- Organise an activity independently 
- Fundraise with friends, family or colleagues

- Support an existing Make-A-Wish fundraising campaign or event 
- Whether it's a bake sale, quiz night, sponsored challenge, workplace fundraiser, school activity or local business partnership, you'll be helping raise the funds needed to grant more wishes

We'll provide resources, guidance and support to help you succeed.

We’re Mind, the leading mental health charity. We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. We provide advice and support to empower anybody experiencing a mental health problem and we campaign to improve services, raise awareness, and promote understanding.

Our volunteers are a fundamental part of our shops. Any time which they volunteer at our shops, help us be there for more people who are experiencing a mental health problem. 

About the volunteer role

To provide our volunteers with opportunities to gain a variety of skills and experience, we offer them a range of volunteer roles to choose from, which include:

• Stock preparation volunteer
• Volunteer shop sales assistant
• Volunteer stock generation assistant
• Volunteer window dresser/Merchandiser
• Specialist knowledge volunteer (antiques and collectables)
• Specialist knowledge volunteer (books and entertainment)
• Housekeeping volunteer

Key tasks

There is a variety of tasks within the above mentioned roles that our volunteers get involved with, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers with their purchases, providing them with great customer service and a delightful shopping experience
• Receiving donated items from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated items for sale
• Creating visually appealing window and in-store displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, clean and coordinated
• Processing sales and serving at the till
• Signing up gift aid donors
• Stock rotation
• Identifying special or valuable items within donated stock

About the role

Location: Bristol

Hours: 2 hours per week

As a Volunteer Group Facilitator, you will play an important role in supporting group sessions and workshops. You will help create a welcoming, inclusive, and comfortable environment where everyone feels valued and able to participate.

Your responsibilities may include engaging with group members through conversation, welcoming participants as they arrive, and supporting the smooth running of sessions by helping with set-up and clear-up tasks. You may also assist with taking attendance at the start of each session.

Full training and regular supervision will be provided, so you’ll feel confident and supported in your role.

This role requires a Basic DBS check, which will be arranged and paid for by Rethink Mental Illness.

As a Volunteer Group Facilitator you will

• Welcome participants and help create a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment
• Support the development of a safe space where individuals feel comfortable sharing as much or as little as they wish
• Assist with setting up before sessions (e.g. arranging chairs, preparing materials, and taking attendance)
• Help tidy and reset the space after sessions
• Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to support the smooth delivery of group activities

About the service

The Bristol Community Support Services team is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support. The service focuses on helping individuals achieve their goals, improve their wellbeing, and maintain independence while living with mental illness.

The team includes a Service Manager, Recovery Coaches, a Digital Officer, a Group Development Coordinator, and a Peer and Volunteer Coordinator, all working together to provide a supportive and effective service.

What will make you a great fit for this role?

• Having an interest in mental health and supporting people living with mental illness
• Able to demonstrate strong active listening skills and the ability to build rapport
• Able to relate to people from diverse backgrounds and remains non-judgemental
• Understand the importance of confidentiality
• Reliable and punctual

A bit about this role

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!
 

You can expect us to

• make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours
• support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection
• cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy

What we need from you

• help set up and/or man stalls at events
• help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

• promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!
 

You can expect us to

• make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours

• cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
• provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

• help set up and/or man stalls at events
• help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections
• help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances
• promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

The Rio Cinema is looking to appoint up to four trustees, including a Treasurer, to complement its existing board.

The Rio Cinema is one of London’s most iconic independent cultural landmarks and the UK’s oldest cinema, operating continuously on the same site since 1909. As we mark our 50th anniversary of being named the Rio and operating as an independent charity (charity no. 277415) run by and for the community, we are looking to appoint up to four new trustees, including a Treasurer, to our board to help steward our legacy and ensure the future sustainability of the Rio for the next 50 years. 
We are looking to strengthen our board with individuals who can bring their professional skills, strategic mindset, creative problem-solving and diverse networks to help us thrive in an ever-changing cultural and economic landscape.
 

We are particularly interested in recruiting trustees with the following backgrounds:

• Finance & Accounting: We are specifically seeking a Treasurer who is a finance professional (ideally a qualified accountant or CFO) to provide high-level oversight of our financial health, statutory reporting, and long-term resilience (see here for a more detailed role description).
  
   
• Property & Capital Projects: We’re looking to undertake a number of capital projects on our Grade II-listed building over the next several years and we are seeking a trustee with experience in property development or managing large-scale renovation/restoration projects. Experience with heritage/listed buildings is a plus, but not a requirement.
  
   
• Fundraising: We are seeking a trustee with a proven track record in securing philanthropic income, corporate partnerships, and public grants within the cultural sector. Experience navigating major funding bodies (such as the BFI, Arts Council England or the National Lottery Heritage Fund), cultivating individual donors, trusts and foundations, or leading capital campaign strategies is very desirable.
  
   
• Legal: We are looking for a trustee with a legal background to act as a sounding board for the board and management. You do not need to be a practising expert in charity law, but your general legal knowledge and analytical mindset will help us evaluate risk, sense-check decisions, and ensure good corporate governance across our operations and upcoming projects (see here for a more detailed role description). 

• Term: 3 years (renewable once)

  We want our board to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. Change Agents UK is an established sustainability education and future skills charity. We use education and recruitment to empower people and organisations with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to create a better, more sustainable future for everyone. Helping people from all walks of life to become “change agents”.

We are seeking new trustees and directors of our charity and non-profit trading subsidiary boards. Trustees and directors play vital roles in making sure that Change Agents UK is well-governed and achieves sustained growth of impact and progress towards our goals. This is a fantastic opportunity to put your professional skills to use supporting a dynamic and ambitious charity.

• Charity trustees must be at least 18 years of age and must not be disqualified from serving as a trustee

We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who have experience in the following: working with or in schools, colleges or multi-academy trusts or in training/skills provision; fundraising, bid-writing or corporate partnerships or recruitment and general HR.

Duties of trustees & directors

• Support and direct Change Agents UK’s vision, goals, strategy and activities.
• Actively promote and champion the work of the Change Agents UK, amplifying messages, campaigns and supporting our growth
• Approve (as part of the Board and with input from the Executive Team) financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
• Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
• Review and approve Change Agents UK’s financial statements (with the advice of an Independent Examiner/Auditor).
• Provide support and challenge to the CEO/Executive Team
• Keep abreast of changes in Change Agents UK’s operating environment and charity regulation
• Contribute to regular reviews of Change Agents UK’s own governance and policies.
• Attend Board meetings adequately prepared to contribute to discussions and participate in decision-making.
• Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect Change Agents UK’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third-party interests.
• Contribute to the broader success of Change Agents UK’s objects, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts. There will be times when the Trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. This may involve reading and commenting on board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, presenting externally, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.
