Our partner is delivering specialist services and long-term support to people affected by conflict, displacement and severe adversity. Through direct programmes, partnerships and systems-level work, they help individuals rebuild their lives and strengthen community-based support structures.
The organisation is now undertaking a major upgrade of its finance function, as its current Sage 50 and Excel-based system is no longer fit for purpose. They are seeking pro bono support to help select and prepare for the implementation of a modern, efficient accounting system that will strengthen controls, reduce manual processing and improve management reporting.
They are looking for an experienced finance professional to work alongside their finance team in a phased engagement, providing both strategic guidance and practical support. The initial phase will focus on clarifying what a “good” future system looks like, defining functional and reporting requirements, preparing for conversations with software providers, and assessing data readiness and migration strategy. Depending on skills, availability and progress, this may then extend into hands-on support with implementation and migration activity.
Key areas of support include:
- Clarifying future finance system requirements and what “good” looks like for the organisation
- Supporting preparation for conversations with accounting software providers
- Reviewing data quality, chart of accounts and readiness for migration
- Sense-checking the proposed implementation approach and project plan
- Supporting development of efficient accounts payable, bank reconciliation and reporting processes
- Advising on integrations, automation and data flows (e.g. bank, CRM, reporting tools)
- Coaching and mentoring finance staff to ensure skills are embedded
The volunteer will work closely with the finance systems project team, led internally by a member of the finance team.
Profile
The ideal volunteer will be a finance professional with strong experience in day-to-day accounting processes and finance systems. They should have worked at a practical level with accounting software and understand what good controls, reconciliations and reporting look like. Experience of system selection, data migration, integrations or automation would be highly valuable, as would a coaching and mentoring mindset. This role would suit someone who enjoys combining hands-on delivery with advisory support.
Time commitment
The assignment will be delivered remotely over an initial three-month period, requiring approximately 2–5 hours per week, with the option to extend depending on progress and mutual availability. The start date is ASAP.

Our Top Priorities
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Fundraising Trustee to work with the staff and Board to develop and build the existing fundraising strategy and capability of this small but rapidly growing national charity to the next step in realising our ambition, whilst embedding good governance, and strengthening the charity’s financial position. As a young charity we still need practical, hands on support from the trustees in their area of expertise while we work to mature into an organisation where the trustees can focus on a purely governance role.
Broad Description of Role
· Contribute actively as a member of the Board of Trustees to provide strategic direction, set overall strategy and policy, set targets and evaluate performance.
· Oversee all fundraising and ensure it is undertaken legally, honestly and accountably. Adhering to the Fundraising Regulator guidelines.
· Work with the CEO, Head of Marketing & Fundraising, Fundraising Manager and Board of Trustees to develop and implement a fundraising strategy for the charity to strengthen our financial sustainability, including maintaining existing donors and developing new funding streams.
· Use pre-existing networks to identify funding opportunities and facilitate introductions as well as strengthening relationships with existing donors and supporters.
· Support the development of a HNW network which will take some creativity in the current climate.
· Oversee the development and use of campaigns, social media and celebrity engagement so support income generation.
· Ensure donor reporting and compliance with fundraising legislation.
Who we’re looking for - knowledge and experience
· Demonstrable experience of fundraising at a senior level within the Third Sector.
· A thorough understanding of the Third Sector, Charity Commission legislation, charity governance and the Fundraising Regulator’s guidelines.
· Awareness of the challenges a small charity can face in developing long term funding streams.
· Experience of donor cultivation and journey.
· Experience of a diverse range of funding streams such as trust and foundations, corporate giving, HNW, individual giving and commercial income generation.
· Excellent networking, influencing and communication skills.
· Active support of fundraising programme.
· Help to create a culture of philanthropy.
Input and Time Commitment:
· A time commitment of 2-4 hours a month would be expected.
· Trustees are expected to be available for regular consultation and input on a range of issues in between meetings, usually via email.
· Attend at least one outreach a year.
· Attend virtual quarterly board meetings, held on third Tuesday of January, April, July, October at 6pm. Meetings duration approx 1 – 2 hours.
o Papers for the meeting are sent the week prior and Trustees must ensure they have read and understood all the information in advance in order to participate fully.
· Attend annual conference – usually 2 days in London.
· Attend in-person annual strategic review, usually half a day, in London.
· Training will be provided to give a good understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, liabilities and responsibilities of trustees.

