The difference you will make to cats and people

Without the passionate and committed teams of volunteers across Cats Protection we wouldn’t be able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us for help.
Our Cat welfare team leaders have the important role of coordinating, encouraging and supporting teams of fosterer volunteers and cat care volunteers.
They help make sure volunteers with direct cat care roles are happy and confident and provide advice and guidance when needed.
This incredible teamwork means we are able to help more cats and kittens in need.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Volunteering alongside colleagues including the branch coordinator/team leader, Cat Welfare team, branch development manager and Vet team to ensure that cat care policies, procedures and standards are applied
• Support fosterers to follow cat welfare policies and procedures
• Acting as the main point of contact within the branch for cat welfare and ensuring that welfare updates are shared and implemented effectively
• Supporting the branch by ensuring that accurate and up to date records of all cats helped are maintained, using specified systems
• Attending relevant volunteer training sessions and encouraging other volunteers to do likewise
• With the other volunteers, recruit, induct and support all branch fosterers and cat care volunteers
• Represent the branch at relevant meetings
• Play an active part in the branch committee, being part of the branch team leading on cat adoption information and updates
• Collaborating with the cat adoption team leader to ensure the highest standards of cat care are applied in line with our policies and procedures

Time expectation

The time expectation for this role will vary depending on the number of volunteers and cats in care. Our cat welfare team leaders usually spend between 10 to 12 hours per week in this role which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Volunteer Opportunity: Support Our 55+ Community Programme

Are you passionate about supporting older adults and making a positive impact in your local community?
Queen’s Crescent Community Association (QCCA) is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our vibrant 55+ Programme in the heart of Camden.

QCCA is one of London’s most active and inclusive community centres, offering a wide range of free activities and support services for older residents (55+). Since 2002, our mission has been to help build a happier, healthier, and more connected community—especially within one of Camden’s most deprived neighbourhoods.

Volunteer Role

We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers who enjoy socialising and building rapport with older people. Key responsibilities may include:

• Welcoming and chatting with participants
• Supporting the setup and pack‑down of activities
• Ordering and organising supplies
• Keeping accurate attendance records
• Acommpany outings and events in London (e.g., gardens, museums, music and theatre trips). 

This role is ideal for anyone who enjoys connecting with people, contributing to the community, or gaining experience in a supportive charitable environment.

If you have a particular skill or hobby you would love to share (art, music, movement, crafts, language, etc.), we would be delighted to explore incorporating it into our activity timetable.

Volunteer Hours (Options)

This is a voluntary role.
Activities run Monday to Friday, and each session lasts 2–3 hours. Volunteers can choose the days and sessions that best suit their availability.

We need more fosterers like you to provide a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens and provide them with everything they need before they get their chance to land on their four paws and make a house a home.

Time expectation

Help shape the future of specialist education for young people with vision impairment and complex needs.
At InFocus, we believe everyone deserves to live life to the full, with choice, control, and meaningful opportunities. We support young people who face significant barriers due to vision impairment combined with additional disabilities, helping each individual follow their own pathway towards independence and fulfilment.

We’re now looking for a Volunteer Trustee with strong experience in special education to help guide and strengthen our specialist FE College.

What the role involves

In addition to the standard responsibilities of a trustee, you will:

• Focus on the delivery and development of post-16 education for learners with vision impairment and complex needs

• Scrutinise the quality of teaching and learning

• Provide constructive challenge and professional insight as part of our Education Advisory Committee

• Work closely with our College Principal to champion high-quality, person-centred education

This opportunity would suit someone with experience as:

• A senior leader within a SEND provision

• A headteacher or principal

• A SEND improvement partner

• An Ofsted inspector

Our Board meets seven times a year, with optional invitations to events and celebrations. Trustees are encouraged to attend in person, though online attendance is possible where needed. Travel expenses are covered, and overnight accommodation can be arranged for trustees living outside Devon.

It’s an exciting time to join Victim Support, as we prepare to begin delivery of the Witness Service from April 2026. We look forward to welcoming current Witness Service staff and volunteers to Victim Support — and we’re also now beginning recruitment for several new roles and to fill vacant positions.  

The Witness Service provides free, independent support to any witness giving evidence in criminal courts in England and Wales — both for the prosecution and the defence.  

Our trained staff and volunteers help people understand what to expect before, during and after a trial, and offer practical and emotional support every step of the way, so witnesses can give their best evidence.   

The Witness Service also supports bereaved family members, and friends and family who are accompanying witnesses in court.

What do we ask of you? 

In order to join us as a Witness Service Volunteer, you must: 

• Be 18 years of age or over. 

• Be able to volunteer for at least 1 day per week, for at least 12 months. 

• Undertake training - this includes virtual training days as well as completing online learning modules. 

• Undertake an enhanced DBS check & be part of the DBS update service.

• Be able to provide two satisfactory references. 

• Have an active email address that you are comfortable using in order to engage with VS communications.

We are looking for someone keen to help with coordinating activities between the charities we support and enabling links between them and key local bodies such as councils and the NHS.

