Trustee

Hours: Minimum commitment is attendance and preparation for four Board meetings each year (some of which will be in the daytime). Trustees are encouraged to also commit to joining one of the sub-committees or time-limited working groups.

Duration: 3-year terms up to a maximum of 9 years which may be extended subject to Board approval. 

Location: Cambridge (Board meetings usually take place in Cambridge but can be attended in person or online).

Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed, and adjustments can be made to support participation.

Centre 33 is an ambitious and growing charity based across Cambridgeshire. We offer a range of high-quality services to young people, including information and support on a “drop in” basis, mental health services, counselling, housing and financial advice, sexual health support and support for young carers.

As our Technical VR Advisor you'll act as a senior technical voice for the team, providing strategic technical guidance and sharing your experience rather than day-to-day management. Product and strategy guidance:

• Advise on hardware decisions, particularly our upcoming transition to standalone VR headsets
• Share knowledge of the VR landscape: tools, platforms, what's working in the industry to help us make smart choices with limited resources

Technical and development guidance:

• Advise on software architecture, tooling, and development practices for our Unity/C# VR application

• Experience with Unity and/or C# is a bonus but not essential - product and strategic experience in VR is equally valuable

Trustees

We are particularly interested in Trustees with experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Finance or accounting
• Fundraising and income generation
• Marketing, communications or PR
• Legal, regulatory or government
• Digital and technology

We also warmly welcome applicants with lived experience relevant to our work, who can help ensure the voices of young women remain central to our governance.

Commitment and Practicalities

• Trustees are appointed for a three-year term, renewable up to three terms
• Time commitment is approximately one day per month (Chair slightly more)
• The Board meets four times per year, in person or online
• An annual in-person Strategy Day is also held
• Reasonable expenses are reimbursed
