Sooty, the nation’s much-loved bear and a true national treasure, has featured on RNIB’s collection boxes for over 50 years. Thanks to generous public support, these iconic boxes have raised more than £13 million in donations.

We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to join our network of Sooty Box collectors. In this flexible role, you’ll help place new boxes and collect and bank donations from Sooty Boxes in local shops, cafés and other businesses in your area. Whether you volunteer on your own, with a friend or as part of a group, you’ll be making a real difference in your community.

You can give as much or as little time as you like and fit the role around your other commitments.

Please note: Volunteers are expected to use their own transport and ideally should have access to a car. Mileage or public transport costs will be reimbursed.

A bit about this role

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

The Role

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven experience in grant fundraising, bid writing, or income generation within the charity or voluntary sector.
• A strong track record of securing funding from trusts, foundations, statutory bodies, or corporate funders.
• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce compelling and persuasive funding applications.
• Strong research, planning, and organisational abilities.
• The ability to build and maintain productive relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Remuneration

This is a self-employed position offering 15% commission on all secured funding generated through successful applications and funding bids.

Volunteering in the shop

Our Retford Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

Within CPSL Mind's serives, our trainined Peer Mentor "walk alongside" individuals on thier recovery journey as they work towards specific personal goals through 1:1 work or group support. This service is offered Monday to Friday between office hours. 

Aims of the service is to:

• Reduce loneliness and social isolation among adults
• Improve mental wellbeing and confidence through regualar social contact
• Encourage informal physical activity, including walking, gentle exercise and community particiaption 
• Strengthen resilience by supporting individuals to access public services, groups and wider community provision

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported. Activities include:

You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers. You will be supported and guided from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

We're looking for someone with the following:

· The ability to prioritise and delegate

· An appreciation of the importance of handling money and charity resources responsibly

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

IRMO works to enable the development, agency, and participation of Latin Americans and other Spanish and Portuguese speakers, by responding to both immediate needs and structural inequalities. We do this by offering high-quality information and advice services, opportunities for development and training, and a platform to seek social and systemic change. About our Education, Training and Employment Programme

Our comprehensive Education, Training and Employment (ETE) programme runs various activities to improve our beneficiaries' social and cultural integration in the UK. These activities include 12-week English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses for adults and online conversation classes. 

We also deliver one-to-one employment support, mentoring, vocational training, and workshops on a range of topics to support the Latin American community in navigating the UK system. Additionally, our volunteer scheme provides volunteers with valuable work experience to enter London’s competitive job market. About the role

We are looking for a motivated ESOL Teaching Assistant to support the smooth delivery of our ESOL classes at Pre-Entry and Entry 1 levels for Latin American migrants and refugees. You will assist the ESOL Teacher with classroom delivery following our pre-prepared syllabus and teaching materials, along with a variety of audio-visual aids to improve learners’ speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English.

As an ESOL Teaching Assistant, you will encourage learners to communicate using the structures and vocabulary they have learnt, with a strong emphasis on dialogue and role-playing, alongside more formal exercises and language games.

We are seeking a volunteer holding either a formal teaching qualification (e.g. CELTA, CertESOL or similar) or prior experience in teaching English to speakers of other languages. 

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Support with the planning, preparation and delivery of high-quality ESOL lessons in a community setting

• Mark and provide appropriate feedback on oral and written work

• Guide the class according to the syllabus and learning outcomes as instructed

• Ensure learners participation during class and monitor attendance

• Create a safe and inclusive learning environment, identify gaps and adapt activities to learners’ needs

• Provide one-to-one learner support in class as required, to ensure needs relating to learning difficulties and disabilities are met

• Prepare and set exercises, materials and examination papers as necessary

• Undertake administrative tasks, such as keeping student registers and attendance records

• Provide logistical support with arranging the room, setting out refreshments and class tidy upContribute towards outcome and impact measurement for learners at the end of each term

We are looking for

• A recognised ESOL qualification, such as those listed on the TESOL website, is essential (e.g. TEFL or CELTA) or equivalent experience

• Verbal and written communication skills in English and either Spanish and/or Portuguese

• A flexible and enthusiastic person who is confident working in a multicultural and multilingual environment

• An empathetic approach to working with beneficiaries whose needs may vary or change over time

• Ability to work resourcefully and in collaboration with others

• Good IT skills, including in using Microsoft and Google suite packages, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases

Trustees are wanted for the Community and Youth Music Library.As a board member of our small charity, you will invest just a few hours a year to ensure we run well and effectively, but that time you give allows us to help thousands of singers and instrumentalists to hit the right notes!

