As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

As well as fulfilling the duties of a Trustee, the Treasurer maintains an overview of WAND UK’s financial affairs. The Treasurer ensures that effective and appropriate financial measures, controls and procedures are put in place and reports to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation.

Treasurer role

· Overseeing the presentation of budgets, internal management accounts and annual financial statements to the Board of Trustees.

· Ensuring that proper accounting records are kept, and that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.

· Ensuring that robust and comprehensive financial policies are in place and being implemented, and supporting the development of policies covering financial reserves, and cost management.

· Monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity.

· Overseeing financial controls and adherence to systems, regularly liaising with the Director

· Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan, including overseeing the charity’s financial risk-management process

· Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by relevant statutory bodies, for example, the Charity Commission and/or the Registrar of Companies.

· Keeping the board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities and liaising with the Director to develop the financial understanding of the Board of Trustees.

What we are looking for

· A finance professional. A knowledge of charity finance is an advantage.

· A strategic thinker with an ability to balance risk and opportunity.

· Clear communicator with the ability to bring the financial information alive to non-finance specialists.

· Willing to play an active role in areas such as forecasting, setting budgets, liaising with auditors

In addition to the above, the Treasurer will also have the responsibilities and qualities of all trustees:

● Support and provide advice on WAND UK’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.

● Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.

● Oversee WAND UK’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.

● Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.

● Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.

● Review and approve WAND UK’s financial statements.

● Provide support and challenge to WAND UK’s Director in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.

● Keep abreast of changes in WAND UK’s operating environment.

●  Contribute to regular reviews of WAND UK’s own governance.

● Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.

● Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect WAND UK’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third party interests.

● Contribute to the broader promotion of WAND UK’s objects, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.

As a small charity, there will be times when the trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, presenting externally, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

Terms of appointment

Terms of office

· Trustees are appointed for a 3 year term of office.

· After the 3 years of service a trustee needs to stand down and be re-elected by the Board if they would like to continue.

● This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Time Commitment (Estimated at 1-2 hours maximum per month)

● Attending four Board meetings annually. Currently meetings are held remotely and in person at WAND UK’s office located at St Charles centre for health and wellbeing, Exmoor street W10 6DZ. 

● Monthly scheduled meeting with the Director with flexibility to respond swiftly to the occasional ad hoc issue.

● Attending half day of the annual strategy and planned training sessions.

Fundraising Events Organiser Volunteer

Would you like to be part of a dedicated and friendly team of volunteers and make a real difference to the lives of cats and kittens in our care?  Do you enjoy planning and organising for events?  Maybe you have a particular skill that you would like to put to use?

Our Fundraising Events Team are at the heart of what we do, raising essential funds for the cats. 

Our Fundraising Events Organisers share ideas, tasks and inspiration, planning and delivering local events, with the support of the Fundraising events helpers, such as Open Days (usually 2 per year) at the centre and our annual Christmas Bazaar. 

Time Expectation:  This role can be varied and time commitment can be flexible. 

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Berkshire Cat Centre simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

We're often looking to welcome new volunteers to join our brilliant team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of Berkshire.

Please note:  Although we do welcome everyone, unfortunately our centre is not set up to accommodate young volunteers under the age of 18, including those on the Duke of Edinburgh programme.

Be Enriched - recent recipients of The Kings Award for Voluntary Servie 2025 - are seeking an inspirational Chairperson to lead our Board of Trustees and guide our next phase of strategic growth. We use food as a tool to bring people together, cultivate joy and dignity whilst fighting food waste and nourishing the community.

What will you be doing?

The Chair plays a pivotal role in guiding the board, ensuring the charity is governed effectively and remains true to our vision and mission. With an inclusive leadership style, the Chair will foster a collaborative atmosphere within the board, while offering both support and constructive challenge to the CEO. Additionally, the Chair serves as a passionate ambassador for the charity, representing its values and goals.

Since 2013, we have been dedicated to enriching our communities through food. Our work tackles critical issues head-on: alleviating food poverty, combating social isolation, and empowering individuals through practical skills training. Governance and Strategic Leadership 

• Provide leadership to the board in the establishment of organisations overall strategy and policies.

• Direct boards policy-making process and guidance to ensure strategic alignment. 

• Monitor decisions taken by the board to ensure effective execution. 

Board Management 

• Build and develop the board by leading efforts in recruiting new trustees and ensure the board is diverse, skilled, and working cohesively. Foster a culture of mutual respect and collaboration. 

• Plan annual schedule of board meetings and establish agendas. 

• Chair and facilitate board meetings. 

Representation and Advocacy 

• Act as Ambassador for Be Enriched at external events, meetings and functions when required. 

• Actively participate in and show support for the charity's events and projects, demonstrating leadership and commitment to its mission. 

Executive Liaison and Oversight 

• Liaise closely with CEO to maintain strategic overview and provide appropriate support. 

• Serve on senior appointment panels as needed.

Formal Procedures 

• Act as the final stage adjudicator in formal disciplinary and grievance procedures, in accordance with the organisation’s policies.

