What is the purpose of this role?

The Sybil Levin Day Service is a specialist SPECAL-Led day service supporting people with dementia and their carers using the SPECAL method.

What activities might you be involved in?

• Assisting centre attendees to engage in activities.
• Serving meals and drinks.
• Helping to set up and clear away activities.
• Engaging in conversation with centre attendees.
• Volunteering in line with the Charity’s policies and procedures and adhering to the Volunteer Code of Conduct

What are we looking for?

• People with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of people with dementia.
• A friendly, sensitive and kind approach.
• Being comfortable in small groups or on a one to one basis.
• People with a commitment to using the SPECAL method at all times whilst at the centre.

When would you be needed to volunteer?

The centre is open from Monday to Friday and would like volunteers to commit to a morning or afternoon at least once a week as a minimum.

What training will you be given?

You will be given all the training you need to enable you to carry out your role.  This will include a thorough Charity induction and a departmental induction to provide further information about the role.  You will also be given access to our online training library to complete the training modules that are mandatory for your role.

You will receive SPECAL training prior to commencing your role.

Do you have experence of fundraising reserach and/or writing grants applications? Want to put those skills to use and make  a difference for those whose lives are affected by cancer?

This role would suit those with experience or interest in research, bid writing, charity fundraising, marketing, creative writing, commissioning, public sector tenders or grant assessment who is looking for a meaningful, regular volunteering commitment. Anyone with expertise or transferable skills in the area of research and/or writing compelling proposals/marketing who is interested in volunteering is encouraged to have a chat with us as we can be flexible.

The Mulberry Centre is looking for opportunities to identify and apply for relevant grants, trust and foundations funding in a competitive market. Grant requests will be on average £500-£10,000 for specific services as well as core Centre costs. This Fundraising Volunteer (the role can be undertaken by one volunteer or split into two parts and shared) will work closely with the Fundraising and Engagement Team to help streamline the research and application process. The first part of the role is to research and check grants and trust funding lists and databases for current opportunities and deadlines for applications to determine which are relevant, where we meet the necessary criteria, and how quickly we need to apply. The second part of the role is to draft and adapt application information to inspire and appeal positively to specific funders.

We are aiming to have six members of the Grants Committee with at least one being a non-trustee member, who will participate alongside our Trustees.

The role of a Non-Trustee Grants Committee Member

This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Richmond Foundation team to participate in important decisions around awarding funding and to influence policy and strategic direction.

Terms of appointment

Appointments will be for a two-year term, with the possibility of renewing for an additional two-year term.

You will need to:

• Uphold Richmond Foundation’s vision, mission, objectives, and values
• Attend at least four Grants Committee meetings per year at our central Richmond location (1.5 hours from 5:00pm to 6:30pm)
• Prepare for meetings by reading all relevant documentation and reviewing minutes
• Attend relevant training and at least one event/visit hosted by a grant-funded organisation each year
• Attend our annual AGM meeting in November

Responsibilities include:

• Provide strategic direction and expert guidance on our developing grants portfolio
• Maintain oversight of grant giving activities to ensure: it is in line with our strategic objectives and within agreed budget; grant giving practices are in line with agreed policy, legislation and good practice
• Receive and feedback on impact and other reporting
• Provide support and challenge to the Grants Director and team
• Occasionally attending internal briefings and training and other relevant external events on behalf of Richmond Foundation
• Contribute relevant specialist experience

General experience:

• Contribute to the discussions and decision-making that take place during meetings from a general point of view, as someone who has knowledge and experience relevant to the work of the committee
• A keen interest and understanding of the charitable sector
• An understanding of, and commitment to, safeguarding and diversity, equity and inclusion in the charitable sector and how this relates to grant-making
• Ability to take an independent view which varies from that of other committee members
• Relevant knowledge, perspective, insight, and understanding gathered through lived experience

To support you, we will:

• Provide background information to be discussed in an introductory session and supported by the Trustee and Committee Member Handbook
• Give initial training about Richmond Foundation and our grantmaking, with further training and support to enable you to fully take part in committee meetings
• Ongoing annual training and access to document library
• Link you with a Richmond Foundation Trustee who will act as a buddy. Before each committee meeting, they will offer support with preparing for the meeting and discuss any key issues with you
• Cover reasonable childcare, carer and travel costs if these are required to enable you to attend committee meetings

• Attend relevant training and at least one event hosted by a grant-funded organisation annually.
• Serve a four-year term, with the possibility of renewal for an additional two-year term.
• Champion high standards of conduct, including respect, inclusivity, accountability, honesty, and confidentiality.
• Declare and manage any conflicts of interest.
• Act in accordance with our Trustee Code of Conduct
• Support safeguarding and ensure the charity is accountable and compliant with its governing documents.

To be eligible, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Not be disqualified under the Charities Act (including being disqualified as a company director, having unspent convictions for offences involving dishonesty or deception, being an undischarged bankrupt, having been removed as a trustee by the Charity Commission or a court, or being on the sex offenders’ register).
• Be willing to sign a declaration of eligibility upon appointment and annually thereafter.

Castel Froma Neuro Care is seeking dedicated and skilled individuals to join our Board of Trustees. This is a rewarding opportunity to support a well-respected charity that delivers specialist care and rehabilitation for adults living with complex neurological conditions.

Who We Are
Castel Froma Neuro Care is an award-winning registered charity and company providing person-centred nursing care, rehabilitation, respite and long-term care for adults with brain injuries and neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and Motor Neurone Disease across our two specialist centres in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

The Role – Trustee

Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Castel Froma Neuro Care is well-governed, financially sustainable and focused on its charitable purpose.

Working collectively as part of the Board, Trustees are responsible for:

· Setting and overseeing the charity’s strategic direction, mission and values

· Ensuring high standards of governance, accountability and ethical leadership

· Safeguarding the charity’s reputation, assets and long-term sustainability

· Ensuring the charity continues to deliver high-quality services that meet the needs of residents and families

· Ensure the charity complies with charity law requirements and other laws that apply to your charity

Trustees are not involved in day-to-day operations, but provide strategic oversight, scrutiny and guidance, acting at all times in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries.

Please note that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required for this role.

Our Associate Trustee Induction Model

We recognise that becoming a trustee is a significant responsibility and are committed to supporting new Trustees to succeed.

All new Trustees therefore begin in an Associate Trustee role as part of a structured and supportive induction process. This allows individuals to gain insight and confidence before taking on full legal responsibilities.

As an Associate Trustee, you will:

· Attend Board and Committee meetings in a non-voting capacity

· Receive a structured induction covering governance, legal duties, strategy, finance and our services

· Be paired with an experienced Trustee buddy for mentoring and support

· Have time to understand the charity, its culture and expectations of the role

Following this induction period, Associate Trustees will be invited to take up full trustee responsibilities, subject to mutual agreement.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals with:

✔ A strategic mindset and good independent judgement
✔ Experience in one or more of the following areas: finance/business development, information technology, clinical/health/social care, organisational governance, business development, commissioning, or lived experience of neurological conditions (including as a carer)
✔ Creativity, critical thinking and willingness to contribute to board decisions

Time Commitment

· Four Board meetings per year (flexible meeting times depending on boards members)
