Whether they are navigating school, family, identity, or simply trying to find their place in the world, too many of them are doing it without the visibility, support, or role models they deserve. We exist to change that - to tell them clearly and consistently that it gets better, and that their lives have value exactly as they are.

It Gets Better UK is part of the global It Gets Better movement, present in over 20 countries. Since launching here in 2018, we have reached over 2.5 million people across all four nations through digital content, storytelling, and a growing volunteer community. We show up at Prides, we tell real stories, and we keep finding new ways to reach the young people who need to hear from us - through projects like our volunteer-led podcast and Voices of Wales, for example.

We are at a genuinely exciting point in our development. With a largely volunteer-led model that is embedded and working, and new trustees joining us to help shape our direction, we are focused on building a strategy that allows us to grow sustainably and serve LGBTQ+ young people more effectively across the UK. The people joining our board now will not just oversee that work - they will help design it.

We are looking for three new trustees, each bringing specific expertise:

• Fundraising and income generation - We are looking to diversify and strengthen our income base, with particular focus on grants, trusts and foundations and community fundraising. If you have professional fundraising experience and know how to build financial resilience in a values-led organisation, we want to hear from you.
• Marketing and communications - Our work is fundamentally about reaching people, and social media is central to how we do that. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of digital platforms, content strategy, and how to build and engage audiences - particularly young people.
• Finance - Sound financial governance is essential as we plan for the future. We are looking for someone with a professional finance background who can support the board in its financial oversight responsibilities and help us build long-term resilience.

Because we are a largely volunteer-led charity, our trustees tend to be more operationally involved than you might find at a larger organisation. This is a hands-on role, and one that offers a genuine opportunity to contribute your expertise to something that matters.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Volunteering alongside colleagues including the branch coordinator/team leader, Cat Welfare team, branch development manager and Vet team to ensure that cat care policies, procedures and standards are applied
• Support fosterers to follow cat welfare policies and procedures
• Acting as the main point of contact within the branch for cat welfare and ensuring that welfare updates are shared and implemented effectively
• Supporting the branch by ensuring that accurate and up to date records of all cats helped are maintained, using specified systems
• Attending relevant volunteer training sessions and encouraging other volunteers to do likewise
• With the other volunteers, recruit, induct and support all branch fosterers and cat care volunteers
• Represent the branch at relevant meetings
• Play an active part in the branch committee, being part of the branch team leading on cat adoption information and updates
• Collaborating with the cat adoption team leader to ensure the highest standards of cat care are applied in line with our policies and procedures

Time expectation

The time expectation for this role will vary depending on the number of volunteers and cats in care. Our cat welfare team leaders usually spend between 10 to 12 hours per week in this role which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Volunteer Assistant to support our organisation's initiatives and community outreach programmes. We are looking for someone keen to move into the area of advising small charities on management and governance issues.

We are a very ambitious local grant-making charity that also offers various training, support and consultancy services to small charities and community groups in West London. Our broad-ranging plans are now beginning to bear fruit and so we need volunteers to help us in the following areas as demand for our services continues to grow:

· Supporting small groups and start-ups with basic governance and management issues

· Assessing the impact of our services on groups

· Outreach to new groups

· Possibly helping out with grant application assessments when needed

Our ideal candidate would have a good all-round background in management, consultancy or organisational professional services gained over a number of years, but they need not be experienced in the areas mentioned above. You'd be given full training, with the opportunity to shadow the people already working in these areas. Far more important is adaptability, initiative, an ability to get on well with people from all sorts of backgrounds, and good organisational and writing skills. Most crucially you would have a demonstrable commitment to our ideals of promoting a strong and influential civil society in West London. You will thrive on challenges and find rewards in seeing our objectives achieved.

You would ideally be able to commit an average of 1 day a week and the work would involve dealing with our groups during office hours, so you will probably be someone who is working part-time, or is perhaps retired or semi-retired, or is otherwise not in full-time employment.

Much of the work would be taking place from home, but it will also involve some face to face contact with clients, so living in or around the Ealing, Hounslow or Hillingdon boroughs would be an advantage.

All reasonable expenses will be reimbursed and refreshments provided where suitable.

Youth Advantage UK is a charitable organisation that uses a research-led approach to inform policy work and projects
that aim to promote and further the human rights of young people aged 11 to 25 across the United Kingdom.

