Time expectation

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  
• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
• championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

Clinical Trustee and Digital Transformation Trustee

At Birmingham Hospice, our work is guided by compassion, dignity and respect. We support people and families through some of life’s most important moments, and we know that delivering exceptional care now and, in the future, depends on strong governance, thoughtful leadership and well-led change.

We are seeking two new Trustees to join our Board and help guide the next stage of our journey:

Clinical Trustee: We are looking for a senior clinical professional who can support our board level decision making through their experience & clinical insight, this knowledge with allow for the appropriate level of assurance and to ensure that our patients continue to receive outstanding care. You will also use your experience to support and engage our leadership teams to ensure that our commissioner and regularity standards are maintained through building effective relationships with our senior clinical team. It would be desirable for experience with digital transformation given the digital journey that the hospice is embarking on.

This is a rewarding voluntary role for an experienced healthcare leader who is passionate about improving patient care.

Digital Transformation Trustee: We are seeking an experienced digital, IT or AI leader to help shape the future of hospice care in an increasingly digital world. You will provide strategic insight and oversight across digital innovation, cybersecurity and emerging technologies. You will also support and challenge our leadership teams to ensure technology is used ethically, safely and effectively to enhance patient care, strengthen organisational resilience and manage opportunities and risks in AI and emerging technologies.

What we are looking for

For the Clinical Trustee role, we are seeking someone who can offer:

· A senior clinician, with a strong background in clinical practice and leadership.

· A strong understanding of patient safety and quality improvement.

· A collaborative approach and alignment with Birmingham Hospice’s mission and values.

· Awareness of the national healthcare landscape and emerging challenges facing the sector.

· It would be desirable for experience with digital transformation given the digital journey that the hospice is embarking on (this is not essential)

For the Digital Transformation Trustee role, we are seeking someone who can offer:

· Senior digital or IT leadership experience, ideally at board or executive level.

· Expertise in AI, digital transformation or emerging technologies.

· A strong understanding of cybersecurity, data protection and cyber governance.

· The ability to translate complex technology issues for non-technical audiences.

· Experience of digital risk, compliance or regulatory frameworks.

· A collaborative and strategic approach, aligned with our values and mission.

Will you share your counselling or psychotherapy skills as a counsellor or therapist to join an online counselling service for patients and families affected by a chronic pain condition (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome)?

We're looking for 3 qualified counsellors, psychotherapists or psychologists volunteers ideally with some experience of working with chronic pain patients or lived experience of chronic illness, who may want to volunteer their skills supporting our adult service users (aged 18 & over) and help us to continue developing a mental health support service. 

As a Volunteer Counsellor/Therapist you’ll be providing remote counselling/therapy support services to adults aged 18 and over many of whom are isolated and in need of mental health services. You’ll be providing one-to-one counselling/therapy sessions online via Zoom or by phone. With your recognised counselling qualifications and experience you will be an asset to our small charity and to our services users.  

Depending on your qualifications, skills and experience, our volunteer counsellors / therapists provide person centred counselling (general talking counselling) or integrative counselling, or specialist services such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), ACT, CFT and EMDR for CRPS patients, or their families & close relatives.

People will be referred both by health or legal professionals as well as having patients and carers themselves referring into to the service.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your counselling and therapy skills, organisation, communication and team working skills.

Most importantly you’ll be providing essential services that help make sure no one has to face CRPS alone. Be the hope for CRPS.

What the role involves

This role may vary depending on needs, but is likely to include:

• Undertake client assessments following triage by Clinical Lead, followed by counselling / therapy (via Zoom or phone) to our clients, offering up to 20 sessions for each client plus a check in and 4 psychometric assessments

• Providing one-to-one counselling sessions to clients aged 18 & over

• Update our database with the client’s information, sessional notes and session attendance

• Maintain succinct, relevant session notes and store these confidentially and securely in acccordahce with GDPR

• Attending and participating in monthly group supervision support of 1.5 hours a month

• Attend CPD training to ensure your knowledge stays current

• Participating in volunteer meetings
• Maintaining client confidentiality, upholding data protection and equal opportunities principles

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, including a full induction. You will have a chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us. We can offer you a supervisor as well as expenses for annual insurance and an external supervisor if required.

What you need for this role

Essential

• Be a member (including student membership) of one of the recognised membership organisations (see below)
• Level 4 Diploma level qualifications as a minimum (unfortunately no students at this time), Degree or Masters in Counselling, Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, EMDR 
• Minimum of 100 hours supervised
• Proof of professional indemnity insurance annually - we may consider paying this as an expense but commitment to the charity is required
• A valid DBS certificate (enhanced version), which is less than three years old and renewed every three years (the charity can provide where necessary)
• Able to keep people’s personal data safe

• Willing and able to provide counselling via Zoom from a private location with a stable WiFi connection

• Able to support a minimum of 3 clients a week, being three hours of your time for therapy sessions plus time for administration and attending group supervision for 1.5 hours a month. We ideally hope you to offer the charity a minimum commitment of six months.

• Knowledge of chronic pain or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
• Previous experience as a chronic pain or CRPS counsellor or psychologist

Making a difference

What impact will the opportunity have?

