Street Paws is the charity standing up for people and pets facing homelessness, we believe in a future where homelessness never separates people and their pets, because for them a pet is a lifeline not a luxury.

Street Paws stands up for people facing homelessness because, for them a pet is a lifeline, not a luxury. We challenge the misconception that having a pet should ever be a barrier to a secure home. That is why, in partnership with Local Authorities, hostels and support services, we provide accessible veterinary care, training and advocacy – breaking down the barriers and opening doors to make pet friendly support the norm, not the exception.

We are looking for new trustees with legal, cyber security or lobbying/ campaigning expertise to join our board and play a pivotal role in protecting and strengthening the charity as we grow. By joining our Board, you will have the chance to:

A bit about this role

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!
 

You can expect us to

• help set up and/or man stalls at events

• promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

About The Girls’ Network

At The Girls’ Network, we believe that no girl should have her future limited by her gender, ethnicity, background or parental income.

Young people from lower-income families are significantly less likely to go on to higher education than their wealthier peers, which can have a lifelong impact on opportunity and earning potential. Recent years have also seen inequalities deepen and young people’s wellbeing adversely affected, particularly following the Covid-19 pandemic. These structural and social barriers disproportionately affect girls and young women from communities of least advantage.

About the Opportunities

The Girls’ Network is seeking a new Chair of Trustees to lead and support The Girls’ Network through their exciting next phase of growth, supporting an exceptional, values-driven team and ensuring they remain ambitious, accountable and true to their founding mission.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with:

• Experience of strategic leadership and governance within a complex organisation.
• Experience or understanding of the education / schools landscape.
• Good understanding of voluntary sector governance, funding and finance management.
• Thorough understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship.
• Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen, including experience in financial planning, oversight, risk management, and the establishment and monitoring of systems of control and accountability.
• A track record of driving innovation and organisational change, with the ability to apply insight to support the charity’s achievement of its strategic objectives.
• Experience of working across sectoral boundaries, leveraging partnerships and opportunities.

The Girls’ Networks is also seeking two talented and committed Trustees to join their Board. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Fundraising
• IT and digital

We are also seeking Trustees from the North East, Merseyside, West Midlands who can bring their lived experience to add value to the Board. We also encourage applications from young Trustees and will support first-time Trustees to bring their valuable perspectives to the Board.

Thurgoland Out of School Club is a small charity that provides childcare to meet the local communities requirements. They offer complete daytime care for infants from the age of 6 weeks old, through to out of school care for children up to the age of 11 years.

TOOSC are a vital and much valued part of the beautiful rural village community in Thurgoland, providing support for families for 50 weeks of the year between 7.30am to 6pm.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to give back to the community while gaining experience of strategic leadership in a charitable organisation. It is an exciting time to join the board of trustees, with growing demand for services, the charity is financially sustainable and has reserves to support its development.

The Role

We are looking for someone with financial experience to embrace the role of Trustee (Treasurer) and ensure the sustainability of TOOSC for the village’s families.

The main responsibilities will include:

• Financial planning, budgeting and forecasting 
• Financial management and reporting, ensuring accurate financial records
• Financial oversight - monitoring income and expenditure, and providing quarterly reviews
•  Trustee duties and responsibilities – legal compliance, governance and strategic vision

The Person

We are looking for a financial professional with proven experience and a strong understanding of managing financial accounts and governance within the charity, corporate or public sector.

As a Trustee you will be legally responsible for the charity, therefore we are looking for someone who can demonstrate exceptional judgement, integrity and reliability. You must have the ability to provide strategic advice and contribute to long-term planning. An accountancy qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA etc.) would be desirable.

You will ideally have knowledge of the Charity Commission’s requirements and charity finance structures, or be willing to learn. A flair for presenting complex financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues and working effectively with the board of trustees is essential.

Chair of the Board of Trustees — Alliance for Youth Justice

The Alliance for Youth Justice is seeking a new Chair to lead our experienced and knowledgeable Board of Trustees. The AYJ Chair will provide leadership and strategic oversight, foster an inclusive board culture, and support our Chief Executive Officer to build on AYJ’s success into the future.

We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to social justice and achieving positive change for children and young people in the youth justice system. You will have knowledge and understanding of how to govern a charity and bring strong strategic leadership skills to ensure the AYJ is able to achieve its vision, mission, and purpose.
