JOB PURPOSE:

To support the accuracy and integrity of financial data by maintaining reliable donation records and assisting with financial reporting. The Volunteer Finance Data Associate ensures all financial information entered into the accounting system is complete, consistent, and correctly recorded, enabling accurate reporting and effective financial oversight across the CIC.

The Volunteer Finance Data Associate focuses on data accuracy, donation records, and financial reporting support. The role ensures that all financial information entering the accounting system is complete, consistent, and reliable, supporting high-quality reporting and sound financial oversight across the CIC.

Experience Qualification and Requirements

Essential Technical Competencies

• Completed a qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline OR equivalent practical experience.
• Comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, and structured financial data.
• Basic understanding of accounting or finance systems and how financial data flows between them.
• Familiarity with accounting software or a strong willingness and ability to learn new systems quickly.
• High attention to detail with strong logical and analytical thinking skills.
• Process-driven approach with the ability to follow data standards consistently.
• Strong sense of ethics, confidentiality, and responsibility when handling financial and donor information.

Desirable Competencies

• Experience supporting finance or data processes within non-profit, CIC, or purpose-led organisations.
• Exposure to donation tracking, income reporting, or reconciliation activities.
• Experience working with shared digital systems or multi-stakeholder data environments.
• Familiarity with internal reporting, summaries, or basic dashboards.

Qualifications

• Formal qualifications: Not strictly required.
• Education background: Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or related fields desirable.
• Professional experience: Equivalent voluntary or practical experience accepted and valued.
• Data protection or finance governance training: Required once in post (training can be provided).

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date donation and financial data across finance and reporting systems.
• Support regular data checks between payment platforms, CRM systems, and accounting software to ensure consistency.
• Assist with generating basic donation, income, and trend reports for internal use.
• Identify missing data, inconsistencies, duplicate entries, or anomalies and report them clearly to the Lead Financial Accountant.
• Support the preparation of internal finance dashboards, summaries, and structured data outputs.
• Maintain organised and well-structured digital records in line with CIC data governance and documentation standards.
• Follow established processes for data entry, validation, and version control.
• Work under the guidance of the Lead Financial Accountant to improve data quality and reporting accuracy.
• Handle all financial data with confidentiality, care, and ethical responsibility.

You must:

• Be aligned with the CIC’s mission, values, and ethical, anti-capitalist stance.
• Be willing to commit at a founding level during the unpaid build phase of the organisation.
• Be comfortable working with evolving or incomplete financial and data systems and helping to build structure, clarity, and reliable processes.
• Be able to work responsibly with sensitive financial, donor, and operational data.
• Be comfortable collaborating across multiple teams, including Finance, Operations, Fundraising, and Leadership.
• Be able to follow defined guidance, policies, and data controls while applying sound judgement where systems are still developing.

You should bring experience in some of the following:

• Supporting finance, accounting, or data processes within small organisations or teams.
• Donation tracking, income data management, or financial record maintenance.
• Working with accounting software, spreadsheets, or structured digital finance systems.
• Data checking, reconciliation support, or preparation of basic internal reports and summaries.
• Maintaining accurate, well-structured records in low-resource or volunteer-led environments.
• Working with limited budgets in non-profit, CIC, or purpose-led settings.

Formal qualifications are not strictly required, but relevant education is desirable.
Essential equivalent practical or voluntary experience is mandatory.

Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil CIC is a grassroots movement committed to confronting and eradicating Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) across the UK. We give survivors, families, and allies the power to speak out, heal and educate communities through storytelling, outreach, and collective action. Purpose of the Safeguarding Officer Role

The Safeguarding Officer is responsible for designing, implementing, and protecting the safeguarding framework that allows the CIC to operate safely, ethically, and lawfully at scale.

This role ensures:

• Survivors are protected, not re-exposed

• Volunteers are supported, not exploited

• Risks are identified early, not ignored

• Safeguarding is embedded into every system, not bolted on

About the role:

To design and uphold safeguarding systems that protect survivors, volunteers and the organisation, ensuring safety, ethics and legal compliance are built into every practice as the CIC grows. Safeguarding is the infrastructure that allows the work to "SAFELY" exist at all.

Experience Qualification and Requirements

Experience in safeguarding within:

 Charity; Statutory services; Education; Health; Grassroots or community settings

• Experience working with vulnerable adults and/or children.

• Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice.

• Ability to respond to disclosures calmly and appropriately.

• Experience writing and implementing safeguarding policies.

• Risk assessment and incident management experience.

• Understanding of UK safeguarding legislation and guidance.

• Confidence challenging unsafe practice at any level.

• Ability to balance care with boundaries.

• Strong judgement under pressure.

• Clear written documentation skills.

• Capacity to work unpaid and full-time during build phase.

• Emotional regulation and professional restraint.

• Integrity, steadiness and clarity.

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties

• Design, implement, and maintain a safeguarding framework that protects survivors, volunteers, members and the organisation.

• Develop and own safeguarding policies, procedures and reporting pathways covering:

  •  Adults and children at risk
  • Volunteers and peer supporters
  • Digital spaces, storytelling, and online engagement
  • Ensure safeguarding is embedded into:
    • Recruitment and onboarding
    • Training and supervision
    • Programme design and delivery
    • Digital systems and data handling

• Establish clear risk assessment processes for activities, campaigns, and content.

• Act as the safeguarding lead for concerns, disclosures, and incidents, ensuring:

  • Timely, appropriate responses
  • Accurate recording
• Correct escalation to statutory agencies where required

• Build systems that prevent re-exposure, re-traumatisation, or exploitation of survivors.

• Ensure volunteers are supported, supervised and not placed in unsafe or inappropriate roles.

• Advise leadership on safeguarding risks, capacity limits and ethical boundaries.

• Deliver safeguarding guidance and training proportionate to role and risk.

• Monitor safeguarding practice across teams and intervene early where drift appears.

• Work closely with Digital, Membership, Fundraising, and Social teams to manage risk in:

  • Storytelling
  • Online engagement
  • Data use

• Maintain professional distance and emotional steadiness when handling complex situations.

• Review and update safeguarding systems as the CIC scales.

• Contribute to external accountability and transparency where appropriate.

You must:

• Be able to commit 80% dedication during the build phase

• Be comfortable working unpaid while the CIC is being built

• Be emotionally grounded and professionally boundaries

• Understand trauma without centring yourself

• Be able to hold complexity without collapsing into control or avoidance

You should have experience in some of the following:

• Safeguarding (statutory, charity, education, health, or grassroots)

• Working with vulnerable adults and/or children

• Trauma-informed practice

• Policy development and implementation

• Risk assessment and incident management

Formal qualifications are welcome but not essential - Integrity, clarity and steadiness are.

This role is not for you if:

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. Whatever your skill set, this role could be perfect for you!

What can you expect to be doing?

As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following:

• face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, attending supermarket collections and monitoring collection boxes.
• online fundraising – assisting with online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised.
• bringing new ideas! We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life.
• engaging with your local branch and Fundraising Hub and feeling like an integral part of the team.

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

You can expect us to

• make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours
• support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection
• cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
• provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.