Role Description
The role of the Chair leads the Board, ensuring its effectiveness in setting the organisation’s culture and direction, and maintaining high standards of governance. The Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM) has supported breastfeeding families across the UK for over 40 years. We provide high-quality, evidence-based information and support to help parents make informed feeding choices and reach their own breastfeeding goals.
ABM is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and is currently in an important period of transition. We are moving from a predominantly volunteer-led organisation to a more sustainable staff-led model, while continuing to value and invest in our volunteers. Feeling Strong is an exciting Dundee-based charity with the ambition to improve the lives of young people living with mental health and wellbeing challenges by fostering the skills, confidence and aspirations they need to flourish. Our services are designed by young people, delivered by young people for the benefit of young people, and we believe that this youth-led/peer-led approach is our biggest asset in tackling issues around mental health and wellbeing. We support stable recovery journeys for young people, lead campaigns to tackle societal issues, develop quality resources based on our own research, and tackle the disparity they face in unemployment, underemployment and accessing opportunities like further and higher education.
YOUR COMMITMENT
Whilst the Trustee Board meets for formal meetings 6 times a year, successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the organisation more widely, taking part in fundraisers, external events, strategic planning and advising the staff team when needed. The average contribution expected of Trustees is around one - two hours per month.
Work-related travel costs will be reimbursed.

White Ribbon Alliance UK are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join as Trustees. In this role, you will be instrumental in governing our charity and ensuring we achieve our mission to promote maternal health and rights. Trustees serve for a term of three years, with the possibility of renewal at the end of the term. We are looking to fill the positions of General Trustees, Board Chair, Treasurer, and Compliance Officer. Your strategic vision, commitment, and ambassadorial efforts will be vital in driving our organisation forward and making a significant impact on the communities we serve. JOB DESCRIPTION
Statutory Duties of a Trustee
Trustees share ultimate responsibility for governing the charity and directing how it is managed and run. This includes:

Ensuring that the organisation pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy.

Ensuring compliance with the governing document (constitution or articles of association), charity law, company law and other relevant legislation or regulations.

Ensuring that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its charitable objects, for the benefit of the public.

Ensuring that the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets.

Safeguarding the good name, reputation, and values of the organisation.

Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including appropriate policies and procedures.

Ensuring the financial stability of the organisation.

Protecting and managing the property of the charity and ensuring the proper investment of its funds.

Following proper arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of senior staff.

Ambassadorial Contributions
In addition to their statutory duties, Trustees are requested to use their specific skills, knowledge, networks, or experience to strengthen the board’s work according to their skills, capabilities, interests and available time. This includes:

Promoting the charity's mission and values: Trustees should consistently advocate for the charity's goals and principles in various settings, ensuring that the organisation's message is clearly communicated.

Representing the charity at external events: Trustees should attend and participate in meetings, conferences, and other events on behalf of the charity, acting as its official representatives.

Engaging with media: Trustees should be prepared to speak to the media about the charity's work, providing insights and information that highlight the organisation's impact and importance.

Time Commitment

Statutory duties for general trustees: 8-10 days per year.

1. Organisational Information:
1.1 The Walton Firs Foundation is a Surrey-based registered charity (Charity registration number: 1113830), and a company limited by guarantee without share capital (Companies House registration number: 05695208). The Foundation’s charitable mission is to support young people’s personal development and social inclusion, through enabling their engagement in outdoor education, vocational training, and volunteering programmes. Since its establishment in 2006, the Foundation has enabled over 250,000 young people from across the south-east of England to learn, develop and enjoy in nature, including many whose backgrounds and circumstances have previously restricted their access to the natural environment. The Foundation is a recipient of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, in recognition of its developmental impact on the lives of young people. In 2024/25, the Foundation recorded a total income of £852,977, and a net trading surplus of £81,286.
1.2 The Foundation owns and manages Walton Firs Activity Centre, a fifty-acre facility that provides forty land-based outdoor education activities and residential capacity to accommodate up to 1,100 young people. The activity centre is commissioned by a wide range of children’s and youth service providers and by primary, secondary and SEND schools to deliver high quality curriculum enhancement programmes and outdoor learning activities. In addition, the activity centre directly-delivers a range of services for local young people, including holiday and afterschool activity projects, work experience programmes, and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. In 2024/25, Walton Firs Activity Centre delivered 479 service commissions and engaged 32,000 young people in outdoor learning activities and programmes.
1.3 Currently, the Foundation has six trustees / directors, who work with the company secretary under the leadership of the chairman of the board, to provide oversight and scrutiny of, and support and guidance to, the chief executive officer and the activity centre management team. A group of twenty-five charity patrons provide overview over the trustees / directors.

