Margaret Green Animal Rescue (MGAR) is Dorset’s oldest and largest animal welfare charity, with rescue and rehoming centres across Dorset and Devon. We’re dedicated to providing the highest standards of care to unwanted, abandoned, and mistreated animals — and we’re now seeking a marketing and fundraising professional to join our Board of Trustees.
As we enter an exciting phase of strategic revitalisation, your specialist knowledge will help shape the future of our charity and ensure the animals we care for receive the very best support by optimising our marketing and fundraising activity, which is essential in funding this activity.
Why We Need You
We aim to have a range of professional backgrounds on our Board to ensure a robust and rounded experience in the Board room, as well as enabling us to support the CEO and Leadership team. We are looking to find a new Trustee with expertise in the marketing and fundraising arena who will support the Board and our marketing team in the following areas:
- Strategic input as we enter a period of significant transformation for the Charity
- Provide specialist challenge and support to the CEO and fundraising team, offering informed oversight on campaigns, investment decisions, and risk, ensuring the Board can govern income generation with confidence.
- Strengthen MGAR’s long‑term financial resilience by guiding the development of diverse, sustainable income streams and ensuring fundraising decisions are strategic, evidence‑based, and aligned with organisational priorities.
- Elevate MGAR’s public profile through sharper messaging, stronger brand visibility, and more impactful storytelling that deepens public understanding of the charity’s mission and increases supporter engagement.
- Grow and nurture MGAR’s supporter community by ensuring we shape emotionally resonant campaigns, improve donor journeys, and help build long‑term relationships with individuals, partners, and local businesses.
- Enhance the Board’s overall capability by filling a critical skills gap, ensuring MGAR remains agile, relevant, and financially secure in a competitive and rapidly evolving charity landscape.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Attending Board meetings (6 per year, in Dorset/Devon) and occasional online sessions
- Contributing 1–2 days per month to strategic planning and oversight
- Championing best practices in marketing and fundraising
- Supporting the charity’s mission to find forever homes for animals in need

Who Should Apply
We welcome applications from marketing and fundraising professionals who share our passion for animal welfare. Living within an hour of our Wareham site is ideal, but not essential.

Liverpool Guild of Students is an independent, student-led charity dedicated to enhancing the student experience at the University of Liverpool. With 32,000 members, they are committed to creating a home for every student, ensuring each one gets the most out of university life and leaves equipped to change the world.
As they continue to strengthen their governance and long-term impact, they are seeking a committed and strategic individual to join their Board of Trustees and help guide their mission of creating an exceptional university experience for every student.
About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of students in Liverpool. As an External Trustee, you will play a key role in setting and monitoring the Guild's strategy, providing financial oversight, managing risk, and ensuring the organisation remains fit for purpose. The Board meets four times per year, with trustees also invited to sit on sub-committees covering Resources & Audit, People, Culture & EDI, and Governance & Appointments.
The Guild is keen to hear from individuals who can think strategically, critically evaluate complex issues, and contribute meaningfully to Board discussions. They are particularly interested in candidates who bring networks within Liverpool, knowledge of the Higher Education sector or Students' Unions, experience of complex multi-service organisations, or expertise in EDI best practice. First-time trustees are warmly welcomed, and the Guild is committed to building an inclusive Board with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
