The Brent Centre is a long‑established London charity providing specialist psychoanalytic understanding, treatment of and research into Adolescent Mental Health. With a strong clinical heritage and a deep commitment to addressing social and economic inequality, the Centre supports young people experiencing complex and enduring mental health challenges.

We are now seeking a new Chair of the Board of Trustees to lead the organisation through its next phase of development, as the current Chair comes to the end of their term.

This role is unremunerated, with travel expenses paid 
Time commitment: Up to 2 days per month remote/ hybrid (with quarterly Trustee meetings and ad hoc meetings in person)
Location: London (NW6)

About us

Founded in 1967 by a group of pioneering, internationally renowned psychoanalysts, the Brent Centre for Young People was established with a clear purpose: to transform mental health support for adolescents during the critical transition to adulthood, and to tackle the significant health inequalities that exclude many vulnerable young people from accessing the help they need. 

We achieve this by providing age-specific, timely and effective psychoanalytic psychotherapies and practical support to at-risk young people struggling with serious mental health issues like anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and disordered eating.

We have developed a clinical model that puts adolescent needs and development at its core. Our unique approach maximises engagement and achieves deep-rooted and long-lasting change. With nearly six decades of experience, we have evidenced that this model works.

The role

The Chair will provide strategic leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that the organisation is well governed, financially sustainable and delivering its mission with integrity and impact. Working closely with the Chief Executive, the Chair will help shape and steward the Centre’s long‑term vision, strengthen Board effectiveness, and support the organisation to respond confidently to a changing mental health landscape.

This is a governance leadership role that also carries an important external dimension. The Chair will act as an ambassador for the Brent Centre, helping to raise its profile, build relationships and champion the value of psychoanalytic approaches to improving young people’s mental health.

About you

We are seeking an inspiring and committed individual with the time and capacity to engage fully in this role. The successful candidate will bring:

• Significant senior leadership experience in a business, charitable, healthcare or public sector setting
• Demonstrable Board‑level experience, with a strong understanding of governance and trustee responsibilities
• Financial acumen and experience overseeing organisational sustainability and risk
• Strategic insight and the ability to support and challenge executive leadership constructively
• Credibility and confidence to act as an ambassador and external advocate
• A strong commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion and wellbeing

Experience of the mental health sector, or familiarity with psychoanalytic approaches, would be welcome but is not essential. We value curiosity, sound judgement and strong alignment with the Centre’s mission and values.

The Netherton Feelgood Factory exists to support local people. We provide activities, services, and a welcoming space for residents of all ages and backgrounds — but none of that happens without a secure financial foundation. As a small charity, we can't rely on grants and donations alone. Sustainable income from venue hire gives us something equally precious: independence. The freedom to plan ahead, to protect the services people rely on, and to say yes to new ideas. As our Venue Hire & Income Generation Volunteer, you won't just be filling a diary. You'll be helping to future-proof a community asset.

Our organisation provides advice and services to all members of our local community from birth to old age.  We help over 5000 people each year with a variety of health-related or social needs.  Our centre is used as a base for counselling, food distribution, health programmes, children’s activities and social groups.  As funding sources have diminished the demand for our services has increased.  We are actively pursuing other ways to generate income.

We're looking for a volunteer with business, sales, or marketing experience to help us make the most of our fantastic building by hiring it out to local businesses, training providers, clubs, and organisations. Whether you've worked in sales, events, marketing, property, or business development — or simply have a talent for spotting an opportunity and making things happen — we'd love to hear from you.

You'll play a key role in identifying potential hirers, promoting our spaces, and helping us price and package our facilities competitively — all while ensuring the centre's core charitable activities remain protected.

• Identify and approach potential hirers, including local businesses, training providers, clubs, and community organisations
• Develop and maintain a marketing plan to promote the building for hire (e.g. flyers, social media, local business networks, online listings)
• Review and help set competitive, sustainable hire rates for different rooms/spaces and time slots
• Create or improve hire packages (e.g. half-day/full-day rates, regular booking discounts, room set-up options)
• Help develop simple hire agreements, terms and conditions, and invoicing processes (with support from staff/trustees)
• Build relationships with regular or repeat hirers to encourage long-term bookings
• Identify opportunities for new income streams connected to venue hire (e.g. catering add-ons, equipment hire)
• Report progress and income performance to the management team/trustees on a regular basis.

This is a genuinely rewarding role. You'll use your real-world skills to help generate vital income that goes straight back into funding the services our community depends on. You'll have the freedom to be creative — developing hire packages, building relationships with local businesses, and finding new ways to fill our spaces and boost our income.

