Do you want to help the youth of today become the lifesavers of tomorrow? We're on a mission to teach young people across the country how to save lives. It's a chance for them to learn important first aid skills in a fun, friendly, and safe environment. 

St John is one of the largest youth organisations in the country and many of our young volunteers go onto careers in health and/or social care.

Being a youth volunteer helps young people develop skills and confidence that go on to help them with further education and university applications. To do this we need dedicated and enthusiastic youth helpers. Do you have 2 hours in an evening, once a week during school term times to join our fun loving youth team supporting and developing our young inspirational volunteers? No matter what your interests: Crafting, Singing/Dancing, History, Science or caring for people/animals, we welcome you to join us. 

Full training is provided. This is a great opportunity to develop your own skills, knowledge and build on your CV. All whilst having fun, making friends and supporting your community. 

Our Badger are children aged 5-10 years of age and the Cadets are 11 – 17

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. Cambridgeshire is made of of 5 Networks who meet in Cambridge, Huntingdon, Wittlesey, Peterborough and Soham. Cambridgeshire have historiically covered events such as Cambridge corn exchange, Cambridge United footballl Club, Huntingdon Racecourse, Newmarket Racecourse, Duxford Airshow, Great Eastern Run, Strawberry Fair, May Balls, County shows and Christmas light swicth ons.

Whilst many of the events we cover are at the weekends we do also cover mid-week events.

We will be running a number of information events locally and these are:

As part of the role, successful volunteers would need to attend a six-day training course (over three weekends), and maintain CPD by completing a minimum of 100 operational hours (as an Emergency Responder at events). Volunteers would also be expected to attend network meetings on a regular basis.

We will be running a number of information events locally and these will be shared after selection of your application.

Interviews will be held in Mid-April at our Liverpool HQ. The selection centre will include an informal conversation with some of our volunteers, double checking of details and the opportunity to have a go at some lifesaving skills.

• Welcome Event (Induction) -01st September 2026, details of times, venue to follow. Induction will be partly done during network meetings supported by a wider SJA introduction day, once screening for role is completed.

Join Canine Partners as a Speaker Volunteer! You’ll deliver fun and inspiring talks to local groups, schools, and clubs, sharing the incredible impact of our assistance dogs and the lives they change. This role offers flexibility, is deeply rewarding and perfect for confident communicators. We provide all the training, support, and materials you need to make a meaningful impact in your community.

About the opportunity

This role involves providing talks to a variety of groups, schools and organisations within your local area, raising awareness and promoting our fundraising activities.

There is no minimum commitment for this role. Times can vary, and you can choose which talks you attend. Talks primarily take place during the week, with some evenings. The length of each talk will vary depending on the group’s requirements.

You will be provided with speaker training before beginning this role. Talk requests are handled by the Canine Partners fundraising team; however, we would encourage you to secure your own talks within your local area.

• Excellent customer service skills

Hertfordshire’s Family Centre Service brings children’s centres, health visiting and school nursing together, to provide a more joined-up service for children, young people, and their families.

The centres deliver a range of support groups and activities for children and their families to help them be healthy, grow and develop. To make it easy for families to fit sessions and services around their busy lives, access is available from any Hertfordshire Family centre. We have locations across the entire county so please do enquire ensuring you have provided your postcode. 

Main Tasks/ Responsibilities/ Activities

To support Public Health Nursing teams by helping parents use baby weighing equipment in a welcoming and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Welcome parents, carers, and babies to the self-weigh session in a friendly and approachable way.

· Explain how to use the weighing equipment safely and accurately (training provided).

· Support parents to record their baby’s weight on growth charts or apps as appropriate.

· Ensure the weighing area is safe, clean, and ready for families to use.

· Provide reassurance and encouragement to parents and carers.

· Signpost any questions or concerns about a baby’s health or development to a Family Centre staff member

Skills / Abilities / Experience / Qualities

· Friendly, patient, and approachable.

· Good communication and listening skills.

· Confident in supporting parents to use simple equipment (training given).

· Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.

· Respectful and non-judgemental towards all families.