Choirs and orchestras come to CYML to hire sets of music scores for a wide range of music.  Our professional librarians manage the stock, the hires, and give support and advice to amateur and professional groups.  Our current Trustees include respected choral conductors. Our work enables thousands of people to enjoy and excel at singing and playing.

We are asking for a small investment of your time and abilities - advocacy, sourcing funding, publicity, financial management - but you can make a big difference to the cause of choral music across the country. You don’t need to be musical, just have a positive view of the importance of music to learning, physical and mental well-being and social inclusion.

Connection Support has a range of services providing support to people at risk of homelessness or on the edge of needing social care. We work with people made vulnerable through debt, mental health issues, substance misuse, learning disability, and physical disabilities.

Volunteers play a key role in the provision of vital services to our clients.

Could you prevent loneliness and isolation in your community and become a befriender?

• Do you have 2-3 hours a week to give to a client suffering from loneliness or mental health? (For a mutual agreement of time and locations that meet clients’ needs)

Key responsibilities

 Volunteering with Victim Support in Staffordshire

As a Volunteer in Staffordshire your role will include:

·  Making a real impact by helping people affected by crime feel safer, supported, and empowered.

·  Building valuable skills and confidence through specialist training in safeguarding, risk assessment, and supporting victims of crime.

·  Representing Victim Support at local events and community activities, raising awareness and connecting with people who need help.

What do we ask of you?

In order to join us as a Service Delivery Volunteer, you must:

·  Be 18 years of age or over.

·  Be able to volunteer for at least 6 hours per week, for at least 12 months.

·  Undertake training over a 10-week period – this includes 7 virtual training days as well as completing a workbook and online learning modules.

·  Undertake an enhanced DBS check & be part of the DBS update service.

·  Be able to provide two satisfactory references.

·  Have an active email address that you are comfortable using in order to engage with VS communications.

Finance Trustee - Treasurer

Goals 4 Girls is a London based charity dedicated to empowering girls and young women through football, mentoring and leadership development.

We work with girls and young women from underserved communities who face barriers to participation in sport, confidence building and personal development. Through structured programmes delivered in schools and communities, we support girls to build resilience, improve wellbeing and develop leadership skills.

Working closely with the Chair, CEO and Board, the Treasurer will support strategic decision-making by ensuring that trustees have clear and accurate financial information and that the charity operates with robust financial controls.

The Treasurer plays an important role in helping the Board balance ambition and growth with responsible financial stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

The Treasurer will:

· Oversee the presentation of budgets, management accounts and annual financial statements to the Board.

· Ensure that appropriate financial systems, controls and procedures are in place.

· Monitor the financial health and sustainability of the organisation.

· Support the development and review of financial policies, including reserves and risk management.

· Provide financial insight to support strategic planning and growth.

· Work with the Chair, CEO, leadership team and with the Goals 4 Girls accountant to ensure effective financial planning and reporting.

· Ensure compliance with Charity Commission, SORP reporting and good governance principles

· Oversee preparation of the charity’s annual accounts and liaise with external accountants or auditors.

· Ensure financial risks are identified and appropriately managed.

· Help build financial understanding across the Board by presenting financial information clearly and accessibly.

Skills and Experience

We are seeking a treasurer with strong charity financial expertise who is motivated by the opportunity to support a growing charity making a positive impact in young people’s lives. Please note that only London-based candidates will be considered and this position requires an enhanced DBS check and two professional references.

The ideal candidate will bring:

Essential

·A professional background in charity finance with at least 5 years post-qualification as an accountant, investment or financial management professional 

· Experience of financial oversight, governance or strategic financial planning in the charity sector

· Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills

· The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences

- An understanding of the Charity Commission requirements relating to finance and governance

Desirable 

Experience of supporting organisational growth or scaling programmes 

· Interest in sport, youth development or gender equality

Time Commitment

The Treasurer role is voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.

Expected commitment:

· Attendance at monthly Board meetings - these are mostly online with the occasional in person Board meeting

· Occasional committee or working group participation where relevant

· Preparation and review of financial information between meetings

The average commitment is approximately 5 –7 hours per month including a one hour monthly Board meeting.

Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term, with the option of renewal.