Purpose of the Role

To join the board as a Volunteer Finanical Director, bringing governance knowledge and strategic thinking to strengthen board effectiveness, uphold the CIC's obligations, and ensure all decisions are made in the best interests of the community we serve.

Role and Responsibilities

1. Guide the Board

• Attend two to three board meetings per month, virtual or hybrid, and come prepared to contribute
• Help ensure decisions are made properly, recorded, and followed through
• Review and respond to decisions outside of meetings within 48 to 72 hours
• Support the review of policies and raise questions when something needs attention
• Support the development of projects and programmes by contributing ideas, strategic thinking, critical insight, and creative, innovative approaches, while bringing energy, boldness, and enthusiasm.

2. Keep Us on Track

• Contribute to strategic decision-making, policy approval, and organisational oversight
• Monitor organisational performance and support the Managing Director in delivery accountability
• Flag risks early and help ensure resources are used well and in line with our mission
• Keep the needs of the communities we serve at the centre of every decision

3. Be a Critical Friend

• Challenge and support the Managing Director with honesty and care
• Ask the questions that need to be asked, even when it is uncomfortable
• Help us grow in a way that is sustainable and grounded in our values

4. Champion What Matters

• Be an ambassador for Zion Wellness in how you show up and speak about us
• Participate in bi-directional mentorship exchanges with young people on the programme
• Ensure safeguarding, inclusion, and community interest are never an afterthought

What We Are Looking For

You will bring:

• A strong professional background in finance, budgeting, and strategic financial planning
• Confident, values-led leadership with the ability to represent the CIC's mission at board level
• A background in leadership, social impact, or community outreach
• Experience in creative direction, entrepreneurship, or project leadership
• Understanding of organisational strategy, stakeholder engagement, and partnership development
• A genuine commitment to systemic change and the communities we serve

It would be great if you also have:

• Governance experience such as trustee, governor, or board-level involvement, though this is not essential
• Experience in a charity, CIC, or grassroots organisation
• Training and induction will be provided for the right candidate

ABOUT CHILDREN WITH VOICES

Children With Voices is a grassroots children's charity with over 25 years of experience supporting children and families across London. Based at Fawcett Estate Community Hall in Clapton, Hackney, we run a Community Food Hub, alternative education, SEN support, and community programmes including Jumping Beans. We have supported over 100,000 families and are recognised nationally for our work.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Behind every programme we run and every family we support, there is careful administration keeping everything in order. We are looking for a Volunteer Admin Coordinator to be that backbone — someone who takes ownership of the detail, keeps our systems running, and makes sure the rest of the team can focus on delivery.

This is an ideal role for someone who is highly organised, discreet, and takes real pride in getting things right.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Day-to-Day Administration

• Manage correspondence, scheduling, and general administrative tasks across the organisation

• Maintain accurate records, databases, and filing systems in line with GDPR and data protection requirements

• Support the preparation of reports, meeting notes, and key organisational documents

Operational Support

• Support the Operations Manager with administrative aspects of HR, finance, and governance

• Help coordinate onboarding for volunteers and new team members

• Track outputs, attendance, and impact data for monitoring and evaluation

Communications & Coordination

• Act as the first point of contact for internal queries — directing people quickly and clearly

• Maintain shared systems and tools so information is easy to find and act on

• Support communication between teams, leadership, and external partners

Governance & Compliance Support

• Help prepare materials for Trustee and leadership meetings

• Support safeguarding admin — DBS checks, consent forms, and record keeping

• Flag gaps in processes and help develop simple, workable solutions

Spectra is a Community Interest Company (CIC), working to improve the choices, health and well-being of structurally excluded communities across London, particularly in their sexual health, emotional resilience and wellbeing, and to combat isolation and minimise risk.

Under the guidance of its Chief Executive and Board of Directors, Spectra’s outstanding staff team provides supportive, knowledgeable, and non-judgmental services, all of which are peer-led, meaning people with lived and learned experience deliver them. Spectra strives to proactively identify the needs of all its service users and support them appropriately and effectively.

We are now seeking a suitably experienced and committed individual to join our Board as a Director of the CIC. You will join a Board of six other Directors.

You will provide strategic direction for the organisation around Communications, marketing and PR. You will support our plans to increase our reach and brand, further our communications work and strategy, including social media marketing and campaigning, and enhance our PR opportunities. You will support Spectra’s delivery of statutory and grant-funded services; help us in advancing our vision and provide constructive scrutiny and oversight of the Chief Executive and the work of Spectra’s staff.

