Community shop manager volunteer roles

Our shops help raise lots of money for us. It’s always lovely chatting to our customers about the fabulous items we sell and telling them about the fantastic work that we do. As a volunteer you will get the chance to meet new people and make friends, plus be part of an amazing team of volunteers.
There’s so much for you to get stuck into when volunteering in our shops. We get lots of donations so you will be rolling up your sleeves in the back room where you will be receiving, sorting, steaming and pricing donations, it's always exciting when one of our volunteers spots a real gem. 
On the shop floor, as well as welcoming and serving our customers with a smile, you will be using the till (don't worry, we will show you how) and handling money. When people come in to donate items you will also be completing the Gift Aid forms that let their donations help us even more.
It’s really important that our window and shop displays look appealing so people keep visiting our shops, so you'll be wielding a duster and vacuum as well as your imagination to make the shop look its best.
It would be ideal if you could volunteer one shift a week, which is about four hours but we're also happy to have more flexible times. No special skills are needed as we will show you what to do and will provide all the training you need. But if you have any experience or particular interest tell us, it may come in useful. Our fundraising events organisers have the exciting and varied role of helping plan and deliver local fundraising events to raise the vital funds needed to help cats. Our fundraising events organisers use their passion for cats and people to plan cake sales, barn dances, quiz nights and everything in between.

What we need from you

• following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

Time expectation

Our fundraising events organisers usually spend two to three hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer.

The Role: 

As a volunteer, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Sorting, pricing and organising book donations
• Identifying valuable and collectable books
• Create attractive and engaging book displays

The Role: 

As a volunteer, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Sorting, testing, and pricing donated toys
• Identifying missing pieces and completing sets where possible
• Creating attractive and engaging toy displays on the shop floor
• Ensuring all toys meet safety standards before being sold
• Greeting and assisting customers when required
• Assisting with till operations when needed

The Volunteer: 

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has an interest in toys, games, and children’s items
• Is confident in basic testing of battery-operated toys
• Has good attention to detail

Oxfam's Heaton Shop is looking for Shop Volunteers to help Oxfam’s fight to support the world’s most vulnerable communities.

We’re looking for volunteers who can give 4-8 hours (or more!) of their time in the shop each week, and we’re excited to welcome brand new volunteers to our stores!

Right now, we're looking for people to help in the shop in our shop in a general capacity.

• Supporting sustainable practices by ensuring items are displayed appropriately and unsellable items are redirected responsibly
