As a Board Member, you will help guide the strategic direction of thrivin' together, ensuring we remain values-led, sustainable, and responsive to the women we serve. You will:

• Contribute to governance and strategic planning
• Support the development and sustainability of our services
• Ensure alignment with our mission and lived experience ethos
• Provide constructive challenge and oversight
• Act as an ambassador and help build partnerships 

This is a non-operational role focused on oversight, support, and direction.

We are looking for women who bring a genuine passion for women's wellbeing and social impact. Commitment to supporting those affected by gambling harm and a collaborative, thoughtful, and values-driven approach. Desirable experience:
Finance or accounting
Fundraising
HR or organisational development
Chair or governance experience
Policy, influencing, or systems change
Lived experience of gambling harm (your own or someone else's)

We are looking for someone with experience in marketing or business engagement. You will help raise our profile, strengthen our brand, and develop meaningful partnerships with businesses and corporate supporters.

Philanthropy and Relationship Building

We are looking for someone with experience in philanthropy, fundraising networks, or relationship management. You will help us connect with donors, foundations, and individuals who can support our long term impact.

Volunteer Management

We are looking for someone with experience in volunteer coordination or management. You will help us develop inclusive, safe, and supportive volunteer systems as the organisation grows.

Finance and Accounting

We are looking for a qualified finance professional, ideally a chartered accountant. You will support financial oversight, planning, reporting, and long term financial sustainability.

What you will do as a Trustee

As a Trustee, you will help guide the strategic direction of Afrocats and ensure we remain financially sustainable, well governed, and aligned with our mission. You will contribute to decision making at Board level, support risk and compliance oversight, and help ensure our work continues to centre creativity, wellbeing, and community impact.

You will also act as an ambassador for Afrocats, helping to champion our work and values across your networks and beyond.

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for overseeing broader financial management, including budgeting, financial forecasting, resource allocation and fundraising.

Key Responsibilities:

• Having oversight of all financial management across the organization and developing reports for the board
• To overall manage budgeting and financial forecasting
• To ensure that the department heads covering fundraising and finance are supported and well aligned with the strategic direction and priorities of Youth Advantage UK
• To ensure the organization has sufficient financial resources
• To ensure fundraising occurs and supports the organization's need
• To line manage departmental heads with relevant departments
• To contribute to wider C Level Executive work such as taking part in meetings, presenting the organization and dealing with problems as they arise

Requirements:

• To have over 5 years of experience in the financial sector
• To have at least 2 years of experience in a senior financial management role (such as Senior Manager or Department Head) 
• To be able to provide leadership and management
• To have good IT skills, accounting skills, budgeting skills, ability to use spreadsheets and remote systems and good communication skills

For over 30 years, we’ve led the way in child protection — preventing abuse before it happens, supporting families, influencing policy, and running the world‑leading Stop It Now helpline. Our work is challenging, essential, and life‑changing.

As several of our long‑serving trustees prepare to retire, we are seeking three exceptional individuals to join our Board and help guide the next stage of our development.
