The Choir with No Name runs choirs and builds joyful singing communities with people impacted by homelessness and marginalisation across the UK. Our vision is simple but powerful: that everyone going through tough times can find a place to sing their hearts out, among friends. We are now looking for passionate and skilled people to join our board of trustees and help us deliver on that vision.

As a trustee, you will be joining a committed and experienced board at an exciting moment in our charity's development. We are currently developing a new three-year strategy with ambitions to grow our reach, open new choirs, and deepen our impact with the people we serve. Our board is supported by four sub-committees - Finance and Fundraising, Artistic Direction, Business Development, and People - and we are looking for trustees who can contribute meaningfully to one or more of these areas.

We would particularly welcome applications from people with experience in areas where we are looking to strengthen the board, including communications, PR, choral singing and music and health. We are also keen to build a board that reflects the communities we serve, and we actively encourage applications from people with lived experience of homelessness or marginalisation, and from those who are currently underrepresented in the charity sector.

Trusteeship with the Choir with No Name is a voluntary role, but it is far from a passive one. We are an organisation full of warmth, creativity and ambition, and we want trustees who will bring their skills and experience to bear while sharing our deep commitment to using the power of singing to change lives. Role description

The Open Spaces Society, Britain's oldest conservation body, needs additional trustees to broaden our reach.If you are keen to develop strategy and policy for creating, defending, and maintaining commons, greens, and paths, and to develop new approaches to make open spaces available to all, this role is for you. 

Trustees may be co-opted by the present board, but are expected to offer themselves for election by the membership at the first available opportunity.

Working collectively, trustees have three main responsibilities. These are to:

1 set a direction for the society,

2 ensure the society’s plans are carried out appropriately,

3 ensure the society meets its legal responsibilities.

The duties of a trustee are to:

4 ensure the society complies with its articles of association, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations,

5 ensure that the society pursues its objects as defined in its articles of association,

6 ensure that the society directs its resources exclusively towards its objects,

7 in association with the general secretary, ensure that the organisation is adequately staffed, and that the staff and volunteers have appropriate support and resources to pursue organisational goals,

8 contribute actively to the board’s role of developing strategy, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets,

9 safeguard the reputation and values of the society,

10 ensure effective and efficient administration and financial stability, 1

1 appoint the general secretary and monitor her performance,

12 act in the best interests of the society at all times.

The time you dedicate will help us to make the most of the incredible donations to our charity shops and raise more funds for our vital animal welfare work.

• Greeting customers and serving them in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner
• Answering questions from customers, donors and supporters
• Processing sales through the till and card machine
• Helping with administration and reception duties around the till area
• Promoting Gift Aid and instore sales campaigns

Relevant training and support will be provided.

• Friendly, helpful and confident when working with the public
• Good communication and numeracy skills
• Previous customer service or retail experience would be beneficial but not necessary as full training will be given

We connect women through safe, interest-based matching to build meaningful long-term friendships.

Social Media Marketer

We are looking for a Social Media Marketer to support Sisterly, a community platform addressing social isolation among women and young girls.

Sisterly is a community-based mobile app designed for women. Through communities, events, and one-to-one friend matching, it helps turn online connections into offline interactions, fostering real “sisterhood” and supportive social bonds.

Responsibilities:

• Create and schedule social media posts
• Create, film, and edit engaging video content for social media platforms ( we really would love to see your video contents, you can talk about friendship for women )
• Use Canva templates to design visuals
• Support content strategy and brand voice
• Grow awareness and expand our online community
• Engage with followers and maintain a safe, supportive environment
• Contribute ideas for impactful storytelling campaigns

We are especially looking for someone who understands the social isolation experienced by women and can reflect this insight into meaningful, empathetic content.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about social impact, community building, storytelling, and video content creation.

Minimum Hours per Week:

VOLUNTEER BRANCH CHAIR/COORDINATOR

Across the UK, our 60+ local branches help disabled people live the lives they choose. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.

As your local Chair or Coordinator, you’ll take the lead in making sure your local branch works as effectively as possible. You’ll recruit, induct, and support other branch volunteers to make sure your branch’s activities meet the needs of your local disabled community.

You’ll bring your leadership, communication, organisation, and motivational skills to this role.

What the role involves

This is a varied role where local need shapes what you’ll be working on, but it often includes:

•  Coordinating the activities of our local branch to undertake and meet the needs of  referrals in your area

• Coordinating and chairing the branch meetings

• Leading the branch’s shared responsibility for planning and completing referrals

• Coordinating the recruitment, induction, and ongoing support of new local branch volunteers

• Working with your Treasurer or Finance Officer to approve branch accounts

• Ensuring the branch’s activities comply with policies to keep people safe

• Regularly communicate and act as a key contact between staff and volunteers

What you’ll need for this role

Essential

• Confident in leading and chairing a meeting

• Confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email

• Willingness to attend local events to promote the charity’s work

The Role – Content Creator
We are seeking a creative Content Creator to produce engaging content that tells our story, builds awareness, and connects with our community across digital platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Create written, visual, and multimedia content for campaigns and initiatives.

• Collaborate with the social media team to deliver content for various platforms.

Martlets, Chestnut Tree House and St Barnabas House have collection tins hosted by a wide variety of businesses across Worthing, Sussex, Brighton and Hove and surrounding areas. Our tins continue to play an important role in raising money and awareness for the hospices so that we can continue to provide specialist care.

These tins need to be collected, replaced, and returned to our fundraising offices or shops on a regular basis. With collections expected to be completed on a 6-8 week cycle.

We are looking for friendly, reliable people to help us with this important fundraising and community liaison role.

You will be the face of the Fundraising team in your locality, representing the hospices when collecting. This is a chance to involve yourself with the community by building a relationship with our collection tin hosts and keeping them up to date with any news from us.

Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

ORCD UK is the British entity of Afghanistan's most established local humanitarian organisation ORCD Global with $100M+ delivered, UN ECOSOC status (first Afghan NGO), and partnerships with UNICEF, WFP, WHO, and four other UN agencies.
