Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

It's a great opportunity to get out and about, be part of a supportive team, and make a real difference to the success of our charity shops.

When:

Wednesday: Full-day availability required, as vans will be visiting our shops further afield

Friday: Morning shifts available

Monday-Friday: Morning shifts available to help load and unload vans

Please note: Collection and delivery schedules can vary, and vans may not always return at the expected time. We therefore ask volunteers to be flexible, particularly at the end of their shift.

· providing the treasurer with information on funds raised from fundraising events

· encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 

· following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

Time expectation

Our fundraising events organisers usually spend two to three hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer.

Make a Difference with Essex Respite & Care Association (ERCA)

Are you experienced in finance or accounting and looking for a rewarding way to give back to your local community?

At Essex Respite & Care Association (ERCA), we are seeking a Volunteer  to join our charity and help support the important work we do for adults living with dementia, mental health conditions, and other long-term health needs across Essex.

This voluntary role requires approximately 2–3 hours per week and offers the opportunity to use your financial skills to make a real difference.

The Role

• Maintain oversight of the charity's financial records.

• Help keep our accounts up to date and well organised.

• Prepare and review profit and loss reports and other financial information.

• Work alongside the Charity Manager and Board of Trustees to support good financial governance.

• Provide financial guidance where appropriate.

About You

• Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a similar financial role.

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Confident working with financial information.

• A commitment to supporting a local charity and its values.

A full handover will be provided by our outgoing Treasurer, ensuring you have the support needed to settle into the role.

Cards for Bravery is a charity dedicated to improving the emotional wellbeing of hospitalised, seriously ill and chronically ill children and young people across the UK. We provide a range of services including the distribution of items such as handmade cards, activity packs, care packages and other initiatives designed to bring comfort, connection and support during difficult times.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Community Outreach Volunteer to help build meaningful relationships and partnerships with businesses, schools, community groups and other organisations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people and building relationships. Working closely with the Founder and the wider team, you'll help raise awareness of Cards for Bravery, develop new and existing partnerships and inspire communities across the UK to support our mission.

A DBS Check will be required for this role, completed by the charity.

Candidates must hold a relevant laptop/tablet or other IT device to complete this role.

Any relevant expenses will be reimbursed.

Being a trustee at IVAR is about more than governance oversight. We want a board of different voices and perspectives that will challenge our thinking and push us to be bolder

With the support of the staff team and professional associates, trustees at IVAR are expected to:

- Set and maintain the strategy and values.
- Ensure IVAR complies at all times with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
- Maintain proper financial control and ensure IVAR applies its resources exclusively in pursuit of its charitable objects, as defined in the governing documents.
- Support the operational management of the charity.

In addition to these, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board reach sound decisions. Trustees are also actively encouraged to become involved in specific projects outside of board meetings, drawing on their own networks and experience to help support staff in their work.

Commitment and Focus

As Treasurer Trustee, you will support the Board’s oversight of FareShare Yorkshire’s financial governance. Working in close partnership with the Head of Finance & Business, you will help ensure the charity’s finances are well-managed, transparent, and aligned with its strategic objectives.

The Treasurer acts as a critical friend and source of support to the Head of Finance & Business, providing constructive challenge, guidance, and assurance to the Board. You will attend quarterly board meetings (held in Yorkshire) and chair the quarterly Finance Sub-Committee, helping to ensure effective financial governance and clear reporting to the full Board.

About FareShare Yorkshire

FareShare Yorkshire is a charity in its 27th year of operation and has experienced significant growth in recent years. Operating from three sites in Barnsley and Leeds, the organisation delivers surplus food provision services, employability programmes, and runs its own cookery school, The FullCrumb Kitchen. We redistribute enough food for over 100,000 meals every week by taking good surplus food from companies and getting it to where it is needed most.

Key Treasurer Responsibilities

1. Present clear, accurate, and timely financial reports to the Board in a format that supports understanding and effective decision-making, including:

   •  Annual budgets

   • Internal management accounts

   • Annual statutory financial statements

2. Ensure the Board meets its duty to maintain proper accounting records and that financial resources are:

   • Properly controlled

   • Prudently invested

   • Economically and effectively spent in line with good governance, legal and regulatory

     requirements, in liaison with the Head of Finance & Business.

3. Support the development, implementation, and regular review of:

   • Financial reserves policy

   • Cost management approaches

   • Investment policies

4. Advise and support the Board in carrying out its financial responsibilities, providing insight into financial risks, opportunities, and sustainability.

5. Chair the Finance Sub-Committee, setting agendas in partnership with the Head of Finance & Business and ensuring effective financial scrutiny.

6. Provide clear updates and recommendations to the full Board following each Finance Sub-Committee meeting.

7. Scrutinise financial information provided by the Head of Finance & Business and request additional information or clarification where necessary.

8. Support and challenge budget proposals and forecasts presented to the Board.

9. Monitor and advise on the financial viability of the charity, including cash flow, reserves, and long-term sustainability.

10. Ensure appropriate financial controls are implemented, adhered to, and regularly reviewed.

11. Advise the Board on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan and major decisions.

12. Support the Head of Finance and Business to:

    • Prepare information for the annual accounts

    • Manage the annual audit process, including liaison with auditors where appropriate.
      