You will join the charity during a critical and challenging period where referrals are on the rise and your expert knowledge and experience will be invaluable to our success. You will have a key role in not only developing a counselling service for our clients but also ensure we provide counselling services and mental health support to our CRPS patients & their families who are in need of our support and inclusion on a regular basis. With your help we will expand our support and mental health services to ensure our service users receive mental health support that they may not have been offered.

You would be a part of our small, friendly, forward-thinking charity team, focused on reaching people affected by this rare, painful and debilitating chronic pain condition and to provide them with psychological support whether they are patients, their partner, relatives, friends or carers. As this service is rapidly expanding, you would have a key role in developing our counselling and psychotherapy programme and to complement our support services that we offer. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to make a real difference in our clients' life which is already isolated and painful, who may not have received any psychological support.

The Ramblers are Britain's biggest and most vibrant walking community. The Area Secretary is a key member of the Sussex leadership team, working with the Chair to ensure the team runs smoothly including managing meeting logistics and communicating with Groups in the Area.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Working with the Area Chair to arrange quarterly leadership team meetings, including producing agendas and booking the venue
• Organising the Area AGM, and producing the Annual Report

Running an efficient Sussex Area Ramblers leadership team is critical to the effectiveness of our organisation, and is part of the overall Ramblers governance. The Area Secretary is a pivotal position on the leadership team and ensures that we meet our obligations efficiently and effectively .

The ideal candidate is likely to have a passion for walking and the outdoors and a familiarity with the activities of the Ramblers and of the Sussex Area. The position is suitable for someone who is highly reliable, capable of taking initiative and with a track record of getting things done. You will need to be well-organised, good at building relationships with other members of the leadership team including the Chair, have fluent writing skills and be confident in producing agendas and decision records. You should be computer-literate and preferably have experience of using audio-visual meeting support equipment and desktop publishing software.

Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil C.I.C. is a survivor-led podcast, YouTube channel, and healing membership organisation. We provide a platform for survivors and whistleblowers to share lived experiences, expose systemic issues, and promote solutions rooted in culturally trauma-informed care.

Our membership supports young people and survivors through healing, education, and digital skills development. Job Purpose

To design and build the digital management systems that will serve as the operational backbone of the IFA Retreat, enabling effective management of procurement, inventory, staffing, suppliers, budgets, projects, maintenance, and reporting through a centralised platform.

About the Role

As a Volunteer Business Systems Developer, you will design and implement the retreat's management infrastructure using platforms such as Airtable, Notion, ClickUp, Monday, Odoo, or similar database solutions.

Working alongside the Operations and Procurement Consultants, you will translate operational requirements into practical digital systems that support the retreat from development through to full operation.

Duties of the role include the following:

(Note - Not all the tasks apply to every shop and will be dependent on which shop; type of tasks required for that area and your level of experience)

• Customer service
• Operating till & cash handling
• Signing customers up to Gift Aid scheme & inputting gift aid data if required
• Preparing donated goods for sale
• Ensuring recyclable goods are put in appropriate place
• Pricing as outlined by the shop manager
• Display and merchandising (may include transferring items from one display to another)

• Sorting donated goods (this may include lifting or moving moderately heavy items such as sacks of donated clothes or boxes containing books in some areas)
• Light cleaning duties and using an iron or steamer to press donated clothes

At Business Launchpad (BLP) and Tooting Works (TW), we are recruiting up to four new Trustees to join our Board and support the next phase of our organisational growth and impact.

Business Launchpad is an award-winning youth enterprise charity that supports young people aged 18–30 to start businesses, access employment opportunities, and develop the confidence and skills needed to achieve long-term financial stability. We offer support through enterprise and employability programmes, one-to-one mentoring, coaching, and workspaces, ensuring they have the opportunity to unlock their potential and thrive.

Tooting Works is our social enterprise business centre in Tooting, South London. By providing a range of office units, community spaces, coworking desks at below-market rates, the income generated through Tooting Works directly supports the charitable mission of Business Launchpad. This ensures our unique charity-social enterprise model is sustainable combining social impact with commercial enterprise.

As we continue to strengthen our governance, scale our impact, and deliver our 2025–2028 strategic ambitions, we are looking for passionate and committed individuals who can bring expertise, insight, and constructive challenge to our Board.

We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Finance, audit, or investment
• Property, facilities, or capital projects
• Legal and governance
• Fundraising and income generation
• Digital transformation, technology, or AI

What to Expect

Trustees play a vital role in ensuring the organisation remains mission-led, financially sustainable, and strategically ambitious. Trustees provide governance, oversight, and support to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, while also acting as ambassadors for the organisation.

The Board typically meets quarterly in South London, with some additional committee meetings and occasional strategy sessions or events throughout the year. Hybrid attendance options are available.

These voluntary roles are unremunerated; however, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Eligibility:

You cannot be a trustee if…

•  You are under 18 years of age.
• Have been convicted at any time of any offence involving deception or dishonesty, unless this conviction is legally regarded as spent.
• Are an un-discharged bankrupt.
• Have made compositions with your creditors and have not been discharged.
• Have at any time been removed by the Commissioners or by the course in England, Wales, or Scotland from being a trustee because of misconduct.
• Are disqualified from being a company director.
• Have failed to make payments under the county court administrator’s orders.

Time commitment

Board meetings are usually held in Manchester during the day, although virtual attendance can be accommodated where required. Sub-committee meetings are generally held virtually in the evening.

Reasonable expenses incurred to facilitate attendance at meetings will be reimbursed.
