Position Summary

Solution Community is seeking an experienced, passionate Volunteer Development/Fundraising Network Senior Recruiter to attract, engage, and onboard talented fundraising and development professionals. This strategic volunteer role will help build a strong network of fundraising leaders, donor engagement specialists, grant professionals, and development experts who can contribute to the organization's long-term sustainability and impact.

The ideal candidate is an experienced recruiter with expertise in sourcing and recruiting talent within nonprofit development, philanthropy, fundraising, donor relations, corporate partnerships, or advancement functions.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Recruitment

• Develop and implement recruitment strategies to identify and attract fundraising and development professionals.
• Source, screen, interview, and assess candidates for volunteer and leadership opportunities within the fundraising network.
• Build and maintain talent pipelines across philanthropy, nonprofit development, donor relations, grants management, and corporate social responsibility sectors.
• Partner with organizational leaders to understand current and future fundraising talent needs.
• Ensure a positive and engaging candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.

Network Development & Community Building

• Expand and strengthen a diverse network of fundraising professionals, grant writers, development officers, donor relationship managers, and fundraising consultants.
• Establish relationships with professional associations, nonprofit networks, universities, and community organizations.
• Promote volunteer opportunities through networking, social media, and professional platforms.
• Help create a sustainable pipeline of fundraising talent and volunteer leaders.

Strategic Support

• Collaborate with fundraising and leadership teams to identify priority recruitment needs.
• Assist in recruiting volunteers for fundraising campaigns, grant initiatives, donor outreach, and partnership development efforts.
• Provide market insights and recommendations on best practices for recruiting development and fundraising talent.
• Support diversity and inclusion efforts within volunteer recruitment initiatives.

Process Improvement & Reporting

• Maintain candidate records and recruitment tracking through Dover, our applicant tracking system (ATS).
• Monitor recruitment metrics and provide updates on pipeline activities.
• Recommend innovative sourcing techniques and engagement strategies.
• Support continuous improvement of volunteer recruitment processes.

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, executive search, or volunteer recruitment.
• Experience recruiting for fundraising, nonprofit development, donor relations, philanthropy, partnerships, or advancement functions.
• Strong sourcing, interviewing, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a remote and collaborative environment.
• Passion for nonprofit, community impact, and mission-driven work.

Preferred

• Experience working with nonprofit organizations, charities, foundations, or social impact initiatives.
• Familiarity with fundraising functions including donor stewardship, grant development, major gifts, and corporate partnerships.
• Existing network within the nonprofit, philanthropy, or fundraising community.
• Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter, Dover (ATS), or volunteer management platforms.
• Background recruiting senior-level or executive volunteers is a plus.

Your expert understanding of charity and/or company accounts and financial management will ensure that trustees exercise their financial responsibilities. You will act as lead trustee on overseeing the annual audit, and advise on financial procedures, regular financial reporting and forecasting.

This will involve chairing the Trust’s Audit Committee, which meets once a year to receive draft charity accounts and audit reports for The Abbotsford Trust and its subsidiary Abbotsford Trading Company. The Committee is responsible for recommending accounts for approval to the Board of Directors, and for making recommendations on the appointment of auditors.

You will exercise oversight of the Trust’s financial management throughout the year through membership of the Executive Committee, which meets up to 10 times a year to receive financial reports from management. Trading Company management accounts are the responsibility of a separate Trading Company Board.

This role will suit someone with professional accountancy qualifications and experience of audited accounts. Ideally, but not necessarily, you will have experience of charity accounts.

About Roots Academy

At Roots Academy, we’ve built a learning experience that’s changing the lives of the ummah’s future leaders, change-makers and visionaries.

Our vision is enabling university students to live God-centred lives, so we teach structured, engaging and transformative face-to-face foundational Islamic education to over 1,800 students across the UK.

Role Summary

As the Fundraising Coordinator, you will be responsible for helping create and implementing strategies to fundraise from both existing and new sources (individuals, mosques, grants etc.) with the aim of securing the long-term financial stability of Roots Academy.

