-house data-driven yet deeply creative Digital Marketing Specialist to collaborate with our PR and Marketing Partners and drive our paid social strategy and content ecosystem. You will build the tracking that tells us what’s working, produce authentic user-generated content that earns attention honestly, and make sure every message, from a three-second hook to a landing-page headline, carries the Million Moons voice with care. You will be the bridge between the numbers and the narrative.
What you’ll do in collaboration with our PR and Marketing Partners:
Technical tracking & analytics
- Implement and configure the Meta Pixel and Conversions API via Google Tag Manager for clean, reliable tracking and attribution.
- Set up, test, and troubleshoot custom conversion events.
- Audit tracking health regularly, resolve data discrepancies, and sharpen ad targeting.
UGC content creation & creative direction
- Ideate, script, and produce compelling user-generated content (UGC) for Meta (Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok) campaigns and organic social.
- Manage the content process end to end: casting creators and storytellers, directing shoots, and editing final assets.
- Watch for creative fatigue and iterate on top-performing UGC formats (testimonials, behind-the-scenes, explainers) to grow reach and engagement, always keeping dignity and consent at the centre.
Key messaging & strategy
- Lead the development of localized, high-performing messaging frameworks for the European and, eventually, the Global market.
- Hold the line on brand voice and tone across every touchpoint, from ad copy to landing pages.
- Translate broad goals into clear, persuasive copy tailored to different audience personas — without ever losing the warmth that makes people stay.
What you’ll bring
This list describes the shape of the role, not a checklist you must tick perfectly. If you’re early in your career but learn fast and care deeply, we want to hear from you.
- Hands-on curiosity with the tools. Around 1–2 years of experience or equivalent practice through internships, freelance work, personal projects, or study with Google Tag Manager, Meta Ads Manager, and TikTok. If you’ve been teaching yourself, that counts.
- A creative eye. Some examples of UGC or content you’ve created or directed. A polished agency portfolio is welcome, but so is a TikTok you grew from scratch or a campaign you ran for a cause or side project. We care about the thinking behind it.
- A way with words. A feel for copywriting and an instinct for what an audience actually needs to hear. You need a good ear and the willingness to revise.
- An analytical mindset. Comfort with (or genuine eagerness to learn) Google Analytics, and a habit of letting data guide the next decision.
- Heart. A genuine connection to our mission. You don’t have to share every story, but you do have to care about the people telling them. This matters to us as much as any technical skill.
What we offer
This is 4-6 month volunteer position, beginning in June, with the chance to shape a marketing function from the ground up, working on a mission that matters. You’ll have real ownership while working with our professional PR and Marketing Partners and be part of a team that values both rigour and kindness.