We are a very ambitious local grant-making charity that also offers various training, support and consultancy services to small charities and community groups in West London. We now support over 200 local charities and are keen to organise events that bring them together and to promote their access to and influence on key local decision makers. You would also be helping with supporting them with basic governance and management issues.

Our ideal candidate would have a good all-round background in management, consultancy or organisational professional services gained over a number of years, but they need not be experienced in the areas mentioned above. You'd be given full training, with the opportunity to shadow the people already working in these areas. Far more important is adaptability, initiative, an ability to get on well with people from all sorts of backgrounds, and good organisational skills. Most crucially you would have a demonstrable commitment to our ideals of promoting a strong and influential civil society in West London. You will thrive on challenges and find rewards in seeing our objectives achieved.

You would ideally be able to commit an average of 1 day a week and the work would involve dealing with our groups during office hours, so you will probably be someone who is working part-time, or is perhaps retired or semi-retired, or is otherwise not in full-time employment.

Much of the work would be taking place from home, but it will also involve some face to face contact with clients, so living in or around the Ealing, Hounslow or Hillingdon boroughs would be an advantage.

We are looking for dynamic, experienced and values aligned trustees to join our Global and Ghana Boards at this exciting stage of EduSpots’ development.

Background 

EduSpots is an innovative, dynamic, and community-orientated UK and Ghanaian registered charity which connects, trains, and equips grassroots voluntary educators (named ‘Catalysts’) to drive community-led change through education spaces named ‘Spots’. Our vision is of a world in which communities unite to create the futures they want to see, through education.

Since 2016, through collaborating with over 400 local voluntary community educators and actors – named ‘Catalysts’ – who take a central leadership role in the development of the network, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’’. Together, we are developing a model for a community-led education space with accompanying network engagement that could have global relevance. Read our model of change document here.

Our Ghana-based team creates collaborative learning opportunities through three leadership programmes for Catalysts which are increasingly facilitated by the EduSpots app: the Ignite, Catalyse and Inspire Mentoring Programmes. These enable the Catalysts to lead EduKidz (early years education), DigLit (digital literacy), EcoSTEM (STEM and environmental education) and Ignite Equity (gender equity) clubs for learners typically aged 3-16, alongside locally designed education projects, reaching over 10,000 learners of all ages annually. We are in an exciting period of our development, having more than doubled our income, programme breadth and reach in the last two years, with a recent independent evaluation by Expectation State offering further evidence in support of our model’s outcomes. We have been recently selected for two accelerator programmes, who are supporting us as we consider the scaling potential of our model. In the period, we are aiming to double our network reach, bringing an additional 50 Spots into the network.

We won the Tes International Award in 2018 and the Big Give Supporters’ Choice Award in 2022, and we were recently selected as a winner of the 2025 Their World Scale-Up Innovation Prize Winner. Our CEO/Founder was a 2021 Global Finalist in the UNESCO-backed $1 million Global Teacher Prize and is a 2025 UNESCO Youth for Peace Young Leader

About this voluntary role

Time: Approximately 4-8 hours per month

Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and compliance of the charity with UK and Ghanaian law and Charity Commission guidance. Working alongside staff and advisory group members, they should maintain oversight of global strategy delivery, funding, finances and risk management. Most trustees also have a particular focus on one area of work, with a particular need for the following specialisms:

• Fundraising and partnerships (Ghana or global)

• Finance and operations (Ghana-based)

• Law and compliance (Ghana and Global)

EduSpots seeks trustees and Directors who can understand and represent our work, including those who have experience living or working in Ghana, or who have links to wider West Africa.

Trustees are expected to join online board meetings four times a year, with an aim to make one of these an in-person meeting.

Trustees should be hands-on team players with a genuine passion for educational equity and community-driven models of development.

• Ensuring the board fulfils its duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the Charity, including but not limited to operating within its charitable objectives, reviewing and responding to major risks and opportunities and ensuring strong systems are in place to ensure financial accountability.

• Taking ownership for one thematic area of work, and providing high level guidance and advice to the staff team on that topic.

• Attending quarterly Board meetings, reading documents in advance and actively participating in discussions.

• Actively promoting the organisation’s work through their networks and positively representing the organisation at all times.

• Supporting the CEO and key senior staff through informed questioning and oversight to ensure the organisation’s legal responsibilities and strategic objectives are achieved.

Life in a rescue environment is never ideal for any cat compared to a loving home. Our cat adoption team leaders support cat homing and as part of this they may lead a team of volunteer home visitors who collectively play an important part in matching our feline friends with their new families. Our cat adoption team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Acting as the main point of contact within the team for cat adoption enquiries via email/telephone and social media
• Supporting the adoption process through either homefinder questionnaires or a small team of home visitors
• Liaising closely with other volunteers to ensure information on cats being helped is correct and up to date
• Following up on any post-adoption queries
• Play an active part in the volunteer committee, being part of the team leading on cat adoption information and updates

Time expectation

The cat adoption team leader role is vital within our busy volunteer teams. Our current volunteers spend around 10 to 12 hours per week in this flexible role, which can be shared by more than one volunteer if required.
