What your role will involve

Key responsibilities: Till volunteer

Being a till volunteer includes all the same responsibilities as a shop volunteer, however, when you’re ready, we’ll provide you with additional training to:

• Serve customers on the till in a warm and friendly way.
• Put sales through the till, packing them and thanking the customer for shopping with us.
• Talk to customers about Gift Aid and other fundraising initiatives.

Volunteers are integral to the running of our reserves and without their help we wouldn’t be able to maintain this amazing wetland of national importance. WWT Slimbridge consists of over 325 acres of stunning habitat, providing refuge for a huge diversity of animals and plants. The reserve and its wetlands have international protection, including a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), a Ramsar site, and a Special Protection Area.

Managing a large wetland nature reserve requires a lot of practical, hands-on, physical tasks. With training and guidance, you will become part of our friendly and hard-working reserves volunteer team. Your role will be to provide regular support for all practical reserves management, including maintaining and restoring various habitats to attract migratory birds and help improve species biodiversity on site. You will ensure that our reserve grounds are maintained to the highest standard for wildlife and that they look their best for visitors, encouraging their engagement and support for our vital work!

This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in practical nature conservation, meet new like-minded people and become part of a dedicated team, and make a difference by helping to maintain our important wetlands.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team, and we wouldn’t be able to maintain our internationally important wetland sites without their help. You will receive a very warm welcome, full induction & training, and be provided with any necessary equipment, uniforms, and anything else needed to thrive in your role.

A women led grassroots charity in southern India is seeking a volunteer accountant to strengthen accounting systems, reporting, budgeting and finance team confidence.

The organisation works with women, children and marginalised communities through programmes focused on empowerment, health advocacy, childcare, education and residential care for children affected by HIV/AIDS.

Much of the organisation’s accounting remains manual and paper based, and financial reports are generally prepared only when requested by donors.

The volunteer will review current finance processes, assess use of accounting software, support budgeting and cashflow tools, introduce simple monthly management accounts, improve donor reporting and provide mentoring to the local finance team.

This would suit a supportive, hands on volunteer who enjoys working closely with smaller grassroots organisations.

A growing women’s empowerment social enterprise in Uganda is seeking a volunteer accountant to strengthen budgeting, cashflow forecasting and financial systems.

The organisation supports over 300 women artisans, including single mothers, widows and teenage mothers, through vocational training and income generating opportunities linked to handmade crafts.

As international sales opportunities grow, the organisation wants to ensure its finance processes remain practical, sustainable and fit for purpose.

The volunteer will work with the Founder and Managing Director to review internal processes and controls, support effective use of Zoho Books, review the chart of accounts, improve budgeting and cashflow forecasting, develop simple management reporting tools and support audit preparation.

This would suit a hands on volunteer comfortable working closely with a small local team.

Key tasks

• Design Development: Create visually compelling graphics for use across social media, email, web, presentations, and print

• Brand Consistency: Ensure all visual materials align with Roots Academy’s brand guidelines and Islamic values

• Content Support: Collaborate with the social media and education teams to translate ideas and scripts into polished, engaging visuals

• Campaign Assets: Support event and program launches by designing posters, promo kits, and other visual collateral

• Template Creation: Build easy-to-edit templates for internal teams to use (e.g., Canva or Google Slides)

• Revision & Feedback: Adapt designs based on team feedback while maintaining efficiency and quality

• Trend Awareness: Stay up to date on design and content trends, especially within the faith-based and youth development space

The Position

We are looking for a Grants Officer who can support us with diverse tasks that include looking for grants opportunities, project development, proposals writing, and liaising with potential partners and donors. In this role you’ll be a key contributor to the continued existence of Second Tree, which is dependent on grants to survive, and to the creation of new projects and partnerships. To do this successfully, you'll need to employ meticulous time-management and organisation skills, as juggling multiple tasks with competing deadlines is common in this role.

The role will include:

• Researching and identifying new grant opportunities on a weekly basis

• Summarising relevant grant opportunities and suggesting how to best respond and comply with them

• Researching information and data necessary for grants and grant reporting

• Supporting the design of new projects

• Supporting with proposal writing

• Maintaining necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials for the Grants team

• Working with the wider Second Tree team to ensure that all project proposals align with organisational, and programme strategies

• Establishing and maintaining connections with funding bodies

You should be able to:

• Professionally communicate in English (verbally and in writing)

• Read, comprehend, interpret, summarise and follow proposal guidelines

• Work to tight deadlines with flexibility and a problem-solving attitude;

• Conduct thorough, high-quality, independent research

• Work both independently and as part of a team

The ideal candidate will have:

• Working knowledge of project management techniques such as LFA

• Knowledge of and experience with grant-giving bodies and other external funding sources (e.g. European Commission)

Sustainable Bolivia is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the Bolivian Amazon that partners with local initiatives to provide resources that support ecotourism, regenerative agriculture, health and education. Volunteers/Employees live on Aquicuana on our research base and assist us with our work in the community of Warnes.

Sustainable Bolivia is in need of a teacher to run our afterschool program. The volunteer will plan and deliver classes to children ages 5-15 at our community classroom. Attendance varies from 10-30 students at a time, with over 100 students being served throughout the past year. Classes focus on English and science instruction but should include structured play, arts and crafts, and music (if within the teacher’s skill set). Active projects such as community clean ups, gardening, bird counts, etc are encouraged. Classes occur each weekday afternoon from 2-5pm. Mornings are available for prep and planning, and participation in our other volunteer opportunities such as grant writing, social media management, or ecological research.

Short term volunteers occasionally join the program, and the teacher should be prepared to support and include volunteers in their work.

Applicants should have experience in youth education. They should be fluent in English and have intermediate Spanish ability.

A commitment of at least 3 months is required, with preference given to volunteers who can stay longer.

Food and lodging in a lake front cabin on the reserve are provided for free and no volunteer fee is required. The volunteer is responsible for their flights and travel insurance. 

We are seeking to appoint an experienced professional to join the Education Committee with specific expertise in safeguarding and Prevent.

This is a vital governance role, providing strategic oversight to ensure that:

· Learners are safe and well supported

· Statutory safeguarding responsibilities are fully met

· A strong culture of vigilance and accountability is embedded

All panel members are expected to attend all EAP meetings. These occur four times within each academic year. Meetings are held either online or in person. Each meeting is schedule for an hour and half. If in person, the meeting will be held at CareTrade.

Key Responsibilities

As the EC member with responsibility for safeguarding and Prevent, you will:

Provide strategic oversight of safeguarding systems, policies, and practice

Support and challenge leaders to ensure compliance with statutory guidance, including:

· Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)

· Working Together to Safeguard Children

· Safeguarding practices for adults

· The Prevent Duty

Act as the link committee member for safeguarding and Prevent, liaising with the Principal at TAP

Review safeguarding reports, data, and trends to ensure effective response and continuous improvement

Monitor the effectiveness of:

· Safeguarding training

· Prevent awareness and risk management

· Learner wellbeing and safety systems

· Ensure appropriate safeguarding of learners from risks including:

· Abuse and neglect

· Exploitation

· Radicalisation

Provide supportive challenge to senior leaders and contribute to a culture of professional curiosity and accountability