2. Role Purpose:
2.1 The Trustees / Directors of the Walton Firs Foundation serve simultaneously as a charity trustees and as company directors, and manage statutory duties under the Companies Act 2006. They are responsible for the strategic direction, operational governance, and financial status of the organisation, and work closely with the chief executive officer to ensure the Foundation delivers its charitable objects and activities for the public benefit, in compliance with the Charity Commission’s regulations and company law. The role’s key accountabilities include ensurance of the Foundation’s capacity to manage high-quality outdoor education experiences and facilities for young people, whilst complying with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.

3.1.1 Ensure the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law, and other relevant legislation / regulations including health and safety, safeguarding, data protection, and employment law.

3.1.3 Ensure that organisational policies, procedures, and practices comply with legal requirements and sector best practice.
3.1.4 Ensure the safeguarding and promotion of the wellbeing and safety of children and young people.
Strategic Leadership:
3.2 The Trustees / Directors:
3.2.1 Contribute to setting the organisation’s strategic direction, vision, mission, and values.
3.2.2 Monitor the organisation’s performance against agreed objectives and outcomes.

Financial Stewardship:

4.1.1 Act in the charity’s best interests – prioritise the needs of the charity beneficiaries above personal or external interests.
4.1.2 Manage the charity’s resources responsibly – ensure effective use of charity funds, assets, and staff and volunteers.
4.1.3 Act with reasonable care and skill – use personal and professional competencies and experience to inform charity decision-making.
4.1.4 Ensure accountability – be answerable to beneficiaries, patrons, the Charity Commission, funders, and the wider public.
5. Statutory Duties as a Company Director:
5.1 In accordance with the Companies Act 2006, the Directors of the Walton Firs Foundation:
5.1.1 Promote the success of the company for the benefit of its customers.
5.1.2 Exercise independent judgment and make organisational decisions objectively.
5.1.3 Exercise reasonable care, skill and diligence based on personal and professional expertise and the standards expected of a company director.
5.1.4 Avoid conflicts of interest and declare any that arise.
5.1.5 Refuse benefits from third parties that could compromise their independence.
5.1.6 Ensure accurate records and filings are maintained with Companies House.

7. Additional Information:
7.1 Trustees / Directors are appointed for a term of four years, renewable subject to board approval.
7.2 The Trustee / Director role is unpaid, but reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed where requested.

About the role?
Our Trustees play a critical role in the organisation, helping set the strategy and review progress in relation to it, providing support, challenge and expertise to the Chief Executive and Directors.
A Trustee plays an essential role in seeking to maximise VoiceAbility’s positive impact as well as to stretch and hold to account the Chief Executive.
The role also has ultimate responsibility for the compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as ensuring that the organisation acts in line with its charitable objectives and is financially stable. You will be engaged and motivated by the work of VoiceAbility and be able to build strong relationships and have experience of working as a non-Executive director or Trustee; however, lived experience is equally important.
We are seeking to recruit Trustees who bring Expertise in Finance, Safeguarding, Human Resources, Commercial and Operational Delivery.
Time commitment
Approximately one day per month. Please note that this time commitment will be spread across multiple days and is likely to be cyclical.
There are four board meetings per annum. Board meetings tend to be online, but face-to-face, or hybrid meetings may take place from time to time. There would also be a commitment of two to four committee meetings per annum, a board strategy or development day and site visits. Each trustee will also belong to at least one committee.

Our Board is made up of a small, committed group of trustees who bring a mix of professional expertise and personal connection to our cause. Who Are We?
Framework is a registered charity delivering housing support, health, and employment services to people with a diverse range of needs. We assist rough sleepers and those who need help to keep their home. We support excluded youngsters as they make their way into adulthood and those starting or returning to work. We provide access to treatment for people with mental health issues and those using alcohol or substances, and we join up services for homeless people with multiple and complex needs.
Our 70 services across Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and Sheffield support more than 18,000 people each year and accommodate more than 1,300 people at any one time. Responding to their needs, respecting their choices and empowering them to achieve, we aim to make life better for our service users and those around them.

At least two successful candidates will also become members of the Audit and Risk Management Committee (ARM), with one having future aspirations to become the Chair of the ARM Committee.
