As we expand our reach, we’re looking for a new Treasurer to guide our financial health and governance as a key member of our board of eight trustees. The Role
As Treasurer, you’ll provide strategic oversight and financial stewardship to ensure our small but growing organisation stays resilient and impactful. You’ll work closely with our Director, Chair, and Admin & Finance Officer, supporting everything from budget setting to risk management and audit preparation. You’ll also play a key role in demystifying financial matters for our Board
Core Responsibilities
- Monitor and report on the charity’s financial health
- Oversee internal accounts, annual statements, and financial controls
- Help develop financial policies on reserves, budgeting, and risk.
- Advise on financial implications of strategic plans
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors
- Support board learning and decision-making with accessible financial insight
- Work collaboratively on systems like Xero
Who We’re Looking For
- We’re after a finance professional (active or recently retired) with:
- Commercial or SME finance experience (charity finance a bonus)
- Strategic thinking and risk management skills
- An ability to communicate financial info clearly to non-specialists
- A willingness to be hands-on and collaborative.
Your Commitment
Estimated time: 4–6 hours/month including:
- Board meetings: every 8 weeks (currently first Wed of the month, held in the Dusty Forge community centre, Ely)
- Monthly check-ins with the Director (remote possible)
- 1–2 half day away days per year with the board

1. WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
Release Therapy for Women provides safe, therapeutic spaces for women across Sussex. Our groups are the heart of what we do, and our Therapeutic Group Support Assistants play a crucial role in ensuring these sessions run smoothly.
You will work alongside a Lead Facilitator to create a warm, inclusive, and physically comfortable environment.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Creating a Welcoming Space
* Environment Setup: Arrive early to set up the therapeutic space, ensuring it is tidy, welcoming, and comfortable.
* Sensory Awareness: Pay attention to lighting, noise levels, and seating arrangements to support our neurodivergent participants and those with social anxiety.
* The "Warm Welcome": Greet participants as they arrive, particularly focused on making new members feel at ease and helping to serve drinks.
Supporting the Session
* Facilitation Assistance: Support the Lead Facilitator with practical tasks (handing out materials, managing refreshments, or keeping time).
* Participant Support: Provide a calm, grounded presence. While you are not the primary therapist, you may offer one-to-one emotional support (e.g., sitting with someone who needs a moment outside the circle).
* Closing the Space: Assist in packing away and briefly debriefing with the Facilitator after participants have left.

Knowledge and Experience
* Counselling Foundation: You have previous counselling experience or have undertaken introductory counselling training.
* Therapeutic Understanding: An understanding of (or a strong interest in) the group therapeutic process and the importance of boundaries and confidentiality.

Skills and Abilities

Pedal Away is a community-based cycling scheme that enables people to ride, regardless of their age, ability or cycling experience. We have Pedal Away Cycle Hubs at a limited number of locations which will allow you to realise your passion for all things two-wheels. Our Pedal Away rides are pitched at a level so that anyone can join in no matter how long it's been since you were last on a two-wheeled bike. This is what happens when you join the Friends of Chelsea & Westminster Hospital as a volunteer.
Chelsea & Westminster Hospital on Fulham Road is known as one of the best hospitals in London and across the UK as a whole. One reason for this is its focus on patient and staff wellbeing. If you have been a patient at Chelsea & Westminster, you will surely have noticed the staff’s professional work ethic and determination to deliver the best care.
One way to “give back” to the incredible staff is to join our charity the Friends of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital as a volunteer.
The medical staff are often so busy that if they have not brought lunch with them, they have very little time to leave the ward to buy food. Since November 2022 the Friends of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital has successfully operated a Lunch Trolley service for hospital staff, in partnership with B Bagel Fulham Road. The service operates five days a week (Monday-Friday) from 10:30 to 13:30/14:00 and allows busy staff (and some patients) to purchase bagels, salads, cakes and drinks without leaving their departments.
In our first year of operation, thanks to our hard-working volunteers we raised around £9,000 to support the work of the Friends charity in the hospital.
We are now looking for two additional volunteers, one who can commit to a set weekly shift of around 4 hours (day to be discussed) and one who can fill in occasionally when one of our permanent volunteers is away. You will be joining a small, friendly team providing a really valuable and popular service to our hard-working hospital staff.
Role description
● Collect the day’s order of bagels and salads from B Bagel (opposite the hospital) by 10:30/10:45
● Collect the trolley from the Friends storeroom (lower ground floor) and stock it with the bagels/salads/cakes plus additional items from the stock list
● Volunteers have a dedicated route to follow each day, so Monday’s first stop is not always the first served on the other days
● When entering a ward/department, make yourself known to the nurse's desk and place the trolley in a safe position that does not obstruct the movement of staff or patients
● Take payment via contactless card machine only (your only battle will be with the dedicated WIFI but we usually manage.)
● At the end of the run, return trolley to the Friends store room (lower ground floor)
● Do stock check
● Remove and dispose of all perishable items from the trolley
● Return carrier box to B Bagel with the order for the next day

Full training will be provided. Volunteers report to the Friends Charity Manager, but are also required to comply with all requirements of the hospital’s own volunteering department, including undergoing a DBS check, Occupational Health check and core training. We will take up references on all successful applicants.
Please note that this is quite a physically demanding role and will not suit those with mobility issues or who have difficulty moving and handling heavy items.

Pets As Therapy is a national charity with a simple but powerful mission: to share the joy of pets with people who need it most. Each week, more than 6,000 volunteers and their pets visit schools, hospitals, hospices, care homes and community settings across the UK.
What will you be doing?
Responsibilities of the Chair:
- Provide strategic leadership to the charity and the Board, ensuring that PAT achieves its mission.
- Work in partnership with the CEO and Executive team to achieve its mission.
- Lead the Board in ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation.
- Optimise the relationship between the Board and PAT’s staff and volunteers.
- Plan and chair the Board meetings and the AGM, with others as appropriate.
- Act as an ambassador and spokesperson for PAT.
The Chair provides oversight and guidance while also carrying out the general responsibilities of a Trustee.
Time Commitment:
- Estimated at one to two days per month.
- The Board meets formally at least four times a year for between a half day and a day, depending on business. Two meetings are in-person and are held in central London. Two are virtual.
- All trustees are asked to serve on one or more Board sub-committees and working groups. This adds 3-4 shorter meetings a year, for which preparation can be significant or relatively light. Trustees may be asked to chair sub committees on a rotating basis.
- Ad hoc and occasional support through working groups and / or support to the Executive team.
- Monthly scheduled conversation with the CEO with flexibility to respond to the occasional ad hoc issue.
