At Turn2us, we believe poverty is not inevitable. Every year, we support millions of people to improve their financial security through practical help, direct support and long-term systems change. Working alongside people with lived experience, we combine immediate action with ambitious efforts to address the root causes of financial insecurity.

We are now seeking a Trustee to join our Board and serve as Chair of our Finance, Investment and Audit Committee and Honorary Treasurer.

This is a significant governance leadership role at an important point in Turn2us’s journey. As we look towards our next strategic chapter, the Board will play a vital role in balancing long-term ambition with strong financial stewardship and governance. Turn2us is well positioned, with a diversified asset base including property and investments, alongside Elizabeth Finn Homes, our care home business, which contributes around one-third of the charity’s income.

We are looking for a qualified accountant with substantial experience of financial leadership, governance and risk oversight. Experience within the charity sector would be valuable, as would familiarity with areas such as investment management, property, social housing or care services.

Alongside technical expertise, we are seeking someone who brings sound judgement, curiosity, humility and a collaborative approach. You will provide constructive challenge and strategic insight, helping the Board and executive team navigate an increasingly complex financial environment while ensuring the organisation remains focused on delivering impact for people facing financial insecurity.

Our Trustees come from a broad range of professional and personal backgrounds. We are committed to building a Board that reflects the communities we serve and particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of financial insecurity and those from communities currently underrepresented at Board level.

This is an opportunity to contribute to an ambitious organisation tackling one of society’s most pressing challenges, working alongside an engaged Board and executive team to help ensure everyone has enough to live on.

Time commitment

The Chair of the Finance, Investment & Audit Committee is expected to commit ten days per year on average, including preparation for and attendance at quarterly in-person board meetings (held in our London office), subcommittees and occasional strategy sessions.

The Faith Hope & Enterprise Company Ltd (FHE) is an innovative registered charity operating across Derby City, Amber Valley, and the Derbyshire Dales. Our mission is to provide high-quality supported housing and bespoke mentorship to individuals facing severe social exclusion. We walk alongside those recovering from addiction, navigating mental health challenges, adjusting to life after offending, or rebuilding after general homelessness.

Operating from our base in Mackworth, Derby, we run a network of shared houses and self-contained flats which we either own or lease from private landlords. We deliver highly tailored Personal Development Plans to give our residents the practical life skills, confidence, and community networks they need to transition successfully into fully independent living.

The Role

 FHE is entering an exciting period of strategic development. We are looking to appoint new Trustees to join our friendly, dedicated Board.

As a Trustee, you will ensure that the charity remains financially resilient, legally compliant, and true to its core values of trust, respect, and kindness. Working closely with our Chief Executive and the executive team, you will help shape our future housing strategy, strengthen our local partnerships, and maximize the social impact of our enterprise model.

Who We Are Looking For

 We welcome applications from individuals who share our passion for tackling social exclusion and homelessness. To complement the existing skills on our Board, we are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a background or professional qualification in any of the following fields:

• Social Housing & Property Management: Experience in residential lettings, property maintenance, or estate management to advise on our housing stock.
• Finance & Accounting: Fully or part-qualified accountants who can provide oversight of budgets, cash flow, and financial forecasting.
• Legal, Risk & Compliance: Expertise in charity law, employment law, health & safety, or housing regulations.
• Health & Social Care/Addiction Recovery: Insights from the statutory or voluntary sectors to help guide our holistic support frameworks.

Prior experience as a trustee is not essential. We are fully committed to diversifying our board and warmly welcome applications from individuals with lived experience of the challenges our residents face. Comprehensive induction and peer mentoring will be provided.

Time Commitment

 Meetings: 4 to 6 formal evening Board meetings per year, held in Derby.

• Work: One annual strategy full-day review, plus occasional involvement based on your professional background.
• Ad-hoc Support: Occasional advisory support to the executive team via email or phone.

About Us

Cities for Children believes that all children deserve the “Right to Childhood” – the right to learn and play in safety. Guided by our mantra that “happy memories build resilience,” we weave together three core strands of work—the Right to Read, the Right to Play, and the Right to Feel Safe—to reinforce learning and wellbeing for vulnerable children. Role Overview

Cities for Children is looking for compassionate and enthusiastic volunteers to support our work bringing playful learning to refugee children in transitional housing in West London. These sessions are designed to help children build confidence, resilience, and English language skills, while fostering a sense of belonging and joy in their new environment. 

This is your opportunity to step into a role where your kindness creates real change. You will be a crucial part of a child’s journey towards settling in the UK, gaining valuable, hands-on experience with an international NGO dedicated to child wellbeing and humanitarian response. 

Commitment

• Day/Time: 2 days a week

• Dates: 13 July - 1 September

• Location: West London (Exact locations shared upon successful application)

Key Responsibilities

• Support lead facilitator in delivering playful, interactive learning activities (such as arts, storytelling, and games) and help with setup and pack-up.

• Build rapport with the children to encourage active participation and maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive environment.

• Support data collection, documentation and evaluation activities. 

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who: 

• Has an academic background in social sciences or education (preferred). 

