The difference you will make to cats and people

 Every penny counts when it comes to improving the lives of the thousands of cats and kittens across the UK that need our help each year. Our collection box fundraising volunteers help our volunteer groups raise vital funds by collecting and distributing collection boxes in their local area. Making a difference can mean as little as raising 20p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day, to £150 which is the average cost of a cat in our care.

 What we need from you

You’ll be:

· overseeing the collection and delivery of collection boxes in different locations

· recording donations and thanking local businesses and supporters

· researching local areas for collection box ‘hot spots’

· sharing fundraising ideas with other volunteers and putting these into practice 

· sharing your passion for cat welfare and promoting the work of Cats Protection

Time expectation

Our collection box fundraising volunteers usually spend 1 to 2 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Join our Client Services Governance Committee as a co-opted member

At Crisis we are privileged to support people out of homelessness and campaign for the changes needed to solve it altogether, whether through direct services or our leading-edge research and influencing work in England, Scotland, and Wales.

As we embark on the delivery of our new 10-year strategy, we are looking for a new co-opted member that can and add to the skills of a high-performing sub-committee of our Board of Trustees.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise; by providing strategic insight and guidance on the safe, inclusive, equitable and impactful services we provide our members to help them out of homelessness.

We are looking for people that:

· Care deeply about improving systems and services and ending homelessness

· Have skills and experience in service delivery and/or service design

· Communicate clearly and can work well with others — including trustees, staff and members

Formal appointment will then be made by the Crisis Board in July with the first Committee meeting in August 2026.

About Us

Crisis is here to end homelessness for good. Over the next ten years, our aim is to:

1. We’ll campaign across England, Scotland, and Wales to push for the policies needed to end homelessness. We’ll also challenge unfair treatment and harmful stereotypes about people who are homeless.

2. We’ll open a network of Crisis Centres across the UK. Each Centre will offer high‑quality support to people who need it and create a plan to end homelessness in the local area. We’ll also provide more than 1,000 homes for our members by launching a new housing company that shows how giving people a stable home first can end homelessness.

3. We’ll bring people from all over Britain together to help—landlords, employers, teachers, healthcare workers, and anyone else who wants to make a difference. Everyone has a role to play in ending homelessness

About the Client Services Governance Committee:

· The committee is made up of 3x Trustees and an Expert by Experience who has previous lived experience of homelessness; there is currently no member involvement on the committee

· Makes sure Crisis’ services are delivered safely, professionally, and to a high standard, and giving the Board confidence that this is happening.

· Oversees safeguarding across all Client Services, and helping to build a culture where safety, awareness, and the wellbeing of everyone who comes into contact with Crisis, are top priorities.

· Provides a space to review and challenge how Client Services are governed — including how incidents and complaints are handled.

About the Role of co-opted member:

• Reporting to: Chair of Committee 
• Term: 3 years, with potential for re-appointment for a second term
• Commitment: Attending and actively taking part in the Client Services Governance Committee meetings — usually five times a year and typically held online.
• Remuneration: Reimbursement of travel, childcare and other agreed costs (although co-optee roles are voluntary and generally unpaid)

Purpose of the role:

· To work collaboratively with trustees, senior leadership and Experts by Experience to strengthen the impact of Crisis services

· To help guide the big decisions about member services and ensuring members have safe, positive experiences — keeping Crisis focused on its mission to end homelessness.

· To support the committee in understanding how well Crisis’ services are working and helping to make sure standards and legal requirements are consistently met.

· To review reports about risks, complaints, incidents, and safeguarding issues that affect members.

· To oversee the delivery of impactful and effective tenancy support for Crisis’ new work in housing supply and the development of Crisis Centres.

· To offer insight into what good member support looks like, sharing perspectives on member experiences, and highlighting best practice to inform decisions.

Person Specification:

· Experience in design and best practice in delivery of services to disadvantaged groups

· Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with trustees, staff, and external stakeholders

· Someone who can take part in respectful discussions, ask thoughtful questions and help us make balanced decisions as part of a team

· A commitment to get to know Crisis, including our mission, values and aims, prepare for and attend meetings, engage and contribute

· Awareness of charity governance or a willingness to learn more

Norfolk Tennis is the county governing body for tennis and padel in Norfolk and a volunteer-led Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Charity No. 1203480). We work in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association to support clubs, venues, coaches and players across the county, helping more people enjoy the physical, social and community benefits of tennis and padel. Our work aligns with the LTA’s “Tennis Opened Up” strategy, which aims to make the sport accessible, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. Norfolk Tennis is governed by a Board of Trustees supported by a volunteer Management Committee representing clubs, venues and key development areas across the county. As tennis and padel continue to grow, Norfolk Tennis is seeking individuals to join its Board of Trustees and contribute strategic leadership to the development of tennis and padel across the county.

About the Trustee Role
Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Norfolk Tennis is well governed, financially sustainable and strategically focused. Working collaboratively with fellow Trustees and the Management Committee, Trustees help ensure the organisation operates effectively as a charity while delivering meaningful impact for tennis and padel across the county.