The Volunteer Operations Analyst ensures that this contribution is organised, visible and aligned with the organisation’s mission, safeguarding responsibilities and growth.

You will play a key role in connecting people, systems and structure—ensuring that volunteer engagement is consistent, well-managed and sustainable as the C.I.C grows.

This is not a purely administrative role. It is insight-driven, systems-focused and central to how the organisation operates effectively behind the scenes.

Role Summary

The Operations Analyst is responsible for measuring, analyzing, and optimizing the organization’s
internal operations to improve efficiency, accountability, and overall performance. This role focuses on operational systems development, process evaluation, workflow optimization, and organizational effectiveness, enabling leadership to make informed decisions and ensuring that the organization’s activities are structured, scalable, and effective.

While analytical skills are essential, this is not a traditional Data Analyst role. The emphasis is on understanding how systems, teams, and workflows function, and using insight to design and improve operational structures, not just analyze datasets.

The Operations Analyst does not execute or enforce tasks, but plays a critical role in diagnosing
operational challenges and recommending actionable, system-level solutions.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

• Translate data and observations into clear, actionable, system-focused recommendations

3. Process Analysis & Workflow Design

• Document and map existing workflows across functions (HR, Programs, Operations, etc.)
• Analyze how work actually flows across teams—not just what is recorded in data
• Identify bottlenecks

WORKING RELATIONSHIP:
The Operations Analyst will:

• Report directly to the Director of Central Operations & Executive Coordination
• Support decision-making but will not replace leadership authority
• Work collaboratively across all teams while maintaining objectivity and independence

Success in this role will be measured by:

• Quality and impact of operational insights and recommendations
• Measurable improvements in workflow efficiency and system effectiveness
• Reduction in process bottlenecks and delays

What Success Looks Like in This Role:
Within the first 60–90 days, the Operations Analyst should:

• Establish a functional and structured operations tracking system
• Deliver insight-driven reports that highlight system-level issues (not just data summaries)
• Identify and recommend improvements to at least 2–3 key operational workflows
• Provide leadership with clear visibility into how operations actually function and where improvements are needed

• This is a strategic operations role, not a purely analytical or reporting position
• Ideal for individuals who are passionate about:

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and organised Volunteer Fundraising Assistant to support our Challenge Events and Community Fundraising team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced fundraising environment, supporting key campaigns such as the London Marathon and community-led fundraising initiatives. You’ll play a vital role in helping us deliver exceptional supporter experiences and maximise income to fund life-changing wishes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the coordination of challenge events (e.g. London Marathon, runs, cycles)
• Assist with supporter stewardship, including emails, calls and event communications
• Help manage and update supporter data (Salesforce or similar CRM)
• Support the delivery of community fundraising activities and campaigns
• Assist with event preparation and logistics, including materials and packs
• Help monitor fundraising progress and identify opportunities to support participants
• Provide general administrative support to the fundraising team

What We’re Looking For

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• A proactive and positive attitude
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office (experience with CRM systems is a bonus)
• An interest in fundraising, events, or the charity sector
• Ability to commit to at least 1 day per week in our Finchley office

Expenses: This is a voluntary position, but we reimburse reasonable out-of-pocket expenses in line with our policy

Main tasks

We need individuals who can manage a group of volunteers within their region and work with Human Appeal staff members to ensure volunteers’ active involvement in events and campaigns.

 Recruit new volunteers and lead current volunteers who will be allocated to your team

 Communicate important campaign-related information to your team

 Organise 2 Fundraising events or community projects with your team within an assigned budget in the year.

 Actively attend and participate in Team Leader meetings and complete any actions allocated to you E.g Recruiting volunteers for online fundraising.

 Work with the Human Appeal staff team to deliver campaigns and 2 in-person events for the year.

 Organise and attend Monthly Meetings with your Volunteers

 Where possible, support with Team Leader recruitment by joining the interviewing panel

We will provide you with the tools, training and support you need but here are a few things we are looking for:

 Excellent communication, negotiation, influencing, innovation and interpersonal skills

 Willingness to learn and develop as an individual and accept constructive feedback

 Ability to build and maintain relationships with all levels of people

Learning and Development

To enable you to take part in this opportunity Human Appeal will provide:

 Leadership training to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to fulfil the role

 A dedicated member of staff to provide ongoing support and supervision

 Webinars to provide you with the information you require for the campaign

 A volunteer handbook that outlines the policies and procedures you need to be aware of whilst volunteering