• Is able to engage children, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds. Experience with refugee or asylum-seeking children is a bonus but not required. 

• Is patient, empathetic, and culturally sensitive, with an understanding of the challenges refugee children face as they adapt to a new country. 

• Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with the main facilitator and other team members. 

• Is enthusiastic and reliable, committed to attending sessions every Thursday. 

• Has an enhanced DBS check.

Support Provided

• A structured session plan will be created by the main facilitator for you to follow. 

• Guidance and training on working with vulnerable children will be provided. 

• Reasonable travel expenses covered.

Behçet’s Disease is an auto-immune disorder which is incurable but can be managed by specialist consultants. It is very rare and can affect any part of the body. It often takes years to diagnose and can be debilitating to the patient. 

Behçet’s Patients Centres (BPC), a charitable company, was formed in 2011 to provide the specialist, multi disciplinary care for patients.

We are seeking to recruit a Finance Director to our Board in order to both increase our experience and skills base and to facilitate effective succession management. This is a volunteer role that offers rewarding experience and the chance to make a difference in the lives of those who are affected by this rare condition.

This is a highly autonomous role that will make a big difference to the Board of Directors and their purpose to provide a service to one of the rarest patient groups in England. We’re looking for someone who can come in and help us build on our achievements and do things even better. You will be responsible for the financial management of the charitable company to ensure we successfully deliver our contractual commitments and thus influence the future of our funding, (we have a contract which runs until March 2028). You will play an important role as a member of the Board of Directors, ensuring they are guided by your financial expertise. This will involve preparing budgets; paying salaries and finances owing to HMRC and invoicing the NHS. We also work collaboratively with Behçet’s UK, the registered charity for patients with Behçet’s Disease and you’ll be building relationships with that charity. 

The time commitment for this role is around 2 to 3 days per month on average, with extra time needed around budgeting and year end accounts. 

Experience Required:

• Proven management and leadership skills
• Proven financial skills in budget preparation and management

• Awareness of both Charity and Data Protection Law
• Computer literate in use of Microsoft products
• Experience of contract performance management
• Flexibility of working hours to attend quarterly Director meetings and the Behçet’s UK Annual Conference

• Educated to degree level or equivalent financial experience. 
• Preferably a qualification with CIMA, ACA or ACCA (or working towards) 
• A UK driving licence and the ability to travel

About the ELP team

Our team at Sense College Rothwell consists of 9 Support Workers and 3 Activity Coordinators who support our individuals on our Everyday Living Program to experience a whole range of activities both in the college and out in the community. Our activities in the centre include cookery, art and craft sessions, sound baths, sensory stories, music sessions, gardening and all sorts of different activities that we tailor to match the sensory abilities of our individuals.

Key duties

· Supporting staff and individuals during activities – although you will not be working in personal care, assisting individuals with eating and drinking, and you won’t be doing any manual handling.

· Helping to keep the working environment clean and tidy.

· To help set up and clean up after activities when required.

Our Shop Volunteers raise money for the people we support with a Learning Disability. Do you have a few hours a week to spare and share your time with us?

Our retail roles are varied and fun. You could be sorting donations from the public, dressing our window or serving customers on the till. There are many people from different walks of life and it's a great way to get practical experience and to meet new people.

This role will take place on a weekly basis for a few hours We will try our best to be flexible around the best time for you, but also need to consider the store opening times and volunteer rota. It could be a weekday or weekend, morning or afternoon, our stores are usually open 7 days a week. We’d appreciate any time that you can spare.

Whilst in the store, you will help with activities based on the needs of the Store Manager. 

Tasks you could get up to whilst volunteering could include:

• Serving customers on the till
• Taking stock donations from the public
• Tagging and steaming stock for the shop floor
• Dressing the window displays
• Asking people to join us as a volunteer

OOEF runs free music sessions for children aged 7–11 at two primary schools in Twerton and Whiteway. The sessions are so valued by the schools that children are released from maths lessons to attend. We need volunteers to sit alongside children as they practise — listening, encouraging, celebrating their progress. No musical experience needed. If you love music and care about young people, we would love to hear from you.

About the role

Orchestra of Everything Foundation (OOEF) delivers free, immersive music education to around 250 children aged 7–11 at St Michael's Junior School in Twerton and Roundhill Primary in Whiteway — two schools in nationally ranked deprived communities. Our impact is off the scale: school leaders tell us that 86% of children show improved attitudes to learning across all subjects, and we have been instrumental in a 39% reduction in pupil suspensions. Our work has caught the attention of the Department for Education, and Bath Spa University now incorporates our model into teacher training.

As a Practice Buddy you sit alongside small groups of children as they work through their instruments — listening, encouraging and celebrating their progress. You will work in a team of 5–10 at all times; no one ever works alone with children. Training and mentoring are built in from day one.

Time commitment

Most volunteers come in weekly or fortnightly during term time — a typical session is around 1.5–2 hours on a Wednesday afternoon (more days planned). Some come via company or organisation rotas (like Camella estate agents and Bathavon Rotary Club), others as University of Bath students fitting volunteering around their studies. One-off or ad hoc sessions are also very welcome. We will work around whatever suits you.
