In this role, you will work closely with the Insights, Marketing, and Development teams to analyse data, improve reporting, and help the organisation make more informed decisions around user engagement and retention. Chance to Shine is looking for volunteers to support our Strategy, Impact, and Evaluation department. We are looking for volunteers who can come to our Holborn office and dedicate approximately 2-3 days per month to supporting our data digitisation. You do not need to commit to full days; hours can be arranged to fit your availability but we ask that each session would be a minimum three-hour block between 9am and 5pm (e.g., one full day and three-four half-days across a month)

As a charity, we collect feedback from children via paper surveys to understand the impact of our programmes. We need dedicated volunteers to help us accurately transfer this data into our Excel systems so we can effectively report on our work and improve young people's wellbeing.

The key responsibilities are:

• Data Entry: Manually entering data from paper survey forms into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets with accuracy.
• Data Cleaning: Reviewing entries for errors or missing information.
• Deciphering: Interpreting difficult-to-read handwriting and making logical judgment calls (or flagging issues) where data is unclear.
• File Management: Organising and filing the physical paper surveys securely after entry. If you are comfortable using Excel, have good concentration, strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and good communication skills, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role

Our volunteers are at the heart of Mind Retail, and without the help and support we receive from our volunteer teams we wouldn't be successful at what we do. As a Financial Analysis Volunteer, you will be working behind the scenes with the data that drives our retail network, providing an effective and proactive reporting support for retail Shop Teams, internal colleagues, and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). Whether you are a student eager to gain practical experience with real-world datasets, or an experienced finance professional wanting to give back to the community, your insights will directly empower our teams and make a tangible difference to Mind Retail.

How You Can Support Us

Working closely with our finance, commercial, and data teams, you will help to translate financial data into meaningful insights for stakeholders. Day-to-day, you will be:

• Supporting the creation and improvement of financial reports and financial models.
• Assisting in looking at the numbers to understand the differences between what we expected to happen and what actually happened (referred to as variance analysis). You will also help check that our data is consistent across the teams.
• Helping us continuously identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance data visualisation capabilities.
• Working with the team to organise our data better and automate repetitive tasks. If you want to learn, or already know about, advanced Excel features (like Power Query or macros) and Power BI (creating interactive dashboards), this is a great place to practice and apply those skills.
• Using a range of office software including email, spreadsheets and database information to produce timely and accurate reports.
• Assisting with ad hoc tasks relating to the reporting and analysis.

What the role involves

This is a varied role that each branch tends to do a bit differently, but it will involve:

• Accurately maintaining income and expenditure records to  document and report on branch finances

• Offering objectivity around the spending of money and ensuring money is spent in a cost-effective manner

• Approving income and expenditure with the other branch bank account signatories

• Ensuring that our financial requirements and policies relating to group finances are followed

We're looking for a finance bookkeeper volunteer who can support the financial administration of the charity using our finance software,  Xero. We The volunteer will support the Chair to undertake regular financial tasks such as budgeting, reporting, and audits while ensuring financial transparency. 
 

Key Tasks and Objectives

• Support the financial management of the Charity using Xero
• Data Entry: Recording financial transactions such as donations, invoices and expenses into our finance software, Xero.
• Weekly Reconciling income into Xero from GoCardless, Stripe, PayPal and other third-party agencies that facilitate donations being made to the charity.
• Maintain financial and accounting records, ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Assist with preparing payroll and/or pension information for submission to an external payroll provider (when required)

The Opportunity
IDEMS is seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Director to join its Board at this exciting stage of growth.

Role Purpose

Screen Share is the leading refugee digital inclusion charity in the UK. Our mission is to ensure every refugee in the UK has a connected device and the skills to use it to achieve their goals. 

We currently support 2000 clients a year with devices, internet connectivity and digital skills training and volunteering opportunities. 

The organisation is entering a key period of growth. Having professionalised successfully in 2025, we are launching an ambitious 5-year strategy to significantly scale our programmes across the UK. 

This represents a critical moment in our journey as a young organisation. As we deepen our impact and pursue financial sustainability, we are looking to onboard 3 new trustees to add significant governance experience in key areas. 

Trustee: Charity Trading and Commercialisation 

Our fundraising strategy prioritises corporate and trading income. That strategy is complemented by our trading income strategy, which seeks to invest in traded services which support our mission, including digital inclusion services, IT Repair, IT Leasing and IT Asset Disposal. We have good experience in these areas and are looking for a trustee to oversee and significantly contribute to decision-making regarding when and how to enter these markets. The postholder will ideally be a current or former leader of a social enterprise or charity that trades, who can provide the board with the expertise it needs to make informed decisions. This trustee will bring relevant insight on sustainable income diversification and fundraising strategy. 

Trustee: Digital Governance 

We handle sensitive client data, and act as a processor for sanitising donated devices. This creates significant cybersecurity, data protection responsibilities. We have a cybersecurity strategy, dedicated staff time and also receive pro-bono support to discharge those responsibilities effectively, but we need a trustee with expertise to provide genuine oversight in this area and represent the position at board level. Strong candidates will bring expertise in data governance, cybersecurity policy or digital risk management. We would particularly welcome candidates who bring expertise in digital inclusion alongside this. 

Trustee: Safeguarding 

As we scale up across the UK, we are making the intentional decision to deepen our relationship with our clients. We work with some of the most vulnerable people in the UK, so our board needs to be confident that we are providing proper oversight of how we keep them safe in the context of support. We are looking for a trustee with governance-level safeguarding experience who understands safeguarding frameworks and legislation, can scrutinise our policies and procedures, and hold our staff team to account in this area. This trustee will lead our Safeguarding sub-committee.

Roles available: Three trustee positions: Charity Trading and Commercialisation; Digital Governance; Safeguarding

We need volunteers in this role to help gather as much data as possible as part of our Wild Magic project, so we can see the way that new management techniques will impact upon wildlife, and how it contributes to The Owen Smith Charitable Trust; monitoring the changes in the numbers and types of species found at Wild Magic, and the changes in habitat provision.

We are aiming to undertake surveys and monitoring relating to birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and plant species. By volunteering you will be helping us to gain a better understanding of the species and habitats within the project area, and how the species, their populations and the habitat changes in relation to the management practices.

• Help conduct wildlife and plant surveys