Key tasks

Fundraising Planning:

• Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve income goals.
• Identify potential new funding sources and opportunities for income generation.

Campaign Management:

• Plan and oversee fundraising campaigns and events, including direct appeals, online campaigns, and fundraising events at mosques.
• Coordinate with marketing and communications teams to develop compelling fundraising material.

Proposal Development:

• Research trusts, foundations and corporations for grant opportunities.
• Work with the team to develop proposals, supporting with grant writing when needed.

Budget Oversight:

• Work closely with the finance team to monitor fundraising budgets, expenditure, and financial projections.

Donor Relations:

• Support with Donor Communications in activities related to donor relationship management and stewardship.

What we’re looking for

• Experience in organising fundraising campaigns and events, including digital fundraising strategies
• Strong understanding of fundraising principles and techniques, including donor cultivation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate the organisation’s mission and impact to diverse audiences
• Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective fundraising plans
• Strong understanding of Islam and the Muslim Community

Stores & Equipment Manager

Challenge Adventure Group (“CAG” for short and the operating name of CAG Trust) is a voluntary youth organisation for Knowle, Dorridge and beyond aimed at boys aged 10 and above.

As our name suggests, we provide challenging, adventurous and fun activities and the D of E Award for young people in their leisure time. Taking part in fun experiential activities enables members to develop their physical and mental skills and capacities and reach their full potential of becoming positive, active and happy citizens.

Summary

CAG was formed in 2009 and became a charity, CAG Trust, in 2019.  You will be in charge of CAG’s kit which is kept at various locations, most of which is at the base in Bickenhill.  You will be responsible for advising,  sourcing, acquisition and logging of new kit and supplies and will ensure that it is in an excellent condition to be used for our trips and activities. A key responsibility of the Stores & Equipment Manager is to keep track of all inventory: signing it out for trips / activities and then back in when it is returned.  You will also determine how quickly supplies are being used, and when they may need to be replenished. You will also be responsible for ensuring the kit is repaired and is continually available for use. It is up to the quartermaster to understand what the situation may be and know when inventory is likely to be depleted based on any particular set of circumstances. 

Description

Responsibilities:

• Carry out an annual audit of the kit and liaise with the Treasurer and Secretary to ensure that the insurance is up to date.

• Research and advise the committee and leaders on options for new kit / kit replacement.

• Plan the replacement of old kit acquisition of new kit.

• Keep the storeroom secured, organised and in good order by ensuring everything is in the right place.

• Log out any items and keep track of who has them and where.

• Log in any items after they have been used and check them over for damage / wear and tear.

• Buy supplies to mend any broken items.

• Replace any items that are beyond repair.

• Ensure members / leaders to return kit once they have finished with it and it is returned in good order.

• Ensure that any lost / damaged kit is invoiced out to the member / leader.

• Coordinate kit availability with trip plans and funding / grants.

• Visit offsite venues to check kit stored elsewhere.

• Communicate frequently with the Group Leader and CAG Management Committee to keep them up to date.

We are looking for a volunteer who ideally should have / be:

• Commitment to CAG and its ethos.

• Organised and tidy.

• Self-motivated, proactive and good at managing your own time.

• The ability to build and maintain relationships. 

• Drive and enthusiasm to carry out projects to conclusion. 

• The ability to work as part of a team.

• A willingness to carry out a range of administrative tasks. 

• Excellent budgeting skills.

• Good at practical tasks like mending broken tents and other kit.

• A car driver or have ability to travel to attend events and meetings.

• The post holder must be able to provide a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check.

Making a difference - what impact will the opportunity have?

Your input is key to the day to day running of CAG as well as securing its future.  You will have a big impact because this role is essential to ensuring that CAG retains and maintains its kit in a tidy and usable order ready to be used for our trips and activities.

Where will the volunteer be working?

The volunteer can partially work from home and will also be required to attend weekly Tuesday night club meetings at Bickenhill to run the store room.

The candidate should also be available for face to face Committee and other meetings.

• Weekly Tuesday evening club nights.

• You would need to be available to attend Committee meetings which normally take place in the evening.

• Very occasional weekends and evenings to attend events.
