Join FARA, a charity with over 30 years of experience and 39 charity shops across London. Our FARA East Sheen shop is looking for a dedicated Antiques and Jewellery Volunteer to support our team in researching, valuing, and preparing donated items for sale.

By volunteering with us, you’ll play an important role in uncovering hidden gems, enhancing the customer experience, and supporting our commitment to reuse and a sustainable circular economy.

The Role:

As a volunteer, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Researching and valuing donated antiques, jewellery, and collectables
• Identifying rare, collectable, or high-value items
• Pricing and organising items appropriately for sale
• Ensuring items are clearly presented with accurate information
• Creating attractive and engaging displays
• Greeting and assisting customers
• Assisting with till operations when required

The Volunteer:

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has a genuine passion for jewellery, antiques, or decorative objects
• Has a good eye for detail
• Is friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic
• Is reliable and able to work as part of a team
• Knowledge of brands, materials, or collectable items is a plus, but not essential

Your Time:

Our shop operates from 09:30 to 17:30, and we’re looking for someone who can volunteer for a minimum of 4 hours either in the morning or afternoon, whenever you are available in arrangement with the shop manager.

The purpose of this role is to support the organisation with communications and administration at a local level. You’ll play an active part in the branch committee and support the branch with record keeping and planning, thus enabling more cats to be helped.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Disseminating relevant organisation-wide information and updates to the branch volunteers
• Supporting engagement and communication between the branch and wider organisation
• Drafting committee meeting agendas and taking and sharing meeting minutes
• Supporting the efficient running of the branch by ensuring administration processes are carried out effectively
• Supporting the administration and update of the branch annual plan 
• Sign-posting queries from members of the public
• Keeping branch records and information up to date and secure, using Cats Protection systems – training will be provided

Time expectation

Our support volunteers usually spend 2-5 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

Volunteer Retail Assistants will be located primarily on the shop floor, dealing with queries, pricing items, using the till, and ensuring our shops are the best on the high street. Without you, we couldn't provide needed support to the York Animal Home, so we want to ensure you feel welcomed and supported. You will receive full training in all retail areas, with continued development available in your volunteer journey. If you’re looking to gain confidence to get back into work, or simply want to find somewhere to make connections, we have a role for you.

Every single penny raised in our charity shop goes directly to the York Animal Home and gives vital funds to ensure they can continue helping animals in need. Without your help our shops could not run; volunteers are what make us special and we would love to have you join our team.

Your duties:

• Giving a warm and friendly welcome as people enter our shop
• Helping with queries about items
• Putting cash and card sales through our till
• Engaging visitors about our charity and promoting the York Animal Home and our links to it
• Processing Gift Aid donations

SeeAbility Volunteer Drivers play an important role in the lives of those in need of a friendly driver. Many of the people we support have their own vehicles, so you will need to be happy to drive these. You will make a difference by being a reliable driver to take them to appointments and activities.

Skills required

•  To be a confident driver with a full clean driver’s licence

• To be able to assist when necessary with sighted guidance/orientation

  To be kind and friendly, empathetic and patient

• To be reliable and punctual.

The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.

We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.

We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a period of observations and shadowing, as well as attend a 3 day training course. A minimum commitment of one day (9:00am - 5:00pm) per fortnight is asked for. Training and mentoring is provided and travel expenses to the court are reimbursed.

New volunteers should possess good communication and listening skills and the ability to empathise with people they support.

An international child protection NGO headquartered in Cambodia is seeking a volunteer accountant to review and strengthen accounting systems, software and financial management processes.

The organisation works across Southeast Asia, supporting vulnerable children, young people and communities through programmes focused on child protection, education, livelihoods and social inclusion.

The volunteer will work alongside the finance team to assess current systems and support practical improvements across financial management and reporting.