Spectra is based in Vauxhall, South London. It is expected that you will attend five meetings (in the evening, currently online on a Monday evening) and two SMT/Board Away Days each year (currently in person). Expenses

This is a voluntary Board position.

Spectra is a Community Interest Company (CIC), working to improve the choices, health and well-being of structurally excluded communities across London; particularly in relation to their sexual health, emotional resilience and well-being, and to combat isolation and minimise risk.

Under the steer of its Chief Executive and Board of Directors, Spectra’s outstanding staff team provide supportive, knowledgeable, non-judgemental services, which are all peer-led, meaning they are delivered by people with lived experience. Spectra strives to proactively identify the needs of all its service users and support them appropriately and effectively.

We are now seeking a suitably experienced and committed individual to join our Board as a Director of the CIC, and are particularly looking for someone with financial management and budgetary experience, particularly from a voluntary or statutory sector background.

You will provide strategic direction for the organisation on financial management, including helping to shape and support our ongoing financial strategy. You will support Spectra’s delivery of statutory and grant-funded services; help us in advancing our vision and provide constructive scrutiny and oversight of the Chief Executive and the work of Spectra’s staff.

Spectra is based in Vauxhall, South London. It is expected that you will attend five meetings (currently online on a Monday evening) and one SMT/Board Away Day each year (currently in person). In addition, it is envisaged that you will contribute your expertise outside Board meetings on occasion, e.g., to review service or planning reports, to participate in a focus group, etc.

Designated Safeguarding Lead

AuDHD UK

Location: Remote (UK-based)

Reports to: CEO/COO

Commitment: Flexible, part-time (details negotiable)

Role: Unpaid volunteer position

Purpose: To ensure AuDHD UK upholds the highest safeguarding standards, protecting children, young people, and adults at risk. The DSL will oversee safeguarding policies, training, compliance, and case management across the organisation.

The DSL position does not require daily volunteering, but would require timely responses from queries raised by the safeguarding team. 

As a Key Staff member within AuDHD UK, the DSL will be required to provide weekly updates to the COO/CEO regarding safeguarding case management of beneficiaries using AuDHD UK services and are expected to be able to ensure the wider safeguarding team feel supported in their roles. Ideal candidates would be free on Wednesdays at 12-1pm to attend our weekly Key Staff meetings, although this is not essential if the right candidate is unavailable during this time. 

This role requires an Enhanced Adult DBS - please only apply if you meet the requirements for a DBS check to be carried out (a 5 year UK address history with a maximum of 12 months abroad AND a biometric passport/ID card for an online ID check). 

Key Responsibilities

Safeguarding Case Management

• Act as the central point of contact for safeguarding concerns and external escalations.

• Respond to incidents and provide clear advice to staff and volunteers.

• Manage referrals and liaise with statutory agencies when needed.

Risk Assessment & Policy Oversight

• Lead on risk assessments and ensure proportionate responses to concerns.

• Review and update AuDHD UK’s Safeguarding Framework and related policies.

• Ensure safeguarding pathways are clear, accessible, and consistently followed.

Compliance & Governance

• Monitor compliance with safeguarding legislation and guidance.

• Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records.

• Contribute to audits, reviews, and continuous improvement activities.

Training & Awareness

• Deliver in-house safeguarding training for all staff and volunteers.

• Promote a culture of vigilance, accountability, and reflective practice.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Work with the CEO, COO, trustees, Clinical Lead, and Care Coordinator to align safeguarding with organisational goals.

• Bring safeguarding expertise into strategic planning and service design.

Essential Skills & Attributes

• Recognised safeguarding training or substantial safeguarding experience.

• Strong knowledge of safeguarding law, statutory guidance, and best practice.

• Sound judgment, discretion, and empathy in complex situations.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately to sensitive cases.

• Commitment to AuDHD UK’s mission and values.

• Lived experience of AuDHD (desired).

Time Commitment Estimate

• Safeguarding case management including external escalations : 2–4 hrs/week (variable depending on incidents)

• Risk assessment external escalation: 1-3 hours a week (this may be increased at times of increased activity within the charity e.g. before the beginning of Peer Support Cohort assignments

• Policy framework updates: 4–6 hrs/quarter

• Training and team awareness: 2–3 hrs/quarter

• Safeguarding audits, governance, and meetings: 2–4 hrs/quarter