      The Trustee Role:

    • Ensure the charity fulfils its purposes for public benefit by:
      Complying with its governing document.

    • Adhering to charity law and all other applicable legislation.

    • Acting always in the best interests of the charity.

    • Ensuring the responsible management of the charity’s resources.

    • Overseeing and ensuring compliance with statutory accounting and financial reporting requirements.

    • Declaring any conflicts of interest and exercising independent judgement in all decision- making.

    • Acting as an ambassador and advocate for the organisation and upholding its mission, values, and reputation.

    • Representing the Board and organisation at meetings and events, including acting as a spokesperson when required.

    • Safeguarding the wellbeing and interests of employees.

    • Contributing to the development of the organisation’s strategy by providing constructive challenge and insight.

    • Seeking appropriate professional advice where there is potential risk to the organisation or where trustee duties may be impacted.

    • Taking collective responsibility to ensure the legal and financial integrity of the organisation, including to safeguard its assets and long-term sustainability.

    • Ensuring appropriate procedures are in place for the appointment, support, and performance monitoring of the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT).  

    • Attending and actively contributing to Board meetings on a regular basis.

Skills and Experience

We are particularly seeking a Trustee with:

• Senior-level experience in finance, accountancy, audit, or financial management.

• Strong understanding of financial governance, risk management, and internal controls.

• Experience of:

  • -  Budgeting and financial forecasting

  • -  Reviewing management accounts and statutory accounts

  • -  Financial oversight within a charity, public sector, or commercial environment

    (charity experience desirable but not essential)

• Confidence in presenting financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.

• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data (advantageous).

• The ability to provide supportive challenge and constructive scrutiny.

• The credibility to lead financial discussions at board level while working collaboratively

  with staff and fellow Trustees.

Ideal candidates will have:

o The ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.

The Society of Evidence Based Policing is looking for an additional trustee to join its board, with a particular focus on legal expertise.

SEBP is a registered UK charity that exists to improve policing for the public through the use, production and communication of evidence based practices in policing. We’ve been around since 2012 and although we’re run by and for police personnel, we’re an entirely independent grassroots organisation. You can learn more about our work at our website.

Our board provides governance, oversight, and strategic direction as the organisation grows.

Why we’re recruiting

We are strengthening the board for two reasons. First, resilience: an additional trustee helps ensure meetings remain quorate and decision-making robust when one or two trustees are unavailable. Second, expertise: we would particularly value a trustee with a legal background, ideally in charity and organisational law, to support good governance as SEBP develops.

The role

As a trustee you would:

• Contribute to the strategic direction and good governance of the charity
• Provide advice and scrutiny on organisational, charitable, and compliance matters
• Bring legal perspective to board decisions and emerging issues
• Act as an ambassador for SEBP and its mission

This is an unpaid, voluntary position; reasonable expenses are covered. The board currently meets once every other month, remotely and occasionally in person. Beyond meetings, we would expect occasional ad-hoc input between sessions — for example, a view on a specific governance or legal question — but the overall commitment is modest and manageable alongside a professional role.

You don’t need prior policing or trustee experience. We are interested in hearing from people who:

• Bring legal expertise, particularly in charity law, organisational governance, or employment law
• Are committed to SEBP’s mission of evidence-based policing
• Can think strategically and offer constructive challenge
• Can commit the time to prepare for and attend meetings

Appointments are subject to the standard requirement that candidates are not disqualified from acting as a charity trustee under the Charities Act. Would you like to join our Board of  Trustees of Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust?

This year we are looking for three people to join our Board of Trustees at our AGM in October 26.

Trustees of the Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust (SRWT) are volunteers who together lead the organisation in the planning, resourcing and delivery of its activities, so that it can achieve its charitable objectives.  An enthusiastic, committed and active Board of Trustees, with a good range of knowledge, skills, experience and personal qualities is vital to the healthy and effective running of the organisation.

The Board of Trustees:

• lead the strategic development and planning of the Trust

• develop and adopt appropriate policies

• aim to ensure that the Trust is legally compliant and works to best practice wherever possible

• supports, guides and advises the Trust’s staff and volunteers, especially the CEO and the Executive Team

This year, we are especially keen to hear from people who:

Have expertise, knowledge and experience in one or more of the of the following areas:

• Marketing

• Commercial management, business acumen, profit for purpose experience (with reference to our consultancy)

• Green finance.

• Enterprise development

• Income generation

• Legal experience

• Health, Safety and safeguarding policy and compliance

• Have a good knowledge of communities and/or natural environment in Rotherham

• Can represent more of our diverse community in Sheffield & Rotherham

We are also recruiting for a Trustee to be our Treasurer who will have:

• Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT)

• Ability to analyse proposals and understand financial consequences

• Understanding of financial risk

Skills & Experience

Trustees should demonstrate some or all of the following:

• Passion for nature

• Interest in and enthusiasm for the work of the Wildlife Trust

• Experience of working as part of a decision-making group, board or committee either in a business or voluntary environment

• Experience or knowledge of the legal requirements of a charity

• Local knowledge of the places in which the Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust operates

• Experience of financial management and budgeting in a business or voluntary environment

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!
