RSPCA Finchley, Golders Green, Hendon & District Branch
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual who can devote their time to volunteering with us as a Volunteer Coordinator, helping specifically to recruit, train and retain volunteers across the branch.
This role focuses on building and strengthening the branch’s volunteer base, enabling us to deliver vital local animal welfare services while ensuring our charity shops operate efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
- Writing and reviewing clear volunteer role descriptions in collaboration with managers and coordinators
- Advertising and publishing volunteer opportunities across appropriate platforms
- Processing and responding to incoming volunteer applications
- Matching volunteers to roles that suit their interests, availability and strengths
- Ensuring role-specific training is completed
- Supporting managers and coordinators with the induction of new volunteers
- Creating and maintaining a positive, inclusive and supportive environment for all volunteers
- Monitoring volunteer engagement and identifying ways to improve retention
- Acting as a key point of contact for volunteer-related queries & assist with management of the volunteer inbox

Commitment

Sooty, the nation’s much-loved bear and a true national treasure, has featured on RNIB’s collection boxes for over 50 years. Thanks to generous public support, these iconic boxes have raised more than £13 million in donations.
We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to join our network of Sooty Box collectors. In this flexible role, you’ll help place new boxes and collect and bank donations from Sooty Boxes in local shops, cafés and other businesses in your area. Whether you volunteer on your own, with a friend or as part of a group, you’ll be making a real difference in your community.
You can give as much or as little time as you like and fit the role around your other commitments.

Shop Volunteering Opportunities

Our shops are at the heart of local communities raising vital funds for our fight against homelessness and bad housing - and they’re powered by our volunteers!
Suggested Involvement: It’s up to you! We have volunteers who support for one hour a week and others who volunteer more. Many people volunteer for a morning or an afternoon each week, but we’ll have a chat about your availability after you’ve applied.

What can I do?
After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal chat to find the right role for you. Some roles involve a basic criminal record check being completed during recruitment. Having a criminal record does not mean that you cannot volunteer with us, but it may impact the ways you can get involved.
- Volunteering in the shop
Our retail volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.
- You will not undergo a criminal record check for this role
- Volunteering in a leadership role
Our volunteer supervisors help with overseeing the running of our shop and creating a fantastic environment for our customers. You may be involved with coordinating and supporting other volunteers, operating computer systems, and being a key point of contact for the shop.
Skills and Experiences Required:
We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need to have volunteered or worked in a shop before as full training will be provided. What’s important to us is that you are a team player, open to learning and willing to follow Shelter’s policies and can be an excellent ambassador for Shelter. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of bad housing or homelessness.
Induction, Learning and Development:
To enable you to take part in this opportunity Shelter will:

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) brings exceptional, life-saving critical care to people when they need it most — day and night, 365 days a year. As we enter a significant new chapter, we are seeking new Trustees to help guide our Charity into the future.

Why now?
We are approaching the completion of a major strategic transformation: the relocation to a brand-new airbase in Eastleigh, near Southampton Airport. This move will:
- Dramatically improve response times
- Strengthen operational efficiency and teamwork
- Create a new operational model for the next generation of critical care delivery
As a Trustee you will help ensure this transformation delivers lasting impact for patients, clinicians, donors and communities across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
The role: Trustee (Volunteer)
As a Trustee, you will:
- Set the strategic direction of the Charity
- Provide strong governance, oversight and accountability
- Act as a critical friend to the Executive and Clinical leadership
- Safeguard long-term financial sustainability
- Uphold the Charity’s mission, values and public benefit
This is an “eyes on, hands off” role focused on strategy rather than day-to-day operations, but one where your insight and judgement will have real influence and impact. Being a Trustee is challenging, rewarding, and deeply meaningful.
Time commitment: approximately 12 part-days per year, including four Board meetings, committee meetings and one annual strategy day.Trustees are elected for an initial term of 3 years, and can be re-elected for a maximum of 3 terms (9years in total).

New trustees wanted
We are looking for up to three people to be active members of our Board of Trustees.
Together with the other trustees, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders you will help the
Foodbank deliver a non-judgemental and compassionate service, and help us as we
work towards a future where foodbanks are no longer needed. The Trustee may be
asked to take the lead on specific areas of our work, utilising their experience and
skills. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have experience in
fundraising/bid writing, human resources, communications/PR, and property
management.

afford the essentials and get the support they need when they need it, preventing them
from reaching a point of crisis.
Our mission
Our mission is to provide a compassionate, dignified, and non-judgemental service to
people within our community. We do this by working in partnership with other
organisations to provide holistic support that enables people to find a way out of their
crisis. We work together with partners and the other foodbanks in RCT to identify and
address the root causes of people needing to use our foodbank to alleviate poverty
within our community.
Volunteering is a fantastic way for you to be involved in your local community and
volunteers are at the heart of all that we do as a Foodbank.

Description
Sooty, the nation’s much-loved bear and a true national treasure, has featured on RNIB’s collection boxes for over 50 years. Thanks to generous public support, these iconic boxes have raised more than £13 million in donations.
We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to join our network of Sooty Box collectors. In this flexible role, you’ll help place new boxes and collect and bank donations from Sooty Boxes in local shops, cafés and other businesses in your area. Whether you volunteer on your own, with a friend or as part of a group, you’ll be making a real difference in your community.
You can give as much or as little time as you like and fit the role around your other commitments.
Please note: Volunteers are expected to use their own transport and ideally should have access to a car. Mileage or public transport costs will be reimbursed.

Why we want you
As branch chair you and your branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community. To ensure that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.
What you will be doing
- Overseeing an appropriate programme of awareness raising activities so that potential beneficiaries, volunteers and supporters are aware of SSAFA as first in mind for support.
- Building relationships with the regional and national SSAFA team, local voluntary organisations and, if applicable, SSAFA serving community teams, local military establishments, etc.
- Attending events as a key SSAFA representative.
- Providing timely reports and information to SSAFA’s central office
- Overseeing a programme of meetings including an AGM, branch meetings, committee meetings, training etc.
- Working with other volunteers, regional and national team members to attract and recruit new volunteers as required.
- Work closely with the community engagement co-ordinator to recruit, welcome, induct, support, and manage volunteers in line with SSAFA policies, such as the Volunteering Policy, Volunteer Code of Conduct, Data Protection Policy, and Safeguarding Policy.

- Basic IT skills