Trustees are responsible for:

• Supporting the strategic direction of Norfolk Tennis
• Ensuring strong governance, accountability and compliance
• Providing independent professional expertise and oversight
• Acting in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries
• Helping ensure resources are used effectively to support tennis development

Trustees attend periodic Trustee meetings (typically online) and may attend Management Committee meetings where helpful to maintain alignment between governance and operational delivery.

Governance & Charity Law Trustee
To support strong governance and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, Norfolk Tennis is seeking a volunteer trustee with expertise in charity law.

This role focuses on providing guidance on legal responsibilities, governance best practice and risk management to support the organisation’s long-term stability and integrity.

Key contributions include:
• Advising the Board of Trustees on charity law, governance and regulatory requirements
• Supporting compliance with Charity Commission guidance and best practice
• Reviewing governing documents and supporting any required updates
• Providing input on policies, risk management and decision-making processes
• Ensuring the organisation operates within its legal and charitable objectives
• Offering guidance on contracts, partnerships and potential liabilities

This role would suit someone with experience in charity law, governance, legal advisory or regulatory compliance, ideally with an understanding of the charitable or sports sector.

Governance & Safeguarding Trustee
This role helps ensure Norfolk Tennis maintains the highest standards of governance, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.

Working alongside the County Safeguarding Officer and fellow trustees, this role supports the Board in maintaining robust policies, procedures and governance frameworks that reflect both charity law and LTA safeguarding expectations.

Key contributions include:

• Supporting strong governance structures and trustee responsibilities
• Providing oversight of safeguarding frameworks and best practice
• Ensuring appropriate policies and reporting processes are in place
• Advising on governance matters including risk management and compliance
• Promoting a culture of safe, responsible and ethical sport across the county

This role would suit someone with experience in governance, safeguarding, compliance, law or risk management.

Inclusion & Disability Trustee
Norfolk Tennis is committed to ensuring tennis and padel are open and accessible to all communities.

The Inclusion & Disability Trustee helps champion equality, diversity and accessibility across the county, supporting initiatives that widen participation and remove barriers to involvement.

The role includes:

• Supporting Norfolk Tennis in embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) principles
• Championing inclusive participation for disabled players and under-represented groups
• Advising on inclusive programme development and community engagement
• Supporting initiatives linked to the LTA’s Open Court disability tennis programme
• Helping identify partnerships with organisations supporting inclusive sport

This role would suit someone with experience in EDI leadership, disability sport, community engagement, education or inclusion policy.

Who We Are Looking For
We welcome applicants who bring professional expertise, leadership experience and an interest in supporting community sport.

Experience in tennis is not essential.

We particularly welcome individuals with backgrounds in:

• finance, accounting or investment
• governance, compliance or safeguarding

• commercial partnerships or business development

Most importantly, we are looking for people who bring sound judgement, integrity, collaborative working and a commitment to supporting tennis across Norfolk.

Time Commitment
The role is designed to fit alongside professional and personal commitments.

Typical involvement includes:

• periodic Trustee meetings (normally online/Zoom)
• monthly (or every 5-6 weeks) Management Committee meetings (normally online/Zoom)
• periodic engagement on strategic matters within your area of expertise

Trustee Responsibilities :

The Board as a whole is collectively responsible for the success of the charity. A Trustee is a Board Member and has a number of responsibilities in order to ensure robust management of the charity including:

• Make decisions objectively in the interests of the charity.
• Implement Hopian’s Vision, Mission, and Values.
• Lead on the aims and objectives of Hopian by raising awareness of domestic and sexual abuse, and child sexual exploitation and abuse and its impact on individuals and their families.

Trustee Duties :

• Ensuring that the organisation pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy.
• Ensuring that the organisation complies with its governing document (i.e. constitution or memorandum and articles of association), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
• Ensuring that the organisation applies its resources in pursuance of its charitable objects (i.e., the charity must not spend money on activities that are not included in its own objects) .
• Ensuring that the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets.
• Safeguarding the good name and values of the organisation.
• Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place.
• Ensuring the financial stability of the organisation.
• Protecting and managing the property of the charity and ensuring the proper investment of the charity’s funds.
• To work in the interests of the charity and not for personal gain.
• To ensure that the Board Members takes proper professional advice on matters in which it does not have competence.

• To work with other Board Members to form an effective governing body for the charity.

• Provide opportunity for staff to meet with the board.

Our fundraising events organisers have the exciting and varied role of helping plan and deliver local fundraising events to raise the vital funds needed to help cats. Our fundraising events organisers use their passion for cats and people to plan cake sales, barn dances, quiz nights and everything in between.

You’ll be:

· planning fundraising events and activities like cake sales, quiz nights and barn dances

· providing the treasurer with information on funds raised from fundraising events

· encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 

· following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

Time expectation

Our fundraising events organisers usually spend two to three hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer.

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example:

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 
• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations
• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press
• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
• championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection
• You’ll need to be aged 18+ to volunteer in this role. If you’re aged 16-17, you’ll need to be supervised by a friend, family member, or guardian over the age of 18 in order to carry out any fundraising activity.

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.