• Proven experience as a trustee, with a passion for governance and making a difference.  Prior Chair experience is welcome but not required.

Jumble Sales Organiser Volunteer

Would you like to raise funds, have fun and join a super team of volunteers who together make our Jumble Sales in Thatcham a great success?  As Jumble Sales Organiser you would be helping to make everything run smoothly for the team.

Time Expectations:  1 Saturday every other month (plus preparations)

This could be a shared role and tasks may include:

· Booking the hall for future Jumbles

· Contacting the Jumble team before events to check availability

· Set up stalls, running a stall and packing away at the end

· Collecting any items/resources needed from the centre the day before

St Christopher’s Trading Company is looking for a new non-executive director (NED) to join its Board. Someone committed and enthusiastic, who will further strengthen our Trading Company and help us achieve the next phase of our planned development.

St Christopher’s Trading Company’s objective is to maximize profit from commercial activities, which is then used to fund charitable work carried out by St Christopher’s Hospice. The commercial activities include the operation of 23 St Christopher’s shops across South-East London, with ambitions to explore other non-charitable income generation opportunities.

Founded in 1967 by Dame Cicely Saunders, St Christopher’s Hospice is the driving force behind the modern hospice movement. It not only provides care and support for almost 7000 people a year across the London boroughs of Lewisham, Southwark, Lambeth, Croydon and Bromley, but also has a national and international reputation as a centre for learning and research in end-of-life care.

About you:

We are specifically seeking someone with professional knowledge, experience and skills in one or more of the following areas:

· Senior commercial or charity retail

· Innovation and entrepreneurship

· Relevant experience in retail or commercial environments at a strategic level.

About the role:

The non-executive director will be a company director of St Christopher’s (Trading) Ltd, and along with other members of the Trading Board, will be responsible for the good governance, strategic direction and financial oversight of the Trading Company as well as being legally responsible for the running of the company and making sure information is sent to Companies House on time.

Responsibilities

As a non-executive director, you will be expected to:

● Bring an independent perspective to the Trading Board

● Review papers, attend meetings, contribute to debates providing constructive challenge when appropriate, complete actions and offer support to develop proposals on strategy

● Scrutinise the performance and progress of agreed goals and objectives and monitor the reporting of performance

● Ensure the integrity of financial information and that financial controls and systems of risk management are robust and defensible;

● Devote time to developing and refreshing your knowledge and skills and be aware of the work of St Christopher’s Hospice

● Uphold the highest standards of integrity, openness, diplomacy, tact and inclusiveness.

● Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information and the business of the Committee 

● Exercise independent judgment, particularly avoiding any personal conflict of interest and ensuring that all relevant business, professional, and other interests are declared

● Understand and respect the relative roles and views of other St Christopher’s Trading Directors, Non-Executive Directors, the Trading Senior Leadership Team and the Executive

● Comply with the Trustee, Co-Opted Sub Committee member & Non Executive Director Code of Conduct expectations

Time commitment

· Attend a minimum of four meetings per year and meeting preparation time. Meetings are usually held in person at our Sydenham site during office hours.

· An annual Trading Board Awayday

· Undertake St Christopher’s induction and mandatory training requirements

· There is an expectation that Non-Executive Director’s will visit some of our shops each year

· Non-Executive Directors have an annual review meeting with the Chair of St Christopher’s Trading

South Asian Arts-UK (SAA-uk) is a Leeds-based charity and recognised centre of excellence dedicated to celebrating, teaching, and evolving South Asian classical music and dance. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

You can expect us to

• make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours
• support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection
• cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
• provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

We are seeking a new Treasurer with experience as a qualified accountant, to drive the financial sustainability our charity supporting unpaid carers.

What will you be doing?

Our Board of Trustees is made up of 11 trustees from a range of backgrounds including, health, social care, education and the private sector. 

Demand for our services is higher than it has ever been. Cases are increasingly complex and resources stretched. Changes to the funding landscape, including the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and North East Combined Authority (NECA) present both challenges and opportunities for the organisation.  As the ICB looks to make savings, new regional opportunities are arising with NECA, which require collaboration across a number of carer organisations. 

We are one year into our 5 year strategic cycle, which sets out clear priorities and goals. To help us grow and thrive, and, deliver our Corporate Strategy, we need a Treasurer who can:

• Oversee our finances and keep us sustainable
   
• Ensure we meet charity requirements 
   
• Support the management team with budgets, reporting, and good financial practice.

The Treasurer will play a vital role in guiding our Trustees in overseeing our finances and helping us succeed. We’re looking for someone who is a qualified accountant and is willing to give a few hours a month to support the work we do.

This is a great opportunity to put your skills to use in a meaningful way, and work with a committed and motivated board of trustees and senior leadership team, to help meet the needs of unpaid carers and work towards a more sustainable future.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is a qualified accountant who can oversee the organisation's finances and provide sound financial advise to aid the board of trustee in their decision making. 

Ideally we are looking for a Treasurer who has lived experience as a unpaid carer, but this is not essential.
